I had heard really good things about Clark’s restaurant. I selected this restaurant, as it was a special occasion, a birthday for my boyfriend. The food was great, the service was also really good. He wanted french fries. We were told that they were not served in the dining room. I thought that the “no french fry” rule reminded me of a private club. I was not looking for a “private club experience”. It was pretty expensive and because it seemed a little “stiff”, I will not be returning in the future. Just wasn’t as fun a place as I had hoped.

The food was just average but the prices were high. Filet, tiny, $36, could have had better at home. Excellent service. Boring interior.

Clarke's never fails to provide an amazing dining experience! Their food is always extremely tasty (especially the risotto). I appreciate the fact that their menu is always changing. My husband always gets the risotto (with prawn and lobster) and I usually try something new. This time it was the filet with roasted Brussels sprouts. I also had the roasted wild mushrooms on the side. Their portions are very generous (I made mine into two full meals). Clarke's provides a nice ambience for a celebration or a quiet date night.

It is a pleasure to dine at Clarke's. Always a simple and delicious menu, wine, cocktails, atmosphere, and fantastic service. The perfect place for couples or family gatherings. If you've never been, be sure to try the Maine lobster risotto. You will not be disappointed.

So, so. Nothing horrible but nothing excellent. Food was decent for the price. I was disappointed by the menu choices. Nothing stood out.

Restaurant was extremely quiet for a Saturday night. So quiet that after dinner we went to another restaurant for drinks that was more lively.

Service was okay. They were attentive and helpful. The one thing that irritated me was the restaurant is of average size and when my wife and I were seated there was only 1 other couple in the restaurant. We were talking, laughing, and enjoying our date. A group of 3 came in and the host sat them at the table right next to us. Literally, their table edge is less than 24 inches from our table. At this point there are only 7 guests total in the restaurant. Plenty of open seating! Why sit them right next to us? The rest of the night my wife and I had to talk softly so we didn't feel rude to the group next to us.

Bottom line, average all around. Nothing excellent but nothing horrible either. For us, there are plenty of better options in Lake Oswego or West Linn.

the only down side of Clarke's was that we felt rushed. We were in and out in less than an hour. They need to slow down. They only had one other table besides the group celebrating a birthday. We plan on returning.

Love the risotto, always good with plenty of lobster and shrimp. Homemade soups are always a treat as well, and their wine list includes the luscious Pamplin JRG red. Service is attentive without being obtrusive. Cappuccino makes a nice finish to a lovely meal.

Well I hadn't been to Clarkes for awhile so we went with another couple on a Wednesday night. My overall impression is that the restaurant has run out of energy. For most of the evening we were the only table.

The signature lobster risotto was good but not great and the rest of the menu was uninspiring. Service was fine although timing of the courses was hurried.

Wonderful menu. This was our first time dining here despite living in the area for many years. It was a great experience. We are a family of four and will often split meals to avoid having massive amounts of leftovers that tend to go to waste. We each ordered from the prix fixe menu and were not at all disappointed. The portions were just right, the selections delicious (trout or pasta as the main course) and we enjoyed every minute. The regular menu offers fabulous choices, too. If it had just been me and my husband, we would have enjoyed any number of the appetizers and a nice selection from their wine list. All the staff from the hostess who greeted us to the wait staff who helped us were friendly, welcoming and attentive. We noted that the restaurant has a few areas for private dining. It would be a nice venue for a small private event. We will be back.

The service was great! Food was not. The ribeye steaks were $36 and about a half inch thick. They were ordered medium rare, but that's not how they came. It's difficult to make them medium rare when they are that thin. The gnocchi was supposed to be cooked in brown butter, however it had no brown butter taste, nor was there any brown butter at the bottom of the dish. Sautéed mushrooms were ordered as a side, but didn't arrive until the meal all but eaten...it wasn't at all busy, so why did it take so long? We overheard that they recently got a new chef. Hopefully soon, the food quality gets to the level of the cost. We won't go back.

Visited on one of the hottest days of year AC OK but not great. Seating in restaurant was close compromising intimacy. Acoustics poor for privacy. Service prompt and friendly. Main entrée was well prepared and presented smartly and artistic. Over all value acceptable but not exceptional. My advise, give it a try, make up your own mind, after all the true test is will you return, I might.

