Cleo - Hollywood
Cleo - Third St - SBE
Despite being Valentines Day, the level of service and the quality of food was absolutely fantastic. Normally on a day like Valentines Day you typically get a pre-fixe menu where the food is sub par and the wait staff is rushing you in order to give your table to the next party. This is especially true in a city such as Hollywood. However that was not the case with Cleo. My waitress explained the menu, made suggestions and made us feel welcome. Not once did she make us feel rushed, in fact she suggested other small plates to try. My date loved the place, as did I. The noise level was high, but nothing too crazy. Food was very good. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back. My only complaint was that the tables were pretty close to one another. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was tasty. Portions very small. Don’t go here if you are hungry. I’ve been to many middle eastern restaurants and the portions are big, better and half the price. For the $100+ spent I would have been better off flushing the money down the toilet.
i always enjoy coming here. great food and the staff is very considerate. they seat you on time and run a tight ship. its loud which is expected. we go all the time before the theater.
hope the re model does not take too long and does not affect the layout, food, or service too much.
i would take the opportunity to get rid of the most annoying trim wood on the walls near the windows since when you sit there you are leaning up against a piece of trim sticking out of the wall!
Everything from the food, drinks and service was exceptional. Originally I was concerned when the waiter mentioned that food would come out as it was ready since I've had bad experiences in which food would take too long to come out or it all came at once, however, the pacing was great and allowed for my girlfriend and I to flow from conversation to meal easily.
Cleo is great on so many levels. The perfect pre-Pantages meal. I will miss it during it's upcoming renovation but excited for it to return.
Highly recommended that reservations are made for an early dinner. The dining room fills up fast at 6:00pm when the restaurant opens. Our waiter was very helpful with suggesting dishes. We were delighted with dinner and will return, especially when attending The Pantages Theater.
The food is delicious, the service is prompt and friendly throughout your experience. Be advised that portions are small (i.e. tapas style) but our waitress was informative and walked us through the menu.
Everything was amazing, best hummus around. Flavor profiles were excellent with everything we ordered.
This place was absolutely fantastic!!! Literally everything my friend and I had was delicious. I am a sweet cocktail type of person and asked my waitress for a good suggestion. She brought me the Janapolitan. Absolutely delicious! The hanger steak, grape leaves, spanikopita, brussel sprouts, and shrimp kabob were all awesome, but the absolute favorite???? THE DUCK BASTILLA!!! O.M.G!! I could have eaten that all night long! This place is definitely a must try! I will for sure be back.
Eclectic tapas-like menu first-rate ingredients skillfully prepared and presented. Our first visit. We’ll be back.
Solid recommendation from my friends at Infatuation / T-Rex, enjoyed the food, small plates came out quick. Drink list is solid too. Loud and cramped though would be the small downfall.
It was great. Everything we ordered was delicious and they have smaller than normal plates so you can get multiple items and share. The service was fast as well so it's a great place to eat before a show.
Not coming back
Excellent. Always exceptional. Food and flavors are second to none. Cocktails are also fantastic.
Very tasty food. Enjoyed the flavors of the beef kabob, steak, bone marrow, borek, cigars, and dessert. Thought the falafel was too salty.
Brussel spouts and mushrooms with wild rice are tasty. Did not like the seasoning on the grilled octopus.
The food is the best n the planet! My business dinner was spectacular.
I wish the service was a tad better. We ordered the Moroccan fried chicken which was overpowering spicy. I wish we were forewarned before we ordered this dish. Loved the humus, babbaganoush, and flat breads. Would come back for the tapas.
My favorite restaurant! We were visiting from Utah and this was the only place I wanted to eat at ever since I ate there two years ago.
Great evening. Food, service and experience were all enjoyable. It does get loud when full. We will return.
My only negative review was that I'd made a reservation for 6pm since we had Aladdin at the Pantages at 8. I arrived 20 minutes early for a large party of 11 to make sure everything was in order. I was still seated 15 minutes late and people who'd checked in after me and with a similar sized group were seated before me. That to me was extremely frustrating. However, the food was served promptly and we made it well on time to our show.
Some in my party were not ok with the benched seating. Had we been seated earlier we could have requested the other table with booth style seating which would have easily fit our party, sadly, it was taken by the group seated before me who arrived AFTER I'd already checked in 20 min prior.
Now for the good. The food is phenomenal, so good that it made us forget out seating woes.
Grilled octopus and heirloom burrata salad were my personal favorites. Kebabs were all excellent. Can't go wrong eating here.
