We had a great date night. Thank you.
Fun, good music and great food. This is a beautiful club with excellent service.
Cliff Bells was amazing as always! It has special 1920’s characterics, wonderful music and a menu that will please even the pickiest pallet.
Beautiful venue. Great drinks. Music was great. Horrible service. Minimum of 20 minutes each time we ordered a drink. One member of our party never got his entree.
The food and the ambiance was very good. The architecture of the building have it the early 1900s feel and the Jazz Band was a perfect touch to enjoy a night out.
We had a great time! The music was amazing and the service was prompt. We only had wine so I can't say 8f the food is good, but the wine was wonderful.
Service and Food great. The wait for he food after ordering .............terrible!
We were seated then waited 40 minutes before the waiter came to our table. There two other groups whi were there before us and they had not seen a waiter or received water until after our waiter took our order for our drinks. Great atmosphere but the service must improve for the amount of money that most people spend there.
Food wasn't as good as I thought it would be but I did enjoy the Diver Scallop entree. Had to remind them of my original request for seating which they did get together eventually. Not sure if I will revisit
Date nite in the D. We had tickets for a show at The Fillmore. We had dinner reservations pre show at Cliff Bells. Food was great portions big. Husband had the Steak with Gorgonzola Butter, Mashed Potato, and Vegetables. I opted for Roasted Beet & Kale Salad along with the Misto Calamari appetizer (huge platter- enough for 4). The Detroit Dirty Cocktail was wonderful. Husband enjoyed Blueberry Cobbler Cheesecake. Server was attentive without being pesty. We enjoyed a Perfect dinner experience ... especially pre-show. We will be back.
I would give more stars but the waitress was very rude & we only had a party of 5 so I didn’t like how they took out a tip because there was no way that I would have tipped her 20% with her lack of customer service skills. I will definitely be back but will request to be seated in another section.
I was disappointed that we had reservations and requested a good view of the stage and we weren't seated until 20 minutes after our reservations and we were seated in the bar area with no view of the stage. That said, the food was outstanding and the service was a little nagging.
I love the music at CB's...when you can hear it! It's always too noisy because most people, apparently, go to eat. I think the noise is disrespectful to the musicians and to the listeners who paid for the show. CB's should say something about keeping talk to a minimum while music is on (Dirty Dog does this). The food is not always good but is always expensive. Parking is an issue, too. One must valet park or pay a lot unless lucky enough to find a spot on the street. (Parking is not CB's fault.) I make reservations but still end up standing for 30 minutes, waiting for a table...every time I've made reservations. I keep going for special music performances but go less and less because of the issues raised above. Will recommend for the music, not the ambiance.
Excellent atmosphere, service, food and music!
Everything was very nice as far as food and ambiance. A little slow with getting food out of kitchen but that can be expected when you have most of the diners going to a show after dinner. Would come again for the same setting!
Beautiful interior. Would love to know history of the building. Very good service. Friendly. Food was great. A little higher priced than we were expecting but we didn't feel over charged except the price for drinks which were during happy hour thought they would be a little lower. the trio playing was really good and we enjoyed them.
Absolutely great experience. Have told all my friends about it. Love the 40'-50's jazz feel and old school cool. We WILL be back!
Great spot, amazing ambiance. Service was great, food was wonderful. Musicians were extremely talented!
We had a wonderful evening, great food and great music!
Very enjoyable dinner before Lewis Black at the Fillmore! Great food and service. Interesting cocktail menu. Really nice find!
We were seated front and center and were worried about being too close to the bands but it worked out great. We felt an initimate connection with the two bands and the volume level was fine. We loved the calamari appetizer and both of our entrees with a perfect bottle of red wine. Even with an hour drive, we will definitely return soon with friends.
My husband loves live music, good food, and good drinks.....it was the perfect Birthday dinner for him!!! He loved it! Thank you Cliff Bells
Re-visited Cliff Bells for the first time in a few years, and either something was very off for Easter Sunday brunch, or the food has gone seriously downhill since we were last there. The chicken and waffles were lukewarm and neither was crispy, as if they were pulled from some steam trays and assembled on a plate. My partner's Eggs Benedict was fine but not great. The service was quick and the music was nice, but it seems that what was once a nice spot for a fancy Sunday brunch with jazz has changed for the worse.
