A most pleasant atmosphere; timely service. The menu selection was varied, the food tasteful. The servers were pleasant and always available.
We were disappointed in Clay Hill. The facility is run down and the meal was just ok. I wouldn’t recommend it, nor will we return.
Great to come here after Ogunquit Playhouse to celebrate our yearly fall get together with six ladies of friendship for over 50 years. Seated right away and waitress came immediately to introduce herself and presented menus. One person has fish allergy and waitress (Kristii) really knew the menu to assist and make suggestions. She and another waitress were there to answer questions and deliver appetizers, wine and meals, not rushing us, making us feel very welcomed. Butternut soup was delicious and entrees were outstanding. Steaks were cooked to perfection. “Risotto was the best” “Cod special was delicious”. The one common theme was the service. We all agreed Kristie was probably one of the best waitresses we have ever had, detailed, happy, great personality and knowing when not to come to table as not to interrupt donrond sharing a story. These ladies have traveled far and have dined many places and they were so glad I chose Clay Hill for dinner. It was perfect!
We took my parents for their 50th anniversary and my dad is still talking about our meal and experience. We are looking forward to going back in the spring and walking the grounds of the bird sanctuary.
Food was delicious!
The roast duck was perfectly prepared!
Prime rib was juicy and tender- large cut wasn’t that large, though.
Service was pleasant and attentive.
Atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable.
Beautiful gardens on property.
Always great food with very unique menu options but not "crazy" stuff... I had the coffee rubbed NY Strip with a maple whiskey sauce - incredible. We went there for our 26th anniversary and it's the perfect place for a very nice romantic dinner. The live piano player provides a nice ambiance.
Wonderful country setting, nice clean facility, excellent service, but unfortunately food was a major disappointment. Lobster bisque ($11) was an extremely small portion for that price and came out cold, we were told later the kitchen staff did not notice the breaker had been tripped not the heating element.
Strip Steak ($32) was an average piece of steak you would find in the grocery store, it was cooked uneven but had decent flavor. Baked Stuffed Haddock ($32) was served at barely room temperature, possibly undercooked. Did not eat, returned to kitchen. Very disappointed.
We had a reservation and were seated right away when we arrived. The waiter was there promptly and gave us outstanding service. The appetizers and salads were outstanding. The lobster bisque was the best I ever had. The wine pairings on the menu were helpful. We were six people from out of state on a weekend vacation and all of us were impressed with the experience. The prime rib one of us ordered was the best he ever had. We plan on returning next year!
Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance. Waitress was very attentive and the food was excellent!
Loved it all... the people, the place, the food and the hospitality...
Katie the bartenderess was wonderful as was Kiera the waitress...
Nick Spinelli was warm and his music a perfect background for a perfect Dinner!!
Maddy and Dick Pearlman
This place has ruined all future dining experiences for me because the food was so amazing I don’t think anything can ever compare.
had my daughters rehearsal dinner at Clay Hill and have never had a bad meal there.
We had a fabulous experience dining at Clay Hill Farm. From the moment we pulled up to the restaurant the staff was super friendly and welcoming. This is the perfect spot for any special occasion. The grounds are beautiful and inside is so nice and cozy. The piano in the background was a nice touch. Our meals were fabulous! We truly can’t wait to come back here!
Truly enjoyed the experience. Excellent food and beautiful setting
Exceeded our expectations. Lobster bisque and mussels were among the best I’ve ever had. Service was excellent. Setting was beautiful. Right balance between elegant and casual. I highly recommend it.
We arrived after an afternoon at Ogunquit Playhouse. I love the valet parking! Seated quickly and waitress came right away with menus. Gave us time to look over wine lists and came back and took the drink orders. After serving drinks, reviewed all the specials for the evening and left us to decide on dinner. While discussing our choices, we glanced around to see how full the dining room was. Very cozy and our neighbors were very friendly. They were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. This was my 4th or 5th time at the restaurant. I brought my three friends who had never been there. We choose some of the specials which were excellent. Pumpkin soup and beet salad! The special was a salmon dish which was delicious. Two of us enjoyed the salmon and two enjoyed the filet Mignon and stuffed haddock. The staff was very attentive from filling the water to bringing hot rolls. After the meal we enjoyed the blueberry cheese cake which was very creamy and after dinner drinks. When we left, we felt very full and satisfied with such a wonderful meal and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This was our first time at Clay Hill farm, and it was a really special experience. The service and attention to detail were excellent. The food was amazing. The location (both inside and the grounds outside) was beautiful. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was good but not exceptional. Service and view were great though.
One of my favorite Maine restaurants. Never fails to satisfy. Worth the drive.
