I ate at Cleo a couple years ago with a group of girlfriends and we all thought the food was amazing as well as the ambiance. I was eager to take my colleagues here last week so I made a reservation in advance. The day of our dinner I received a call saying that Cleo was now permanently closed. I was shocked! And bummed! Anyone know why they closed so suddenly?

Had a horrible experience with one of the waiters. Falafel was super salty and the waiter did not even have courtesy to apologize for it, leave alone refunding the money back. Would never recommend or come back.

Friend had to order four times before they finally "had" something she wanted to eat. When the food came it was served on very cheap dishware. Latkes tasted so strongly of whatever animal fat, we could not eat them. Hummus and laffa was good.

Violin was our waiter and provided good service. We enjoyed our food. The Panna Cotta wasn't great; the vanilla gelato was great, desert menu limited, while the main menu has a variety of dishes to satisfy any hungry soul.

We were delighted that they held our reservation at 7 and accommodated our wish to move inside when we realized that the outdoor patio seating is a view of a noisy and busy intersection; Collins and 18th. If you're going to dine here, dine inside. If a party of two, ask for a small booth near the front windows; the decor is lovely. There's a huge image of Cleopatra too.

However, the music was inconsistent with the ambience. Eric Clapton's "Lay down Sally" didn't work in a restaurant named after Cleopatra; yes, as in Antony & Cleopatra.

"After Caesar's assassination, Cleopatra set her sights on the dashing Roman general Mark Antony. The two began an affair, resulting in twins in 40 B.C. Antony wed Cleopatra in 36 B.C., and appointed his new wife ruler of Egypt, Cyprus, Crete, and Cyria. This abuse of power so outraged the Roman Senate that they denounced him a traitor. Antony and Cleopatra were forced to flee to Egypt in 31 B.C. In desperation, Cleopatra spread rumors of her own suicide. Antony, unaware of her plan, stabbed himself to death. When Cleopatra heard of this, she took her own life by inducing a poisonous snake to bite her."

Given the history; I recommend music like Thievery Corporation's that integrates rhythms from the Mediterranean region vs. a sounds you'd hear in a backwoods bar in Oklahoma that hasn't realized Ronald Reagan is dead nor that a sadly comical clown hijacked the GOP & stole the White House with a Russian assist to satiate real MeriCons nostalgia for a past that never existed.

Although we live in tragic times, and even though this restaurant is named after a tragic woman, you won't have a tragic evening if Violin serves you. This place is good for romance or a good break up, just bring your own snake.

Very disappointing. Was not crowded and there appeared to be a lot of staff around, yet the service was inattentive to say the least. Nearly every dish served without serving utensils. Long pauses between appearances by any server. Dirty plates sat on table way too long. Too bad. The look of the restaurant was very appealing and some dishes quite good. Will not be back.

Very disappointing meal at Cleo - the moussaka was soup-like and the spanakopita was really phyllo dough masquerading as spanakopita. I've been to Cleo in two locations in LA and have previously visited this location but this was by far the most subpar experience.

Came for my birthday with my wife and it was a big disappointment. The cocktails and food were fair at best, and although our server was very sweet and friendly, it just took forever for everything- from taking our initial drink order to receiving our food.

Better off with a place like Scarpetta at Fontain Bleu that was top notch with both service and food!

Sooooo good! Returned for dinner on back-to-back nights (a rarity for us when on vacation) so we could explore as much of the menu as possible. Grt place for sharing of small plates - ingredients were fresh, interpretations of classics like hummus and lamb shwarma were incredible. I'm getting hungry just writing this. Service was attentive (though trailed off a bit at end of dinner when the place got busy). Highly recommended and will return.

Cleo, is by far, the best dining experience we have had in South Beach. We come at least once a year to South Beach and always dine out as we are foodies. This was our first time at Cleo. Our server, Keith, was amazing. He explained the menu, the mezes and how things work. We had many small sharing plates and enjoyed absolutely every one of them. Lamb sliders, lamb kefta, Moroccan chicken, ravioli, potato latkes, and feta dip were all fabulous.
We will 100% be back to Cleo!!

Our Reservation was for 10:15 PM . At 10:28PM the waitress come in a big hurry asking to order in two minutes because the kitchen was closing at 10:30PM .

We have being At Cleo many times and was a very good place .

For a Saturday night close the kitchen so early in Miami Beach might be the beginning to be out of business shortly .

I do not recommend this place any more if you like to spent your night calm until midnight .

Arrived and was seated. Had to go to the reception desk to request someone take our order. Food arrived in a timely manner. We ordered 2 glasses of wine part way through our meal. Wine was attempted to be delivered well after finishing our food. We refused the wine. Put in a negative tip - tip was already charged at 18% - we backed out half of the tip because of poor service. Manager assured us this would be done on our charge slip. Very disappointing.

Our overall experience was wonderful. The food was excellent, and our server, John, went above and beyond. He made several recommendations that were outstanding.

The only thing that I didn’t like was that the music was too loud-there weren’t that many people, as it was early, so the volume could’ve been quite a bit lower. This did not, however interfere with our overall enjoyment.

Cleo was definitely a great find at the end of an evening. After doing some searching for mediterranean restaurant on Yelp, Cleo came up along with few other while we were staying at Fontainebleau, took a quick ride over and glad we did. There were about 5 different bachelorette parties going on. The ambiance is totally cool and live. We had our two girls (13 and 6), they loved being there as the crowd was classy. Our waiter (believe his name was Kevin) was out of this world, he really knew how to work several tables he had and made the guests feel welcomed.

Food and flavors were amazing - CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!