Cleo is always great. Service was a lot slower than usual. In the past they’ve had knowledge of our food allergies- not this time
I was looking for something different before going to the Pantages. This is so very close. The staff are aware that many patrons are on a time crunch to make the opening number. They worked unrushed but punctual to keep us on time.
The food is Mediterranean, well seasoned, fresh and in appropriate amounts. I will certainly go back.
Came here for an early birthday celebration before seeing Aladdin at Pantages. Food was delicious, service was extremely attentive. Our waiter was awesome and we also noticed how amazing the manager was. He helped with delivering drinks, refilling waters, bringing out dishes, it was really amazing to see that kind of teamwork while they were in dinner rush. A little pricey or the serving size, but still a great experience. I would say request a table along the walls for some privacy. Our table was inches in between two other tables and it was not intimate at all. Also because it’s a bit loud inside, it was hard to hear each other sometimes. Otherwise, we loved it!
Always a favorite. As a Pantages Season ticket holder, I eat here before every show!
Delicious and fun small plates enjoyed thoroughly by all.
For pre-theater dining, we needed a site near the Pantages, with parking, with a menu suitable for health-conscious dining. We got all that and more, with a fabulous Mediterranean menu and a bottle of Spanish wine that I'd fill a cellar with if I could. They were very accommodating to our time constraint, i.e. theater tickets. And as luck would have it, we went during Dine L.A. week and got a terrific special menu at a special price. I'll go back, discount or not.
The eggplant was incredible, the fried chicken, scallops and falafel not so great. Nice atmosphere though. Very close to the Pantages so a great pre dinner restaurant.
This is the second time that I have been at the restaurant before going to the Pantages. I love the food!!! There were 6 of us and we divided into 2 groups of 3- our group had 6 items between us. Our favorites were the amazing Brussell Sprouts, Tuna TarTar and the Artichokes. I will definitely be back and look forward to sharing our favorites and trying new items as well. The service was also very good, since we were going to the theater we needed to be finished by a certain time. We allowed 2 hours- which was perfect!
Cocktails are amazing the Cucumber martini is the best !Love the food... hummus and bread to die for... Service was great ! My only complaint is We had a party of 10, and they squeezed us into a table made for 8. I had made this reservation 2 weeks prior, we took it upon ourselves to add a smaller table to make more room. Hostess was not happy. It all worked out, but please next time do not smush a party of 10 in a table for 8.
Most things we had were shockingly delicious.
We LOVED the lamb tagine, beef kabob, and cucumber yogurt.
Their falafel was mediocre and on the dry side.
I was not a fan of their lamb shawarma. Despite it being indicated as one of their more popular dishes, it was so greasy that I couldn't even eat it.
Service was very good.
The atmosphere is rather loud and the tables are crammed tightly together - so it's not as intimate/romantic as one might otherwise expect (but still fun).
Great service. Drinks were outstanding. Love this place.
Great place to eat close to the Pantages. Menu is full of interesting small plates, very tasty. Great se vice.
This was a prrfect pre-theater dinner that had meat options for my husband, and vegan options for my daughter and me. No complaints! The food was delicious!
We go here often before the Pantages and are never disappointed. Food is so tasty and fairly healthy, too. We will change things up but will always get the hummus and naan in a bag. Yum!
Restaurant overall was nice. The service was amazing- the food was below expectation and not very authentic for Mediterranean food. Really great wine list. Great place to go for a tourist in Hollywood- maybe not a place for a local with a sophisticated palette. Great for a business meeting or a group with varying food preferences- it does accommodate vegetarian and limited gluten free options.
We went there just before a show. We ordered a number of dishes, all were quite good. My wife, a pescaterian, loved the salads and fish (branzini). They were also conscious of our time constraints. Overall a very good dining experience.
I loved the place however I had only one issue. While booking reservations I had mentioned that it was my anniversary and on comments I had mentioned it would be great if you would have got me a cake on my table.Would have been a surprise for my wife. However nothing of that sort happened and nobody asked me or got me anything on my table.I delayed ordering my deserts just in case if it was a surprise.Other than that it was a lovely place with great ambience to go out for dining.
We took a Indian friend couple to dinner here. She is a fantastic cook in her own right, and even she was impressed with the flavor and quality of the food, especially the Chicken Tagine. Glad we went, and will certainly return.
Excellent food - especially the whipped feta, brussel sprouts and lamb kebabs. Will definitely eat here again when visiting LA next time!