Wonderful Easter Brunch!
Awesome as always.
Great service and JAZZ.
Food good be just a little better.
Always a great spot for phenomenal food and entertainment!
My husband and I totally enjoyed our dining experience. The decor, ambiance , live music, and food were spectacular. We will definitely go again when we are in the area.
The lamb was to die for😉
$10 parking, $20 cover charge, $156 for the meal, nice but not worth the expense I paid.
We were very well pleased with Cliff Bell’s they exceeded our expectations. The waiter, the service, the food, the music and the overall atmosphere was awesome.
Perfect for a special night out before a show at the Fox!
It feels like this place is relying on its unique ambience and location without putting much effort into the food. The steak and lobster were just okay, and lacked the flavor and quality one would expect at the price point.
I had a 9:45 reservation for a place that closed at 12 am. I arrived at 9:40 and place dark and locked. Absolutely terrible . The advantage of open table is the restaurant has my number and email. No one bother to contact us to tell us the restaurant closed early.
It was my first time and diffidently not my last. I enjoyed my brunch there and I want to come back for dinner...
It was a nice place, however I wouldn’t eat here if I was to return. The food was very mediocre and overpriced for the quality. The live music was the best part. Very nice. The service was okay. Overall $200 for a appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, a bottle of wine, Door cover charge for the live music (personally I don’t think they should charge for something that would be assumed to be a part of the experience. Maybe if you weren’t dining or something.) would have been a decent value had the food been anywhere near good. I’d return, just wouldn’t eat more than a appetizer and order drinks.
While the service was good, the quality of the food was fair. My date had the ribeye, which in my opinion was overpriced. I had the scallops with risotto which was sub-par. The music and ambiance was well worth the ten dollar cover charge. Cliff Bell's can definitely stand to improve on the quality of it's meals.
We ordered the chicken with the arugula salad, unbeknownst to us it was the flattest and driest piece of chicken (similar to a flat bread/chicken with arugula thrown on top). I must admit that this was one of the worst, uneventful, flavorless, horribly cooked meals that I have ever “seen” at Cliff Bell’s.
Secondly, I ordered Chilean sea bass. It was sour, and wreaked a pungent unfamiliar fishy smell. I tasted the fish and it was spoiled, old and covered with a red sauce to hide the smell (I imagine).
I returned the meal to my server and was skeptical to reorder anything. I had the aioli fries which were the best thing on the table. My ordered the crab cakes and prayed that they would not be spoiled or distasteful.
I must admit that I was very disappointed in that this was my guest’s first visit and last visit to Cliff Bell’s.
If there is a new cook, they need assistance from another chef to taste the menu before it is presented to well paying customers.
This visit has placed Cliff Bell’s very low on my preference list.
Always have a nice time when coming to enjoy the entertainment. The amount of detail on the Cliff Bell's site and the attention given to the operation of their social media accounts has been very helpful in picking evenings and artists. Past visits have been drinks/dessert at one of the tables to the side of the stage, but this one was a full meal on the main floor. Our server was very attentive - especially when it came to the drink orders and my preparation request. We did receive one incorrect entrée that was delivered by someone other than our server, but since my guest insisted I order for her without knowing what I chose, I rolled with it and she enjoyed the Organic Irish Salmon anyway, lol. It was cooked nicely with attractive plating and a decent portion of broccolini that I gladly assisted with. My guest is a self-proclaimed expert cheesecake baker, but had good things to say about the Blueberry Cobbler Cheesecake and ate far more of it than originally planned.
I was surprised that there was no longer valet service. I found a spot fairly close so it was ok.
Staff was lovely.
Music was great.
I had Caesar salad and although it was fresh there was no dressing on it! I didn’t bring it to my servers attention because it was very busy and I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of my date.
I had scallops and they were cooked perfectly!
My date had beet salad and he loved it. He had gnocchi for his main course and it was very good.
It was a lovely evening.
Great place for a date. Jazz Music was wonderful and one of the best and impressioned selection of music that set the night up so well.
Great restaurant, fabulous service and food. The jazz band was great too!
