Clayton's Siesta Grille
No need to leave the Key for dependable and affordable experience. You will likely meet somebody from management too as they are hopeful for your return business. I would get a reservation though !
Clayton's is a really wonderful, predictably good, dining choice. The seafood options are particularly tasty including the accompanying veggies and potatoes/rice/pasta. I've had the trout, the salmon and the grouper on various occasions, all prepared to perfection, always with a taste twist away from ordinary. Salads are fresh and in generous proportions. The service is excellent. Everyone is friendly, attentive and more than willing to be responsive to special changes or requests. Tina was our server at last visit and could not have been more delightful! At peak dining hours, indoor tables and the bar area do get pretty noisy. However, with heaters ready on the wrap around, outdoor patio, this alternative seating is a lovely option. Getting to Clayton's is easy, a bit away from the hustle, bustle crowds of downtown Sarasota and other Siesta Key locales. Parking in front of the restaurant is limited but can usually be found down the street within easy walking distance. We frequently takes friends and family. All have thoroughly enjoyed the varied dining choices at Clayton's. Highly recommended!!
Great place for large parties. Unfortunately our table was not available when we checked in and we had to wait 30+ minutes. Once seated we had good service and the food was quite good - really enjoyed the scallops. To minimize the noise and enjoy the weather we sat outside!
This was our first visit to Clayton's. We both ordered the Trout. Its was excellent! The service was excellent as well.
Based on this experience, we're confident that our next visit will be as good and we're confident that a different entre will be just as good. We are new residents of the area and have been sampling different restaurants ton determine our favorites. Clayton's in now on our list.
Not the experience we have had at Clayton’s. Service was very sub par and slow. What a shame as we brought two other couples after saying how great Clayton’s is.
Great as usual!
Service was fine, waiter was attentive and accommodating to our needs. Food was good. My short ribs were excellent. I thought the menu could have been a bit more diversified. Also, tried to use a Visa gift card and was told they don't take gift cards which I thought was strange.... An ok evening.. Nothing to rave about.
Pizza was excellent
One of my favorite places on Siesta Key. A hidden gem!
Clayton's is our favorite place to go. Food is consistently good and service is quick but doesn't make one feel rushed. Most of the time I have the short ribs-delicious. Salads are always good and crisp and not overwhelmed with dressing.
Casual atmosphere with upscale food!
Food is always amazing
Have been multiple times. Fish tacos were great, but the margarita was only so so.
Always love their fish tacos and short ribs! Calamari as an appetizer is a favorite too!
Wonderful service. Always a good meal
Everything was fine except the waitress was not good and very slow.
We had a great time, food excellent and the service very good. Will definitely come again.
New Year’s Eve early dinner.
Kelly our server was awesome
Made our time with family memorable.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Sarasota and on siesta key and we go there very, very frequently. For the very first time, on our arrival, the hostess was extremely rude – it turns out she’s the manager and one wonders how she became a manager with the customer service added to that she has. I had booked on OpenTable and in the special request box I had asked for a booth. She argued with me that I have not asked for a booth and was very rude about it. I have no idea when I book on the OpenTable what goes through the restaurant or what does not but somebody needs to teach her about Customer Service. The way she spoke to me could turn the nonregular off to never go back to Clayton‘s.
The food was outstanding as always and our server was terrific. Clayton himself was there and I tried to get his attention to tell him what happened with the manager/hostess but was not able to get him over to our table as the restaurant was extremely busy
We sincerely apologize that you felt that you were treated rudely. Your Open Table reservation booked a table outside as there were no inside tables available at the time that you had booked. You made a note in your reservation that you would prefer inside, as you prefer the chairs inside. No booths were available at that time. We do our best to accommodate all requests, and even with a completely full restaurant, we were able to accommodate your request to sit inside and hope that you enjoyed.
Tasty food. Happy ambience. Attentive waitress even though kitchen was backed up. A good time.
Family owned and run establishment. Old world Florida and casual. Very nice servers. Haven’t changed menu in quite awhile but why when its working ! We sat in the patio area which wasnt as nice even though it was covered. Now to the food- better than i remembered it! Salmon prepared perfectly as were the scallops. Dessert yum! Decent wine list.
Will be going again.
Die Reservierung über opentable hat perfekt funktioniert, obwohl das Restaurant voll war (Weihnachts-Dinner!). Das Essen war sehr gut. Preis-Leitung ist voll OK.
Food and service is top-notch!! Clayton's never fails to deliver!
We had a wonderful dinner. Service and food was very nice.
Service was excellent. The chowder and grouper were delicious. Great atmosphere. Will be back!
Great service and island atmosphere
Great drinks and above average food. Could be less expensive. Cost $100 for 2 people with 1 beer. Owner always there runs a great place
This was my first time at Claytons and we LOVED it! We had macadamia encrusted grouper served over mashed potatoes with wild mushrooms and some greens and it was to die for! We also enjoyed the cocktails. Our waiter Joseph was fabulous and had good recommendations. Such as key lime pie and creme brûlée...we had to order one of each! When we were ready to leave there was torrential downpours and we tried to wait it out since we were walking. Then Andrea, a waitress we hadn’t met but noticed we were stressing over the weather; pulled up and offered to drive us home! We were thrilled and Clayton should know how great his employees are!!!! We felt very comfortable there; just a great vibe kind of place! Will definitely return next time in the area!
Normally my wife and I impressed with service at Clayton’s (which is why we introduced our new neighbors to the restaurant that evening) but we were all put off by our waiter.
Family early holiday celebration. We met the owner, Clayton who was super nice. The grouper special was fantastic!
Had a fabulous birthday dinner here, everyones meal was amazing! Great spot for brunch also!
Dinner was delicious as usual and the service was top notch!
Food was excellent! Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful. (I think his name was Josh?)
We had reservations for 7:15 but were not seated until 7:45. A bit upsetting as on the website they say if you are 15 min late you forfeit your table.
Great local restaurant! Owner is always present. The food, staff, and atmosphere always great! Always being our visitors when the come.
Maybe the BEST scallops I’ve ever had. Atmosphere and service were very good.
Garbage smell outside was strong and repugnant. Bathrooms broken. Service was great. Food was great but limited menu selection ( no chicken entree really???) Been coming here for 8+ years. May not come back.
We felt rushed with the service a little as different servers kept coming to the table between appetizers and entrees, however the service was very good overall and generous at the end. It could have been more relaxed.
We have been to Clayton’s several times over the years but never for Thanksgiving. A few of us ordered off the menu and others ordered the traditional thanksgiving dinner. Everything was delicious and the staff was incredibly gracious and professional. Thanks for making our holiday vacation dinner a great one. We will be back next time we visit SK.
We’ve been a loyal customer for over 15 years and never disappointed. You can Have amazing fish dishes or default for pizza and tacos. What ever you order it will be great. Try it next visit to the Sarasota area.
Service was very good, professional.
Decor-simple, very Florida Oceanside. Casual dining.
Food was good (fish tacos were alright, neither good nor bad. Too much cabbage I think). SHORT RIBS were The Bomb though (with risotto and perfectly cooked crisp green beans and carrots sauté) !!! (Risotto was the best I’ve ever had in my life! And trust me I had plenty of it in my long life in New York, especially working hand in hand with Italians)- just for that risotto alone I’ll return again and again! Mussels appetizer- were cooked correctly and fresh, but I found lacking on flavor. Special of the day- sweet potato/ginger soup was tasty.
Overall I’d say.: Place is good. If you go there - definitely get the Short ribs with Risotto (main course).