A friend recommended this restaurant while we were visiting in Oqunquit, Maine and we were very pleased with our dining experience. It was a very pretty restaurant with a beautiful setting. We were able to observe the birds, chipmunks and other wildlife from our indoor table. They also had a singer performing while we enjoyed our dinner. They had a varied menu selection and the food was very fresh and healthy, definitely from farm to table. We would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return the next time we are in Maine.
We had a wonderful dinner and service was excellent. There was only one vegan dinner and dessert option but it was so delicious (beet pasta w/aioli; grapefruit sorbet) I didn’t feel I was doing without. My dinner companions loved their meals too.
This was just a lovely find. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and couldn't have been more happy with the food or the service. We started off with oysters, lobster bisque and the mussels. All of them were fabulous. The mussels may have been the best I've ever tried. I had the seafood stuffed haddock and my husband had the lamb shank. Both were flavorful and delicious. My only regret was not leaving enough room for dessert because others around us were ordering desserts and raving about them. We will definitely be back here again!
Clay Hill Farms was one of the best dining experiences we had while in Maine. The food was so well prepared and delicious, especially the firecracker lobster stew, stuffed haddock and Caesar salad starter. The only issue we had was with the service, as at times, we had to flag down a server when we wanted a drink, or silverware replacement. This was despite the fact two people shared tabled responsibility but didn’t seem to communicate with each other causing inattentive service at times. Still all in all we’d return again because of the fabulous food.
Sadly, It wasn't as good as it has been in the past. We went on a quiet week night for our anniversary, and despite the restaurant being at less than half capacity, we were seated in tight quarters with several other full tables in one corner of a room. Kind of tough to see several empty wind seats open in a half full restaurant while you're seated like cattle. A small annoyance, but the table we were at wobbled, and you had to be careful not to spill a drink. The service was very good, not one complaint there, and the steak I ordered was cooked as I asked. However, they offered only one steak on the menu, and it was not close to tender. I had to chew my way through a $32 NY strip. The sides were bland and looked, and tasted, as though they had been prepared the day before. My wife had the seafood stuffed haddock, which was average at best. With 4 glasses of wine, dinner and tip was about $150 out the door. While not a fortune, you can find much better for the same cost. We used to love this restaurant, but when we return to the area, we'll be trying other places.
Lovely dining and service Excellent food Scenic view of the gardens Great place for a celebration or date
There were several mix-ups with the food ordered. perhaps coming after the main summer season may account for that. Cocktails and wine list are adequate, the food was very well prepared.
Everything was as expected from our previous dining experiences. Only negative was as a result of attending a performance at the local playhouse there playbill contained a 15% discount which we told our waiter about only to find our check did not include it. However making him aware that it wasn't the check was corrected. His assistant was very attentive to us and our needs.
This place has been on my bucket list for so long. Finally had chance to go. Did not disappoint it was outstanding highly recommend for all who love upscale food done impeccably upscale but not pretentious. I savored every bite
Top notch...all the way. Elegance from the valet parking to dessert.
Really looking forward to our birthday celebration at Clay Hill Farm, but no mention of birthday (it was put in the reservation and asked for a nice table). We were put in a big dining room that looked like a banquet room. They did seat us in a smaller dining room when requested.
The food was very good, but the service was terrible. There were two bus loads of people that were brought to the restaurant while we were there.
It wasn’t what I expected!
Excellent meal with great ambiance and service. Love it.
Beef pastry appetizer soggy and without mustard sauce would have been tasteless. BBQ chicken main defrosted in microwave was watery and tasteless. Old and tired decor not helpful either. Definite no.
The prime rib was very disappointing. It was fatty and served rare when it was ordered medium. The lobster bisque was excellent. The decor was tired.
The decor really needs an update. Old gives off a dirty feeling
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Very nice ambience. Nice menu and great service. They had a piano player in the bar area. They have a larger dining room as well as a smaller one which we prefer.
what a wonderful place / food was amazing / service superb cant wait to go back
The staff was so friendly and the food was great - a wonderful dining experience!
A fine Anniversary dinner as expected, but with two choices of haddock we will not order the "stuffed" version again as the sage dressing resulted in a flavor conflict with the seafood sauce and rissotto. The lemon broiled haddock was excellent. Would like to see some finishing touches such as an hors d'oeuvre appetizer with our cocktail, a choice of bread/rolls and a small pot of coffee on the table. The valet parking and entertainment are "finishing touches" that will most likely have us return.
the BEST lobster bisque EVER!! have been to this restaurant multiple times and have always left impressed and satisfied!
Clay Hill Farm was good though not excellent. The spot is very pretty but have to say the restaurant is looking a little tired, it could use an update. The food was very good and had a nice menu.
The grounds are nice but inside seemed a little run down for the type of restaurant it is and used to be.
