Valentine’s Day. Food was really good. The atmosphere and table set up was not great. It was a little too bright, nothing interesting in decor, and some of the tables had table clothes and others didn’t. Also, on Valentine’s Day with a reservation for 2 people, they sat us at a slightly large table across from each other. Not a very intimate set up. There were smaller tables with cloths and candles all around the perimeter of the room, and then these clunky tables in the middle. Just sort of strange. Otherwise, food was really good, our server was nice and efficient , albeit talked a little too fast and too quiet. Overall it was a pretty good experience.
We enjoyed a nice Valentines Day dinner. Liked the guitarist in the bar before dinner!
We've never had a meal that failed to deliver here. Quality from starters to dessert.
We love CityGate Grille - now that our kids are older and pick their birthday dinner location - this is the spot - always delicious food and excellent service - as we were leaving the band was just getting started - so the vibe was picking up! My go to is either there duck (YUM!!) or their short ribs are always delicious - my 2 kids got the Lobster special and my wife had the branzino - all raved about their selections!
Loved this place! The staff were so accommodating and very attentive. The food was amazing. We both had the duck and it was cooked perfectly. Fair price for the quality and size of the meal. Will be back for sure!
Normally we love this place, but our last visit was a disappointment. Service was not up to par and we weren't really in love with the entertainment. The entertainment has a following we were told and so the restaurant was pretty busy. Maybe that is why our service was lacking? Not sure but we will stay away for a bit.
We love City Gate and we live in Warrenville so it's nice to have a really great restaurant a few minutes away. The food is fantastic and the music is always first rate.
Excellent food and service!
We went because of the Naperville Restaurant Week and we've wanted to try this restaurant. It is just about fussy, but not to fussy. Everything was very good. The noise level grew as the tables filled up. One way I can tell it is normal is how the server knew to lean in to hear us. And then a five piece band started up. It isn't a big room, but it got to the point we had to talk only between songs or a quiet one. I do hate loud restaurants. Would we go back? Not if you want to talk to your partner and especially if they have a five piece band.
I really love this place, excellent service, very nice ambiance and the food is consistently top notch. Highly recommend, also live music on weekends!