It was date night for my husband and I and we had a very nice time at Clarke's. We took advantage of the $25 3-course Monday. The marionberry blueberry soup was OUT OF THIS WORLD! We both had the lobster prawn risotto....yum! And I had the lavender lemon drop....double yum!! There was a loud party of happy women in the room which got a little quieter when the door was closed...oh well. The creme brulee was as good as I've had and my husband was glad that I wasn't able to finish mine.

Service was forgettable. We arrived while place was fairly full and left with only one other table full in the main dining room. Got salad, finished then got bread, finished then got entree too much later. Salmon ravioli were way too salty, and we like salt. When we left our bread plates were still there.

We have been dining at Clarke's three/four times annually for years and have never had such a poor dining experience there.
Cocktails: A+
Baked Brie and Crab appetizer: D Over baked and dry
Caesar Salad: A+
Lobster Risotto: D Under cooked and still crunchy
Server: A
We certainly hope that this was just a one time occurrence.

I frequent Clarke's bar for its hamburger and truffle French fries. Clarke's knows how to cook a burger rare and they have a nice selection of Cabs. So when it came to selecting a neighborhood restaurant to celebrate my birthday with family, I chose Clarke's dining room. The dining room has a completely different menu and I was excited to try one of the many seafood offerings. That was a huge mistake. We had to send back both seafood entrees as well as the crab and brie appetizer. All three smelled "fishy" and the appetizer tasted like canned tuna and was dry as a bone -- without a sign of brie anywhere. The upside of the evening: Our server was gracious and we enjoyed visiting with couples at a nearby table. My advice --- stick to the bar menu.

We've eaten at Clark's several times over many years, and always enjoyed it. This last time however, our meal was rather bland, and the entire middle part of the salmon was undercooked. We ordered the brie and crabmeat appetizer, the salmon and the risotto entrees, As far as the flavor, they could have all been the same thing.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the quiet. We had an out of town guest, so we were able to carry on a nice conversation. our waiter was very attentive. Two of us in our party had the 28 day aged New York steak special. We were both quite disappointed in the steak.

Solid fare that is well executed. Everyone should find something on the menu (I am veggie, spouse is red meat lover, son likes likes light proteins). We all enjoyed our menu selection. Service is a slow paced. which is what we wanted. We had our son visit from college and wanted to spend time talking.

Really great little place nestled in the streets of downtown Lake Oswego. We loved our main dishes and desserts, but we were really disappointed in the "artisan" cheese plate. Both presentation and what was served. Certainly not worth the price. The entrees were also a little spendy for the quantity, but tasted great. Good atmosphere, very posh.

We had Valentine' Day dinner and chose the steak. I commented tha there was a disparity in the sizes but the server assured me they were equal in weight although one was clearly twenty five percent larger. The steaks were poorly cooked or rather overcooked and we were only able to tolerate eating half. The server did delete the charges for our drinks.
Very disappointing!

Clarke's has typically been a good restaurant, serving well-cooked meals. However, my wife and I had gone there for Valentine's Day and our anniversary, and although the food was good, the experience was very sub-par.
First, we were seated in a crowded area, so tight that the waitress could not get around to one side to pour wine or water. The noise level had already forced two couples to leave, but we decided to stay. There was nothing "special" about the setting- no flower on the table, (it was Valentine's Day, after all), etc.
Then, came the menu. It was a limited menu, with a price adjusted for a three-course meal, ranging from $50-$57. A very short list of not-so-appetizing appetizers, followed by overpriced entrees- $50 for spaghetti squash! And then dessert. We had reservations for 7 PM, and they were already out of one of the desert choices.
Needless to say, we were disappointed, and would never recommend this restaurant for any special occasions. Best to come some mid-week evening.

Clarke's never fails to amaze. The food is always excellent (especially the lobster and prawn risotto!). This evening was pretty crowded because people were in to avoid the crowds from Valentines' Day (I prefer it more quiet). The service is usually excellent and was just good this evening. However, I'll happy return.

Service was very slow, not the servers fault as she had way to many tables. Finished salads and wine after an hour but could not get an order in for a second glass of wine and bread refill. The salad I ordered said arugula but it was spinach, and the Duck also said with arugula but also spinach. I think it was probably just an off night as they were very busy and will probably give another try. Staff was very nice just not enough help.

Clarke's is a lovely gem buried in the heart of Downtown Lake Oswego. Its recent remodel has updated the physical space and modernized the cuisine. It has a small and seasonally rotated menu of fresh fish, good quality beef, pork, and lamb, and a delicious all year favorite - prawn and lobster risotto. Good wine list and small cocktail bar. Recommended for locals, and those from nearby areas.
