Great food. Terrific service. Would strongly recommend for outside dining.
Excellent place for outside dining! Nice menu with many choices.
Too windy and freezing outside, you need to figure out how to make people comfortable. This is the second time we sat outside and froze
Liked eating in the screened dining area. Provided protection from the sun, great views of water and water activity. Delicious food!
Important to know that outdoor tables with umbrellas have high chairs and tables.
Service, food everything great. We’re planning on another visit!
It was OK. When I made the reservation over a week ahead of time , so plenty of notice. I told them it was our first time there and was looking forward to it. I understand it’s Covid times but I would say we had the worst table The very last one in the parking lot very close to the street cars very noisy no ambience at all. Most of the food was Cold. Chicken wings Cold French Fries soggy and Cold. Lobster roll bun cold and hard Paying top dollar should get Great food won’t go back.
Food was excellent as always. And great end of day view.
Delicious with great service. Can’t beat the view!
We had the pleasure of dinning with our family during a stormy night. Due to the health pressures of COVID, we only eat outdoors. The staff at CK made every effort to accommodate us in a torrential rain storm with great effort and humor. We lasted through the first course under two umbrellas and when the weather became overwhelming the staff found us a table in their porch area. We finished our delicious meal and even enjoyed a second cocktail.
This restaurant has good food with five star service!!!!
4 of us - everyone enjoyed the food - kids chicken fingers, "delicious" burger with bacon, fried clam plate, nice whole belly clams, lots of fries, good cole slaw, and the cubano type sandwich which my husband loved. The view is hard to beat. We sat on the outdoor deck under the umbrellas even though it was windy because we didn't want to be inside because of Covid. The waitress was fine but unenthusiastic. Definitely got the feeling she didn't want to be working. She left our table very quickly every time, making it hard to ask for things. I know its hard for servers to work during the pandemic but restaurants need to be making sure customers want to come back.
Inventive food and beautiful river marsh view if you arrive before sunset.
I reserved an outdoor table and after checking in, we were brought to a screened in porch. I indicated that I did not reserve the porch. They told me that it is not clear on open table when reserving outdoor dining that you may end up on the stuffy screened in porch. That was not my fault, I had no idea there was even a screened in porch. They would not move us outdoors and we were not very happy about that!
The food was a big disappointment. For an appetizer we had the fried clams which were very sandy. Two of us ordered the fried haddock sandwiches for our lunch which was nothing to rave about and a side kale caeser salad. The meal included an upcharge for the kale salad. The salad was chopped so fine you could hardly pick it up with your fork. Our companion ordered the lobster roll, it was the worst lobster roll I have ever seen. It was not on your typical hot dog roll and the lobster had no flavor. The accompanying french fries were horrible, they were room temperature and soggy! The lobster roll plate was so overpriced and not worth it.
There are so many places in Gloucester that have a much better lobster roll for a better value. I would not return for the food and their reservation process is ridiculous.
We had a great time at CK. We sat outside in the screened in area and the scenery was amazing.
The food and service was outstanding and would definitely go there again in the future.
We were promised a table outside when I called the restaurant to verify my reservation. We were told when we arrived we needed to be seated inside because my father was in a wheelchair and they said , rudely, they couldn’t fit a wheelchair outside (we looked , they could). Now stuck with nowhere else to go we begrudgingly entered. The restaurant was dirty , table sticky, used laminated menus vs disposable paper menus during COVID. Waitress was not friendly, food was average and the staff all looked unhappy. Never going back.
Food was great, location was terrific. Service was ok
Company from out of state! We had a wonderful time and meals
Rainy day, reservation on the deck got changed to the screened in porch...a little wet when the rain blew but the staff cleaned quickly. Fish and chips was good and the homemade dessert peach cobbler was very good. Nice way to pass a rain storm.
Awesome ambience on the deck. Service was steady but not pushy. Loved overlooking the river with all of the boats. The portions could be a little better. My tuna tacos were very small with no side and my date's clam plate was smaller than you would anticipate at a fish place. But we will defintely go again!
Great food! The oysters always fresh and the lobster cabonara is superb!
Drinks are creative!
Can’t beat the view!
Great food and very accommodating. They have a large area for outdoor seating overlooking the river.
Beautiful outdoor dining on the Essex River was a perfect place for a Sunday afternoon lunch
Stopped for brunch, arrived at 10:00am (just opened)...no other customers. Great view, beautiful day; I had cranberry mimosa and Wife had pomegranate mimosa...not really bubbly but, it tasted good. I had lobster Benedict and side of hash; wife had 2 eggs easy over; pork belly; toast and cheddar hash brown balls. My meal was very good. Wife’s, not so much. Eggs cooked medium to hard....not over easy; hash brown cheddar balls...bland. Toast and bacon very good. Would have loved another mimosa with the meal; but the waitress didn’t ask us until we had finished our meal...she never checked on us after the food was served until I finished. Must have been a new server....Yes, we’d go back again....but, not for brunch.
Terrific food with a great view of the Essex River and the Great Marsh. Probably the best clam chowder on Cape Ann, inventive, and tasty menu.
Rude and disorganized hostesses
they have certain special food items like the mussels in coconut broth that never fail!
I was quite excited for a fun girl’s evening out at C.K. Pearl which I had passed by on a previous Essex visit but wasn’t able to get in at that time.
The atmosphere and view lived up to expectations and the screened in porch with heat lamps was perfect for a cooler evening.
On the other hand, the food was a big disappointment. We each ordered the lobster roll plate and as someone from Maine who has eaten a lot of lobster rolls, I can confidently say that this was in the bottom ranking group. The lobster roll as we all know in New England was on a bun that was not the standard hot dog bun for New England. It was tepid in temperature at best. (Note: we had all ordered the hot lobster roll with butter). The meat itself had a taste and odor that indicated it was not fresh and it was certainly not hot! There was very little to no butter. The accompanying french fries were what you’d get from a fast food joint and the side salad was fine.
As it turns out, we stopped at a much less upscale spot outside of Gloucester on our way out of the general area and had a much better lobster roll and paid half of the cost. I would not return for the food here despite the waterfront view.
Friendly, efficient service and some of the best clam chowder and fried clams I have ever had. This was our first visit for a late lunch. We will be back soon!
Daughters birthday and she wanted to eat on the water. Beautiful location with thoughtfully prepared food served by a welcoming staff in the perfect setting. 4th time here. We will be back!
This restaurant has never failed to please!
We had a lovely evening looking out on the river and enjoying our meal!!
Excellent Sangria perfect for a summer day. Cocktail shrimp were very large and cooked just right. Fried clams melted in your mouth. Attentive servers. All overlooking a great view of birds and boats.
Had a great meal here. A thunderstorm kept us from dining outside which was disappointing given how scenic it is not plenty of windows. Inside was fine and lots of distance between tables. Service was great and they made accommodations for food allergies. We had a very nice meal here. Will return on a clear night to sit outside and enjoy the view.
Nice ambiance and good food.
Great food, service a bit off but a nice night as the patio is awesome!
The food was very good. The staff was outstanding. They even went to the effort to create an innovative ice pack for our leftovers because it was so hot outside.
Great outdoor setting. They were very accommodating and gave us very nice seats with a beautiful view.
Love this place. Oystaaaahs so fresh! Pork belly app special was off the hook delicious. Love watching the boats float by while we eat. Very relaxing. Wait staff very attentive.
Lovely location with great views, excellent menu, and wonderful service! Would definitely recommend.
Great food. Muscles were amazing. My smoky spicy margarita was excellent. I also had haddock tacos and key lime pie. Everything was superb!!
