Authentic and fabulous food.
The vegan options here are wonderful! It’s a great place for date night or a night out with friends.
Civico 1845 was an absolute stand out in San Diego restaurants. With both meat eaters and vegans catered for with full separate menus, this restaurant was a highlight to our trip to the area.
We love everything about Civico. Food, service, ambiance, price... We live most of the year in Lake Tahoe but eat at Civico every time we come home to SD.
What a wonderful menu. The pasta was melt in your mouth tender. Scallops were amazing. Even the Caesar salad with the shaved Parmesan was delicious. Tiramisu was maybe the best I have ever eaten, as was the cannoli. Well done! I will be back!
Civico 1845 is very good. We appreciate the vegan offerings and the bread/dip is fantastic. The tricolore salad was really good. The entrees were all good but nothing really stood out. Service was very uneven.
Went here for dinner for the first time and everything was wonderful! Our server was Marcello and he was very nice and helped us pick a bottle of wine that we all liked. All of the food was delicious, will definitely come back!
Seated quickly. Extremely nice service. Food was fabulous
Just an enjoyable meal and atmosphere. Could be one of the top 10 lasagna ever!
The ambiance of this restaurant is a mix of modern and rustic kitchen feel. I chose civico because they have a dedicated vegan menu which I really appreciate when going out to eat with friends and family. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to food allergies. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we had a lovely time!
Felt like a true Italian trattoria, delicious food, great wine selection, just right service for the type of lively place it is. Plus the location is great. Looking forward to going back!
Food was delicious. Service was great. A definite must.
Great for casual dining with really good food and service
Great staff! Authentic cuisine
Civicio 1845 is a must-visit location. The food is spot-on, with a well-paired wine selection. The Wait Staff is attentive, personable and assists in ensuring that your food selections meet your needs and expectations. Ciao.
Everything was wonderful but there was an acoustic guitarist in he courtyard who was too loud and made it difficult to hear and pulled away from our experience. Overall though, I will be back!!
Authentic cuisine. Molto bene!!!
Birthday Dinner. Great experience all the way around...Thanks !
We come here every time we travel from out of town-always very excited. On Thursday night we came out with some friends, celebrating a birthday and were unfortunately disappointed. To start off, we told our waitress that we love the fettuccini alfredo and she responded by telling us that the chef would not be very happy with us. A friend ordered the zucchini and was not what she expected, when she proceeded to tell our waitress, she was very short with us. Our pasta was very mediocre, not what we remember it being before :(
A friend recommended this restaurant highly. She was right on the mark! The food was great, and very authentic and homemade tasting. The service was great and the atmosphere was very unpretentious. We loved it, and would certainly return the next time we visit San Diego.
On the fence regarding Civico 1845. Two of the five of us were not impressed with the braised short ribs dishes. Brussels sprouts and calamari were great as was the service. Seems rather pricey for what you get.
Fantastic vegan menu available that even the car Javier’s enjoyed!
Too loud to talk & food was just OK. Would not recommend.
Best Vegan lasagna I’ve ever had!
Our overall dining experience at Civico was pretty good. I read multiple reviews that said this was the place to eat at when in Little Italy, so I got the whole family on board while on vacation and was excited to try it. The ambiance and decor were super chic but not all of the food lived up to the level of the decor. The wine was also wonderful but some of the pastas were dry and flavorless which was pretty disappointing. The PAPPARDELLE BRASATO was amazing but sadly that was not the pasta I had ordered. I got bites from the others at the table that ordered this pasta but I ordered a pasta that isn't on the online menu that had a "light cream sauce" which made the pasta dry and pretty flavorless. The homemade pasta beneath was good which made the pasta okay to eat, but some extra flavor and sauce would've made this dish much better. Overall, I may go back to try some other dishes but its never fun when you plan a meal for the whole family that leaves some feeling like they wished they had chosen a different location.
Great service, great food, great date spot.
Perfect afternoon with view of the Bay and ample people watching. Sit outside...and enjoy.
Great restaurant with amazing food. Understand it was an evening over a holiday weekend but felt as though the food was being rushed out too quickly for this type of restaurant.
Always genuine Italian cuisine and ambience. Great and friendly service.
Had a reservation but somehow the hostess was too busy to check us in or look it up. So another server came up and just sat us without using my open table reservation. Then after I left I received an email stating that my reservation was canceled. If the food had been fantastic I would have let it go but to drop almost $100 for subpar Italian was too much for me not to write my first criticism on open table. There are many better places to eat in Little Italy than to waste your time here. Seriously I could have done better with the leftovers in my fridge. Don’t even bother trying to make this right because I’m never going back to this restaurant again.
This place was amazing! Fantastic food and a vegan menu that was fabulous! So good we went two nights in a row on our recent trip to San Diego. Super quick and responsive. The "mushroom calamari" was probably better than most actual Calamari I've had.
I gave a moderate rating for noise. Hard to know because we were seated outside.
I had a better memory of this place. Quality went down, I feel.
One word Amazing!
We are longtime San Diego residents and know there are many very good Italian eateries in San Diego. This is nothing but a tourist restaurant. From the time we sat down the service was rushed. Our table of 4 ordered 2 appetizers. They arrived at least 10 minutes apart so that we did not get to share. The main course was delivered at the same time as the second appetizer. One order was wrong but we took it anyway. The homemade pasta in 3 of the dishes was clumped and stuck together. The food preparation, plate presentation and flavors were mediocre. The desert was not as described on the menu and was 3 different items that did not blend together. When we were seated I showed the server a gift certificate we would be using and she told me to just present it when paying the bill. I presented it with my credit card in the bill folder but she ignored it when totaling the check. We had to remind her event though the certificate was right in front of her. This is an overhyped restaurant.
Overall disappointing experience at Civico 1845. I did my research ahead of time and chose them because their menu listed gluten free pasta as an option. When I went to order, the server informed me that they boil the gluten free pasta in the same water as the regular pasta, so it’s not actually gluten free. I asked if they could please boil a fresh pot, and she said the kitchen was too small. So, I did not get the pasta that I had come there for, and instead ordered salmon. I found the salmon to be very greasy tasting. Overall, the food and experience were just okay. I would not return.
This is a great restaurant - options for meat eaters and vegan. A little loud but the service and food is wonderful - worth it!
Tutto molto buono per essere a San Diego, sembrava di essere quasi a casa!!!
Lo consiglio tantissimo
Went here for a birthday dinner, they did not disappoint. They were able to accommodate my vegan needs with a special vegan menu and my friends with plenty of authentic non vegan Italian dishes. They even surprised me with a special vegan desert. Wow!!
