Last minute reservation on a Sunday overnight at the hotel. Great, attentive service. Above average hotel food which hit the spot so we didn't have to leave the hotel and fair pricing.
Service was extremely slow, starting with drinks from the bar which was close by. And the restaurant was not that crowded. Then I ordered the Rib eye- the most expensive steak on the menu- and it was about as tough as shoe leather. And the vegetables that were served with it were luke warm at best. Now a good choice at all!
Best breakfast we’ve ever had. Each item was outstanding. Eggs Benedict. Blueberry-Granola Pancakes. Potatoes. Bacon. OJ. Everything!
Expense...but treat yourself sometime!
Thankful they were opened for Thanksgiving Dinner. Was buffet style and we were there later in the evening, 7:45p. Food was just ok but service was good from server as well as kitchen staff replenishing buffet.
Granted the evening we ate here there was the Billy Joel concert next door to the hotel, but the concert was planned for many months in advance so management should have prepared appropriately.
We made the reservation about 8 hours in advance, and were seated on time. That's where the pleasant experience ended. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to greet us, and another 15 minutes to get our drink order to the table, with water. So 30 minutes for our first sip of anything. We ordered the Tomato Bisque as an appetizer for each of us. When we received it, it was lukewarm, and with no waitress in sight, we couldn't send it back so we slugged it down. The bisque tasted exactly like marinara sauce by the way...not what you would expect.
After another 10 minutes, our waitress came by and took our food order. She was panting and in sheer panic mode, as from what I could tell...she had 10 or so tables she was waiting on....none of which had happy campers seated at them. I scanned the area and noticed everyone was perturbed in one way or another. One table of women was sat next to us...a party of 4. They were there for 30 minutes with not so much as a wave from anyone that worked there. No water, no drink order, etc. So they stood up and left.
Our food came 30 minutes after we ordered it. My dish, the seared tuna, contained about 4oz of fish making it an exceptionally bad value (close to $40). My wife had the chicken with cumin. The cumin was lathered on the top of the chicken in a paste, making it overpowering. Never saw that before! Her sweet potato smash was cold. Once again, no waitress or anyone to complain to.
I finally asked the food runner to get the manager for us. About 15 minutes later, I asked him again. He said 'I asked her twice!' and seemed miffed also. She walked by and I said 'Excuse me m'am??'...she pretended not to hear me and continued walking.

Came based on "Downtown Restaurant Week". I have never been here before. Enjoyed everything about it and would definitely recommend and plan to return.

Visited after a Saturday night Cardinals game. The restaurant was not prepared for a crowd after the game (mind you this was September - almost the end of the baseball season - you would think they would know the schedule). Finally got waited on as we were preparing to leave. Once we got our food, it was good.
Great location for breakfast in the hotel. Average buffet. The egg sandwich my partner had looked very good.

There were 6 in our party to grab drinks and appetizers/ dinner before the Paul mc Cartney concert. Service was great and food very good. Atmosphere was very nice. I have been here to have drinks after cardinals games, but this was my first experience dining. Will be coming back again!

