Chef's Seasonal Presentation
The service was horrible… Our meals were not hot so we sent them back and it took a long time for them to come back. Never received an apology and did not want to take anything off the bill… The service was horrible which was a disappointment as we were there for my husband‘s birthday. We would not go back or recommend this restaurant.
Special occasion, anniversary! Beautiful setting, wonderful, professional service. Always love the food, variety of offerings paired with wine recommendations. We will definitely go there every year when we come to Ogunquit, off the beaten path and very relaxing.
Beautiful location, exceptional service. Sitting outside was lovely and peaceful. The food was excellent. I had the chef's seasonal special which was haddock with broccolini and mashed potatoes. To end the evening we had the creme brulee, it was delicious! I will be recommending Clay Hill Farm to my family and friends.
As a family we have been going to clay hill for 40 years. It is always great service, food is excellent and the staff is wonderful!
The location and service was awesome but the food was absolutely pitiful. I hate leaving bad reviews, but we literally laughed at how bad our food was. I got the prime rib ($43 market price) with mashed potatoes and broccolini and I couldn’t detect one seasoning on any portion. The steak was one solid color and tasted literally like nothing. The only saving grace was the horseradish sauce they served with it and I had to dunk each piece of meat in it for it to taste like anything. The mashed potatoes and broccolini, completely tasteless. Couldn’t see even a spec of pepper. My husband got the chefs special which was a roasted haddock with lemon and mashed potatoes. His entire plate was one solid color, white. You couldn’t even taste the lemon somehow. Both meals I swear had not even one dash of any seasoning. And you could be thinking we had covid with no taste, but nope, the food was just that bad. We were also the youngest people in the entire restaurant by about 20-25 years so we thought maybe they cater the food to older taste buds? No idea.
We’ve never had a meal that pricey and that awful. We did have the brussell sprouts for an appetizer and those were awesome and full of flavor which made our entree a total mystery on how it could be so bad.
Our server was great and we still tipped appropriately because the food wasn’t her fault. And sitting outside was nice and peaceful. Again, I hardly ever write bad reviews and hate doing so, but we came here from Texas on our babymoon and spent $$$$ for the worst meal we’ve honestly ever eaten.
Wonderful 33rd wedding anniversary!
Excellent dinner in a lovely environment. Very good service by very nice servers
Our favorite place to dine. Everything was typically nice but the steaks were not as good as usual.
The setting was beautiful, like going to an old friend’s home for dinner. The food was amazing, service was great, even gave my husband a birthday card with his dessert. This was the first trip of many to dine here!
Food was lukewarm, mediocre at best.
Service was fantastic
Enjoyed Clay Hill tremendously. Service and food outstanding. Beautiful setting and lively dining rooms. Can't wait to go again.
Food was "good" to "very good", however for the prices charged it should be "excellent".
The ambience they are going for is "unapologetically classic", which I guess if that's your thing, great. It's an old farm house setting, but the interior is very dated. And not 1800's dated, I'm talking 1980's.
Acoustic ceiling tiles, ugly drapery and ceiling fans, and soft jazz elevator music.
We were disappointed, particularly at the price point.
Setting was nice. Food was not up to what should be expected.
Service and food were exceptional. We had prime rib and seafood stuffed haddock, both outstanding.
One of the best birthday dinners ever!! We sat outside and enjoyed every second. It’s was delicious food, great service and wonderful ambiance. The weather was nice enough to dine out. We will come back.
Its worth the short drive up the road off the highway. food was wonderful in flavor and presentation. the service is exceptional. fine dining .
Dinner after a show at the Ogunquit play house
Location is beautiful but food was very average. Had the lobster and shrimp scampi over fettuccine. The pasta was all stuck together in a big clump.
Excellent food and service!
We asked to outside seating and it was worth it. The ambience was so nice and pleasant it was worth the money. I tried chef special for the day (swordfish) it was so good. To end the evening we order another chef special strawberry infused cheesecake and it was heavenly. I had a great time at the Clay Hill Farm and definitely will be recommending it to friends and family.
