Claire's at the Depot Ratings and Reviews
We are regular patrons at Claire's and the staff has never failed to impress us. On this particular occasion, though, my wife ordered the special garlic prime rib and this dish was not really up to Claire's standards. The maitre' de, though, made everything right which clearly exhibits the class of Claire's staff and how much they care for their customers. BTW - the filet mignon was absolutely PERFECT! And the She Crab soup was absolutely exceptional!
The bar was packed so could not have a pre-dinner drink but it looked good. Service was excellent, drinks were very good too. I had a Jack Daniels old fashion and my wife had a dirty kettle one martini both very good. We had calamari for an hors d’oeuvre which was not good. It seemed pre-cooked and nuked. My wife had salmon which she thought was excellent. I had veal scallopini over noodles with gravy and green beans. The taste was excellent but the veal was well done. I would have preferred medium. We had bread pudding for dessert which we would highly recommend.
I had never heard of Claire's before and was looking for a place for Christmas Eve brunch/lunch with my family and it popped up. The reviews looked positive so off we went. It's hidden back in Old Town Warrenton but was easy enough to find. The ambiance is great. Nice and cozy feeling while not being a small place. The staff was absolutely amazing. Very attentive without being overly so and extremely friendly. The food was better than average and just the right portion size. We will definitely be going back again.
The service was good, but the waitress kept coming back to the table to pick up items and then left the check and kept coming to check on that- I was with friends I hadn't seen in awhile, and we were not in a hurry. It became annoying, and felt like we were being rushed. It was the end of the evening, so the there were plenty of tables.
Second visit to Claire's for dinner. The food was perfect which for me means: fresh, not overly seasoned but delicately so, flavor and textures married perfectly. Wait staff efficient, natural, friendly, and present all items very well. Keep up the great work!
I requested a different table from the one that was first offered because of noise and traffic. That request was honored. The food was good, the bread is outstanding, but the Bloody Mary was pretty awful. We enjoyed our dinner although our server was less than attentive. It was difficult to get her attention and we had to ask for several items more than once. Not horrible, just not what I would normally expect at Claire's.
We had the prime rib and sea scallops. The prime rib was perfectly seasoned and the scallops came with cheese grits that tied the dish together. The restaurant was busy due to holiday parties but service was still great and it wasn't overly mousey. Definitely recommend and we will be going back.
Excellent as usual. When we lived in Fauquier County, we regularly dined at the Clair's. Now, when we return to the Warrenton area, we try to included an evening meal at Clair's...the best restaurant in town, hands down. For this reason, Clair's is busy on weekends, so making reservations as far in advance as possible is recommended.
A fabulous meet up with friends for a special lunch. Worth the drive to Warrenton. A lovely setting. Excellent service. The wine choices were a highlight. And the food outstanding. We enjoyed the famous she-crab soup, the quiche special, steak & frites and more.
