We chose Cleo because it was close to the Pantages. It was the best choice we could have made. Our table was ready when we arrived. There were 13 of us. The food was beautiful and delicious. It came out in a timely manner, arriving hot and fresh. I would highly recommend Cleo for any occasion.
I went here for the first time with a group of 4. All of the food was delicious! My only complaint was the waitress bringing us the wrong order of shrimp, but she took it off the bill. She also added an extra portion of something we didn't order because the original order only came with 3 pieces. We didn't ask for that and she explained that the restaurant customarily does that to make sure everyone in the group can try it. I wish they would've asked rather than assuming we wanted an extra order, but other than that, the restaurant was great. Very yummy cocktails too.
We had the opportunity to visit Cleo before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages. Cleo was recommended by a good friend as a "Must eat" restaurant. We made our reservations and when we arrived, although the restaurant was very crowded, we were seated immediately. The decor was impressive as it has a ver Art Deco feel. Most of the patrons were dressed in business casual. The menu is varied wth many small bites, otherwise know as Tapas. We ordered the Merguez sausage, Spanakopita, Dolmades, Lamb Shawarma, Octopus and Borek along with a couple of adult beverages. The food was quite delicious as were the drinks. The staff had us in and out in just over an hour to make sure we made it to our musical on time. The staff were friendly and attentive.
An unexpectedly pleasant experience. We, like most of the reviewers here, were going to see Hamilton, and we found Cleo on Open Table. We weren't expecting too much given the neighborhood and its proximity to the Pantages.
Victoria, our server, asked if we had to make Hamilton. She then walked us through the menu and suggested sharing about four or so dishes. My wife ordered the moussakah and brussels sprouts and I ordered the hanger steak and sausage flatbread. All excellent.
For dessert Victoria suggested the baklava. Basically for two, it also included four different types of cookies.
The only downside is it is a little noisy because it is quite a large restaurant. But great food, great service. Good value.
We'll be back.
The mixed drinks and most of the tapas were excellent - I felt the moussaka was a little too cheesy - it tasted more like an Italian dish. All other moussaka I have eaten before had less than half of the cheese than this one. Other than that the food, ambience, drinks, and service were great!
I chose this restaurant because it was near the Pantages Theatre and we had tickets for a show. I had never been there before and based my decision on the reviews and the type of food. Middle Eastern Tapas - who knew? The three of us picked 3-4 plates each and every one hit all the right notes! What a great way to try a lot of different things, from mushrooms to roasted cauliflower. Every taste was different and distinct. Very vegetarian and celiac friendly. Service was quite attentive. They have fancy delicious cocktails too! I only wish we lived closer; we would go there often!
All our dinner food and service were terrific. Dessert was TERRIBLE! Ordered baklava. Got a plate of tasteless, dried out cookies—3 small bites were supposed to be baklava. They were dry, flat, hard. A very poor presentation. Very disappointing. So just enjoy the food and go to pie hole for dessert!
We arrived at 5:30 for pre Hamilton dinner. Dishes came quickly and ordering more dishes was easy.
Brussel sprouts ordered multiple times. Delicious. Everything we had was enjoyed by all. Would definitely go again. By the time we left, about 7 ish, it was packed.
Pre-show dinner. Great time, prompt service. Only annoying factor that put a damper on the evening was that service tried to seat my group of ethnic individuals at a table in the bar when there were plenty of empty, desirable tables in the main dining room. Would have otherwise been a great experience.
We had a show to get to (and they knew). All of our food came out at once except the falafel. I waited and waited to eat since the meal was sort of based around them. Nobody told us the fryer was behind but a good 20-25 minutes later they came out — pretty lame since we had to leave for the show in 5 minutes.. I would have cancelled them if I had known. Communication is key. It’s pricey, but great food and cocktails.
Pre-theater stop as usual. They've recently moved their opening hours earlier, which allows a bit more time for leisure dining. The menu features a number of shareable small plates, and some suitable craft beers to accompany. The earlier hours were fine, but perhaps contributed to a busy night for the staff. Service was very slow, even though we were taking our time -
our server only made infrequent visits and never actually served anything, with others delivering food and drinks. Perhaps that why he wouldn't know the drinks we'd ordered 20 minutes ago hadn't arrived from the bar.
Having visited many times before we knew what we wanted to order in small plates and kebabs, but we messed up by ordering everything at the start, hoping the dishes would arrive in some kind of sequence - not so. Next time we'll order our next couple of plates when the first arrives to control pairing our items the way we want. Not to be missed - the Lebeneh and flatbread (plus any of the kebabs, plus the brussel sprouts, etc...)
We went to Cleo because we were looking for a restaurant with options for our vegan friend. The menu was quite vegan-friendly but outstanding on non-vegan dishes as well. We especially enjoyed the brussel sprouts, hummus, fresh bread (more like nan) curry cauliflower, duck in phyllo and fried chicken.
My only complaints were the noise level (very loud music) and parking ($14 valet). Given the restaurant's proximity to the Pantages theater and the lack of available street parking, I suppose that's to be expected but I thought $14 for restaurant parking was quite high.
