The ambiance was outstanding...a table by the window was ideal. There was a duo playing which was very mellow and added to the experience. The baby spinach salad was generous but not too large with a maple dressing that was delicious. The lemon haddock was very fresh, and chicken thighs with chardonay/mushroom sauce very good...all seasoned well. The blueberry/almond cheesecake was devine! Would go back in a minute...for a special occasion.

Very pleasant evening made even more special with the pianist. I hope in the near future the menu changes since this is the third time we have been this year.

Seemed to be short staffed, we waited for service for quite awhile. Our server didn't know the specials, we had a late reservation. Starters were small and not great. Entrees are over priced and frankly not worth the cost. My meal came with fresh pasta that was boiled to mush. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

One of our party had the chicken and it was over cooked. This is our second visit where that dish had that problem. Two different people had same complaint. The other dishes were good but not over the top to warrant the cost.

Diablo pasta dish not worth it. Lobster bisque is amazing just needs a little more lobster. Special for the day was salmon, very tasty. Great service, loved live piano and parking attendant was superb.

Always a pleasant, positive dining experience. Duck was excellent, Seafood far Diablo was good. Drinks were good, but I like my martini filled near the top of the glass. Enjoyed the piano music, maybe a bit to loud. Service was adaquate.

We were grieving the loss of our 16 yr old Cocker Spaniel, yet it was my husband’s birthday. What better place to spend a grateful evening at sunset? Great food, soothing music, attentive service and lovely atmosphere! Thank you so much!!

We were quickly seated for our reservation and drink orders were taken. We asked for and received time to enjoy our beverages before food orders were taken. The wait staff were polite, attentive and professional. The food was of quality, cooked as requested and attractively served. We will happily return.

We celebrated our birthdays at Clay Hill. Family members had recommended it to us and we were not disappointed. We were seated right in front of the fireplace, which was perfect for the chilly evening. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was incredible. This was our first, but certainly not our last visit to Clay Hill.

We've been going to Clay Hill Farm since at least 2001 but had not been there for a meal in a couple of years. I was a little disappointed, everything that I ordered was just a little off. The maple butternut squash soup was odd, had a strange almost cheesy taste to it and it was too thick. The short ribs were cooked well and had a delicious sauce but the accompanying mashed potatoes were too thin and tasteless and the vegetables had been simmering all day and had lost texture and individual taste. Finally, the creme brulee was lemon and again a strange, too thick consistency. Now, all this being said, the remaining members of my party enjoyed their meals. One family member commented that "the four green beans and the few potatoes accompanying her duck were old school." The wait staff gets high marks, they were so nice. The decor definitely needs a little facelift. This experience left me a little sad since we've celebrated some milestone family birthdays and many, many mothers' days there amongst other special meals.

Two out of 4 of us didn’t like their meals because the chicken and pork chops were over cooked. The stuffed haddock and fra diavlo was good.

I made my reservation online but I also called the restaurant because I wanted to make sure I was going to get a specific table for my daughter special 21st birthday when I got there nobody knew that I had requested the fireplace and somebody was sitting at the fireplace table that moved from their other table so I was very disappointed if I would have known That I wasn’t able to get that particular tableI would have gone somewhere else

I'd definitely mention that we visited CHF to a friend, but I don't know if I'd go as far as recommending it. Neither of us were really wow'd by the food or service. The atmosphere was quaint, but a bit outdated and discrepant. The food was average, but had a "fine dining" price tag. The service was a bit "drive-by", as I like to call it. Meaning, a quick stop, a quick question, and already walking away before you really have time to say anything but "good". The piano player was really skilled and is something you don't see at a lot of other restaurants. Valet parking was a nice touch and a good job for the younger gentleman doing it. Desserts were fantastic and notably homemade.

Dinning on Valentine’s Day can sometimes disappoint because of a lack of staff or rushing people along. Non of that happened. Service was great, food fabulous and our overall experience was simply amazing. If they hit those marks on a day like Valentine’s Day I can only imagine what it would be like on a less busy day.
Highly recommend.

Overall a very good experience. It was our first time dining at Clay Hill Farm. Both the food are service were very good! Our only noteworthy concern (a bit significant) was that the menu was incorrectly labeled indicating several items could be prepared Gluten Free. Both my husband and I have celiac so this could have become an issue for us. We questioned several menu items and were told that they had just changed their menu and the gluten labeling was not accurate. Our waitress took the matter very seriously and acted quickly to clarify with the kitchen exactly which items we could order gluten free.

While staying in York, my husband and I wanted a quiet meal. We went to Clay Hill once before and was not disappointed this time either.

The service is excellent and the food is even better. Being from New England, we enjoy chowder and the lobster bisque was amung the best we have ever had.

The Creme brûlée was also amazing.

We will be back.