Enjoyed meal was excellent and the service was quit good
Party of 8 with kids. Food was great, limited kids menu but had the staples. Beautiful gardens around the farm. Suggest sitting outside. Suggestion to restaurant is to expand their outside seating.
Being at Clay Hill Farm is like walking into a 1960’s bingo hall complete with cafeteria. The food was terrible and either tasteless or over cooked. If you are under the age of 90, you will be out of place here. The only thing the farm had to offer was quiet.
Wonderful food and service in a great atmosphere.
Birthday dinner ,
The setting was beautiful and good ambience. Enjoyed piano players music. Lobster bisque was very good.
Drinks & service was good, Caesar salad very good.
Entrees were not very good, 2 of us ordered the stuffed chicken it was dry & tasteless mashed potatoes very salty
My daughter ordered the lobster pasta, had to send it back
Looked like they didn’t drain the pasta well , very watery & tasteless. Felt like wedding food
Overall was just ok, my husband got a steak he liked it
We were on vacation so every meal is special
The server and staff were very nice but this place was pretty awful - the lobster and shrimp scampi was a bath of wine and multiple cloves of garlic with zero flavor. The fish was dry. Calamari with kimchi was interesting but everything else was just boring and tasteless. Gorgeous setting - such a shame - they need a full dining room and menu overhaul.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere
The service was excellent
The piano music was very enjoyable
Always an excellent spot to dine
Everything was wonderful, from our appetizers to dessert. Starting with lobster bisque and beef pinwheels, mussels with fries, and a Caesar salad with anchovies- nothing disappointed. We all decided on the same entrees. Four crab and lobster stuffed haddock dinners, topped with Newburgh. Our server Heather was kind, patient and attentive. Our group of four sister friends planned a special birthday dinner celebration, as one of us was celebrating a milestone birthday. Some staff member picked up on our conversation and realized we had two birthdays at the table (this month). While we sipped our cappuccinos, our desserts of lemon pudding cake with blueberries, flourless chocolate cake, and bourbon creme brulee arrived and were presented with a card for each birthday girl, from the staff at Clay Hill Farm. What a nice and unique touch. 10 out of 10 I would highly recommend.
This was so incredible thank you thank you!!
We love Clay Hill Farm. It is a great place to eat outdoors. The food is excellent and the service is attentive.
I have dined at CHF every year during my summer vacation. This was the first time I can say I was disappointed. I ordered the prime rib. It was cold, tough to the point of being rubbery, and also, the outside edge was like hardened cardboard. The edge was so hard and bad tasting, I had to spit it out. I only eat red meat one time per week, and was totally bummed out that I chose this meal to order my red meat.
I know this might sound picky, but when I ordered my diet coke, it had probably 4 ounces of diet coke and the rest was ice. When I asked for another one with very little ice, I was charged for 2 diet cokes. C'mon now. At $3 a piece, that is ridiculous.
I will say that the crab cake appetizer was very good. My fellow diner had the shrimp and lobster scampi, and she said she was very pleased with her meal.
Maybe it was just a fluke that I got a bad meal. I am hoping so, as I love the atmosphere and have always received great service. I will try it again ordering the same meal. If it happens again, CHF will be off my list of restaurants in Ogunquit for good.
We had dinner with 2 friends who had never been to Clay Hill Farm before and they loved it. Food was outstanding, very good service, and a nice table outside on the deck. It's a beautiful setting. We could listen to the birds and the piano music coming from inside (until the music at a nearby wedding venue got louder). Lovely dinner before a show at the Playhouse, which is very close by. Looking forward to coming back soon.
It is a very quaint restaurant, the service was fabulous the food was magnificent we enjoyed it so much we went back the following night
Excellent Chef's Haddock, simple, cooked perfectly. Great service as always.
