Claire's at the Depot Ratings and Reviews
Wanted to take my best friend to a different spot other than the typical Northern Virginia Restaurants. We made a great decision to try Claire's. Our food was delish, and the staff was lovely. They even brought out our desert with a candle to wish a happy birthday to my girlfriend.
My wife and I have been to Claire's Depot around a dozen times since we moved here from NY. The food is always delicious, the wait staff terrific and the setting warm and comfortable. We've brought guests visiting us from NY for dinner at Claire's and I urged my 18 year old son to take his girlfriend there. It was their first dinner to a restaurant of this caliber and it was a memorable one. They enjoyed the food and ambiance. A romantic night out. The bonus for them was a lovely adult couple, watching them dine, picked up their tab. That's the kind of clientele Claire's attracts.
It's become our special occasion restaurant these last few years. If your fortunate, the flour-less chocolate cake will be available. It's the perfect desert to share with the one you love.
I made a reservation on Open table and they stuck us up in the corner bar table where workers were relaxing after a long day at work not happy .Have dined there before and at 5:15 reservation you should be able to get a nice table in the dining room.Open table should tell you they are sticking you in the BAR AREA!!!!!I did not want a Happy Hour atmosphere.
An excellent lunch! A bit noisy but the restaurant was very crowded so to be expected with lots of chatter. We had crab soup, the curry, crab sandwich with a side salad (2 of us), and the sorbet, chocolate cake and berry cobbler for dessert. The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable about one of us needing a gluten-free meal. We will definitely return.
Sunday brunch. Food was very good and service very friendly. A must visit when in Warrenton, definitely the best spot for a good meal, good wine in an upscale casual setting. Also visit for dinner - always great, and the occasional drop in for a glass of wine at the bar. All around always a very nice experience.
My wife had a steak: it was tough, grislily, and had been salted way too much.
I had traditional eggs benedict: the eggs were overdone and the hollandaise was cold.
We had eaten here once before and had a fabulous meal. This time, not so much. Both times it has been for Sunday brunch—maybe a different chef, because they were definitely completely different meals.
Our dinner at Claires was in celebration of my wife's 79th (or 39th) birthday. The food a service were superior, just is our experience each time we visit. On this occasion, however, we were seated adjacent to the hallway to the restrooms and back entryway to the bar. Thus, the noise level was high than we would expect at a fine dining venue. Most bothersome to both of us was the extra cool temperature. My wife is readily bothered by an atmosphere that is too cold; whereas, I hardly ever find discomfort due to a cool atmosphere. My shoulders were chilled from the time I was seated until we departed. I realize that the wait staff appreciate the cool atmosphere because they are constantly on the move. Diners, however, are seated and not working up a sweat required to be cooled down. Hopefully, we can be seated near your fireplace on our next visit.
Claire's never disappoints. We love the ambiance but especially the food. The She-Crab soup is like no other I have ever had. We also shared the coconut shrimp, they were amazing and the sauce was delicious. I had the filet because I love their steak sauce, he had the scallop dish and said it was incredible.
We are regular patrons at Claire's and the staff has never failed to impress us. On this particular occasion, though, my wife ordered the special garlic prime rib and this dish was not really up to Claire's standards. The maitre' de, though, made everything right which clearly exhibits the class of Claire's staff and how much they care for their customers. BTW - the filet mignon was absolutely PERFECT! And the She Crab soup was absolutely exceptional!
The bar was packed so could not have a pre-dinner drink but it looked good. Service was excellent, drinks were very good too. I had a Jack Daniels old fashion and my wife had a dirty kettle one martini both very good. We had calamari for an hors d’oeuvre which was not good. It seemed pre-cooked and nuked. My wife had salmon which she thought was excellent. I had veal scallopini over noodles with gravy and green beans. The taste was excellent but the veal was well done. I would have preferred medium. We had bread pudding for dessert which we would highly recommend.