Besides a romantic setting, my wife and I enjoyed an amazing meal perfectly prepared. But..and there's always a but....but the highlight was the waitstaff. From the busser to our chef, they made us feel welcomed. Our waitress was amazing! She took care and was print and courteous. All the while she smiles and made our night even better! Highly recommended!!!
I come to Chicago a few times a year. I try to always go to the Clark Street Grill. The food is always terrific, service is excellent, and prices seem reasonable considering your eating on Michigan Ave.
I had a coupon for this restaurant that was given to me by my handyman service. We have never dined here so I thought we would try it out. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night and we were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant (not a good sign). By the time we left, there were a couple of other tables. Overall the food and service were good, but really pricey. Probably won't return - there are too many other good options for less money in St. Louis.
This is to just let you know how awesome this restaurant really is as far as I am concern. My husband and myself checked into the hotel Westin for the weekend for our 10th anniversary. We really wanted to get a way but did not have the time at work so we took a weekend. Check-in was great but the room and house keeping service was not to its standards. Because of this I canceled two massages for the both of us was ready to check out. My husband wanted to at least try the dinner here. I wanted to go out to eat but a snow storm was here in Saint Louis, Mo. The moment we step into Clark Street Grill from the lighting, mood crowd was excellent. It really put me in a mood to try to enjoy our anniversary. We were seated by this server, which was awesome, I do not remember her name but her mother works in the morning and she works in the evening, they are both from Russia. I suggest you look for this young lady, She had taken great care of us from the time she introduce her self to us. She engaged in great conversation with us throughout the entire time we was there. I complained about the service how we needed a microwave and they brought up one broken, the large spot in our carpet, house keeping service. I was very disappointed and while I know this is not usual because I stayed here numerous of times. But she spoke with house keeping on duty to see what they can do. There was a complimentary of bottle of wine and chocolate cake with strawberry and raspberry cream written Happy Anniversary. This young lady was so outstanding and the Chef and his assistant to were it was well worth staying at Westin hotel even though I felt the service was not up to their standards. I take my hat off to Clark Street Grill and staff. Thank you it was a pleasure
My husband and I decided to try it out for an unexpected night without my daughter. I was surprised for a Friday night there was no one in the restaurant. I had made an unnecessary reservation. We started with Crab cakes and the apple and cranberry salad which we both delicious, the best items we had. I order the scallops and my husband ordered the beef tenderloin; both were over cooked. The scallops lacked the sear and had a rubbery texture from being on the heat too long. My husband ordered his steak medium and it came out almost well done. We didn't complain or send the food back. We were sitting right in from of the open kitchen end didn't want the glares of aggravated cooking staff. I ordered the mashed potatoes as a side and they were wonderful. My husband didn't eat his risotto, which was mediocre at best, but enjoyed 3/4 of the generous side of potatoes. Overall it was nice to be out but the food was nothing that I expected and we will not go again. Our waiter was very nice and attentive.
We celebrated our 16th anniversary at Clark Street Grill and it delivered. Great drinks, Ceasars salad, and steaks. Chefs even made up a batch of flash fried spinach off menu. The service was first class. Finally, they surprised us with a piece of decorated cheese cake that capped off a well balanced meal. Looking forward to our next dining experience at Clark Street Grill in the near future.
I went to Clark Street Grill on whim with my girlfriend. We looked at the menu online and she had a craving for scallops. So we booked a reservation and went. The restuarant is very nice and it was quiet. The server was very friendly and knowledgable, and the food was amazing. I'm not even a desert person, but it took was incredible. They how a lemon serbert that was made in house with my desert and it was to die for. I highly recommend Clark Street grill. In addition the drinks was strong but not overpowering, just the way I like it.
The service was good...nothing first rate, but completely acceptable. The lighting was too bright, but the temperature was nice. The food though...yikes! If this were my restaurant, I would be embarrassed by the food. The presentation lacked inspiration. The flavors were very simple and one dimensional. Most people can do better at home. The desserts were very good. I think this is a place one should visit out of convenience, but never for an exceptional culinary experience.
I've been to this restaurant twice (different years) during the downtown restaurant week. The food was great and service was fine. I like the menu options and that's why I chose it each time. There was no one up front to greet or seat me right away. However, his attitude was so great, it exuded customer service. I quickly realized they were short staffed, which was not his fault. Also, they had limited menus printed, which was annoying. They should have set the expectation by providing one or two per table instead of giving each person a menu, then asking if we were done before ordering. I still give it 4 stars for the food and service overall. Good attitudes go a long way with me.
We have been coming down to the Westin for over 6 years for Mothers Day and Fathers day brunch. It has been our favorite place to go for years. What had been a great small buffett is now less than ordinary. We are now looking for a new place to go for brunch.
You moved the buffett off the bar and into a litte corner (mistake). You have 1/2 the food choices, no pancakes and an upcharge for the omlets. The patatoes were dry and hard, the fresh fruit choices were no where near what they use to be. The french toast was dry, the pastries were terrible (and I mean terrible), the sausage was over cooked, no bacon and we had to wait 10 minutes for them to bring out fresh eggs.
Even my teenage kids commented on the changes.
We visited the restaurant on 12/23 at about 5:45 PM. After making a reservation on opentable for 6PM, we waited at the front desk for 10 minutes before being greeted by someone who told us the restaurant side was closed due to low hotel occupancy - but they'd be serving full dinner on the bar/lounge side. Fine, I can live with that.
Before being handed our menus, three other tables were waited on/brought drinks. Our drinks took 10 minutes to bring to us, and I had to ask for the server to come back to take our dinner order.
The shrimp ravioli was uninspired, tasted like quick-thawed shrimp had been tossed in with a can of chef boyardee. My wife's pasta dish with chicken and cream sauce was very tasty.
Server recommended having honey mustard with the sweet potatoes fries....LOVED IT!
We ate here during a recent trip because we were tired and didn't feel like going out. While this is not a five star restaurant, we didn't expect it to be, it was actually very good for a hotel restaurant. I had the scallops and while there were only 3 they were perfectly cooked, not overcooked. Sautéed spinach as side dish was also very good. The staff was very friendly and service was good.
They give you a lot of food, and it was very good.
Only one waitress for lunch in the entire restaurant was not a good idea - ESPECIALLY on a Cardinals ball game Sunday.
They had a great selection of food and the food was very good. Everyone in my party liked the food. The service was very good as well.
This is the fifth year our group of six has participated in Restaurant Week. Of the five restaurants, this was the least favorite! I personally waited 15 min longer for my entree than the rest of my group. Once I received my scallops, they were hacked up, the sauce was left off and the plate was not consistent with the same dish that someone in our party had! The server took the plate and I waited another 15 min for my dinner, I was offered a beer for this inconvenience. Excessive time between courses on a not so busy night and a 20 min wait to get our checks along with a forced gratuity that was not deserved!
We were there for the St Louis Restaurant Event (prix fixé for a three course meal). The salads were fantastic, the main course was delicious and the desserts may have added pounds, but were more than worth it. A very enjoyable meal.
Food was delish! Unfortunately, the food expediter had no idea what he was doing and gave 1 at our table someone else's food. So the others watched while that person ate. The management apologized and took 50% off our bill. I will definitely be back!
Expecting fresh, quality food and good service, we were very disappointed in our experience at Clark Street Grill. The arancini was sent back because it was frozen in the center (these aren't hard to make fresh!), the cheese plate had no bread/crackers/jams/etc... just cheese. One of the drinks from the bar tasted medicinal, and the rest of the food was just meh. The service was super slow (we were 2 of 7 total diners on a Friday night at 7pm!), and after sending two items back, we were gifted a dessert, but it was cloyingly sweet. I'd stay away from this one.
There is something for everyone. Across from Busch Stadium it's perfect for pre or post game.
We had our kids with us and they were very accommodating! We also ate breakfast here and it was also great!
The food was excellent and the serving staff was top notch. I had an issue with a coupon, but the hostess and house manager were able to resolve it quickly.
