Cliff House at Pikes Peak Ratings and Reviews
The food was wonderful. We selected the lamb and elk meals, and both were nicely prepared and delicious. Service was very good. I had the house white wine which I really liked. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is pricey, but a good choice for a special occasion.
1. First rate service
2. Fresh vegetables and wonderful salads.
3. The duck and lamb were wonderful.
4. Relaxed/no pressure dining room with classical guitar entertainer.
The meal was as good as it gets and the price was very reasonable. I’m looking forward to going back.
Well, the restaurant was not crowded, but the entree salad was tiny and we received shrimp instead of salmon - waited for the salmon to come. Quiche was cold but by this time we did not feel we wanted to complain and just ate it. Disappointing food for the cost. Service was good and fault was I believe with the kitchen. Long drive from Denver for mediocre dining.
We're from the east coast. This was our second time here, the last time was 7 years ago for dinner. This time for lunch for our anniversary while also visiting the Air Force Academy.
A lovely place with tablecloths and an opportunity to quietly enjoy a wry good meal.
I would have given it 5 stars but although we highlighted it was our anniversary on our Open Table reservation, it wasn't acknowledged.
On a recent stay at the accompanying hotel, we had dinner at this establishment. The food was good, not great, but good- certainly at the price point. The chef was very creative with the dishes and ingredients and the meal service itself, as a whole, was very cozy and pleasant. The only issue that we had was an oversight by one of the servers, who forgot a refill on my date's iced tea. On the whole, the restaurant and experience was memorable, and truly a must if you're staying at the hotel, in particular.
Food was amazing, cooked perfectly! Staff was awful! Was put in a corner where the only thing to see was the wait staff exiting the kitchen door! Staffed seemed more worried about the image of the place instead of helping the customers that were there. Left to use the restroom and put my napkin on the table, apparently I didn't fold it correctly, because the waitier came and folded it while my wife sat there watching. Meal took too long and was too expensive to deal with a staff like that!
Anniversary trip away from home. Special meal - it wasn't a busy night in the restaurant and we were seated in an area off the main dining room - and it was almost like we had our own private dining room to ourselves. Herb our waiter and Justin his assistant made sure we were well taken care of. The meal presentation was perfect and the filet was beyond melt in your mouth. Topped it off with the chocolate mousse - wow! It was a special meal I will remember well in our archive of anniversary dates! I highly recommend dining at The Cliff House!
Overall decent experience as our second time visit. Service was a little choppy this time...less smooth then prior but that may be due to a different server. Maybe we came on an evening that is usually slow and they have people in training??
It's still a great place and they did remember what we liked from our last dinner, so that was nice. It's classic and romantic feeling. The host was fantastic! We'll be back!
We decided to eat lunch there during the solar eclipse while spending a couple of days in Manitou Springs. The patio dining was perfect for the occasion. The service was good and although we only shared a salad and crab cakes (along with some Prosecco) both were deliciously prepared and seasoned well. The crab cakes had an abundance of fresh crab in them which, too often, is not the case at many other restaurants.
The Cliff House Dining Room fell off the cliff. We arrived at 5:24 for a 5:30 reservation and were told literally to "go away and come back at 5:30 because we are prompt." Stunned, we walked out and returned at 5:32 only to be told they still were not ready to open. The maître d' then complained to us that he was supposed to have left an hour earlier! Oh, my, we felt so sorry for the poor man. Earlier I had passed the door on my way back to the lounge and had seen the staff in a tense meeting. That mood persisted throughout the evening. Our waiter treated us as though we were annoying him. He made no attempt to be gracious or to create the feel of a high-end dining experience. The food was average.
The Cliff House hotel is a fabulous historic building, and there is a cocktail lounge/casual dining bar on the huge veranda/porch, which is very good. But it does not take reservations. If I ever go again, it will be to the veranda bar.
We went during a trip to the mid-west of USA, during August 2017, last but one night, for my wife's birthday! Very plush french style decor and extremely attentive, friendly and helpful staff, who made the evening flow beautifully. Great food and an excellent evening throughout!
We celebrated both my husband's birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary in style--dinner on the veranda at the Cliff House, a gentle rain, excellent service and a delicious meal (topped off with sharing the purely decadent and fantastic Turtle Cheesecake). We were most pleased with our dining experience!
We wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate a special day a decided to go to the Cliff House in Manitou Springs. Just pull up to an old stately Hotel with free valet parking. We were escorted to the quiet dining room next to a window with a street view. The special of the day was $50 per couple. It included a soup or salad, a perfectly cooked tenderloin with grilled baby carrots and petite asparagus. We did not want the dessert on the list and they allowed us to substitute whatever we would like. Service was good and we had an enjoyable meal.
