Was in town just for a few days and had dinner. We ordered Korean Tacos and the burger. The food was all terrific and service was outstanding.
Nothing special. Food and drinks weren’t that great.
Came in at 6:15 and had movie tickets across the street at 7:45. Our apper
The food was great...as always! I even tried new items on the menu and they were all great. The service could’ve been better. We were disappointed to find out that happy hour specials on food were only at the bar. We decided to stay seated at our table but it would’ve been nice for the hostess at the front to let us know our seating options and the differences at the time. Our sever was okay. She took very long to come back to our table and towards the end we felt like she was over serving us and clearing our table even though it was hardly anyone else seated inside at the time.
The beer, wine and cocktail selection is varied enough to suit most taste. The food is good just small portions for the price.
Jackie D was the most amazing server I’ve had in months. Super personable!! Will come back again just for her!
Our party of seven included out of town visitors to Penn. Before dinner, our bartender helped with some out of the ordinary beer choices.
Very engaging waitress. The food in my opinion is above average bar fare. Extra compliments for my short rib fried rice. A little heat, with an egg on top.
Everyone in our group was happy with their selections.
Service is not great here. Food is pretty good, generous servings. The goat cheese and honey pizza is great.
Great place for drinks and after work happy hour.
Quick service great atmosphere
Seriously, try the brunch menu. Absolutely amazing. You cannot go wrong.
A great place that we originally picked out of convenience due to its location. Upon our arrival, we were very pleased with the atmosphere, the 60+ beers on tap and the elevated food selections. It's well beyond pub grub! Their pumpkin buratta app had amazing fall flavors. Since we tried their draft selection, we opted for a delicious Prosciutto & Fig Pizza and their City Tap Burger with an optional fried egg on top. It's a great place to go for the beer lover, sports fan, a large crowd or a couple looking for a casual atmosphere dining experience.
Overall not happy. Service was fine, but the food was not. Crab Cakes were extremely salty, husband and son had chicken which looked anemic. Other had mac n cheese which he enjoyed.
I come here all the time, but this was my first brunch. I have to say the food was absolutely outstanding. I got to eat and watch the Eagles game. Great time.
Great atmosphere, food, and service!
Loved the rooftop dining area!
Interesting menu options, and waitstaff was very familiar with dishes to assist us with choices.
They have absolutely no clue about gluten-free or any other sort of food intolerance or allergy. Horrible horrible experience. Was told I was being served a gluten-free salad turns out it was not. My next two weeks will be held thanks to this restaurant. The one manager was fantastic. It was a little late but I think because of him there may be some changes. The blonde haired manager not so much. Our waitress was inattentive we had to serve our own water and chase her down just to place an order. The place was not even that busy. But honestly the worst of it was that I was poisoned my foodie that we were paying for. Thankfully they took care of that.
Overall, I enjoyed City Tap House very much. The food as well as the service was very good. It has a nice ambiance for the outside seating and the fire pits only aid in this. The prices were a bit on the high side, but for how good the food was, this was not a problem. I would definitely go again as well as recommend to a friend for a casual night out.
The food was awful. I ordered a pizza that was so over cooked, it crumbled when you picked it up. My friends crab sandwich was a hot mess with lots of May and cheese. Would not go back
Outdoor seating is great. Came for an early brunch, and unfortunately didn't have two items on the menu that we wanted to order. Regardless, food was great and very flavorful. Service was OK - not many tables for an early brunch, but the food took some time to come out.
Chicken and waffles was great
We had a group of 5, and were seated promptly, though it was a table by the kitchen where it was rather warm. The restaurant was out of the daily special, which was disappointing as at least one person in our party wanted to order it. The fries that accompanied the burgers were a little soggy, but the burgers were very good. Our son really liked the maple glazed pork chop he ordered.
Absolutely will go again. Couldn't have asked for better.
Had a most enjoyable business lunch on the terrace of City Tap House. Friendly, well-informed server (Freddie?), comfortable seating and reasonably priced, very tasty food. We both had the City Tap burger - cooked as ordered with crisp fresh lettuce/tomato/red onion and excellent fries. Only thing missing was a cold beer but that was by choice. Next time!
Went for weekday lunch so not crowded. Food was good and optional outdoor terrace.
Located across from U Penn
We have enjoyed the City Tap House since 2013. Great place to take Penn students out for family meals. The food is super and the beer list divine.
Definitely gets loud on Friday/Saturday nights during the school year.
Check it out!
Why did they change their recipes? Last time we went there the "charred" Brussel sprouts were delicious. This time they served them to us burnt nuggets directly from the frier. Inedible. The server seemed overwhelmed and took them away without offering alternatives. Overall, everything was very oily.
Waited over 20 minutes to be greeted by a server and served water, and that was because we began to ask questions about the lack of service. We didn't receive actual food until close to an hour after being seated. Most of our food was overcooked and/or extremely salty barring the wings, which were actually good. By the time we received the wings (after sending back sugar entrers) we were genuinely surprised that they were tasty. The atmosphere was great and must be the selling point because the food and service definitely are not.
Truly inspired and well-crafted cocktails, especially the old-fashioned with the single large ice cube and the brut sangria with the berry-malbec syrup in the coupe. elegant perfection.
we also enjoyed the clams; the watermelon arugula salad, brussel sprouts, crab melt, delicious key-lime pie. lovely to sit outdoors on the deck.
This was not our first time here. We usually try to make it two or three times in the summer and once over Christmas break. We like to take advantage of the u city dining days. We ordered from the dining days menu. We had the brussel sprout and arancini apps, the crab melt and steak and egg fried rice entrees. We finished our meals with the key lime mousse and peanut butter cake. I was going to say that this was the best $25 meal I've had but to be honest this was the best all around meal we've had at any price in quite some time. Thanks City Tap, we'll be back hopefully sooner than later.
We loved the food, service and ambiance! Wish we could've had outside seating but it was raining...so definitely next time, weather permitting.
Great meal. Excellent service.
This is a restaurant we only go to when the weather is such that we can eat outside. (My ratings above are based on eating outside!) For us, inside is too dark and way too noisy. (It is a restaurant in the heart of a college age community, which is not our demographic.) But, when the weather is warm enough for outdoor dining - we love this place. It is up a couple floors from street level and there is a roof garden right next to the dining area. When we were last there, flowers were in bloom and there were lots of sparrows flitting about. Even on hot days, and it was in the 90's when we were there, there seems to be a breeze. The food is decent and the beer list extensive.
Food was overpriced. Drinks were expensive. Service was good and food was tasty though. I probably wouldn't go again. It was $15 for a pizza & 18$ for a mussels & fries dish.
We had the spinach and chopped bacon salads with ahi tuna and chicken add-ins. Both salads were fresh, very well-put together and ample for lunch. And, the draft beer collection is very good.
Great place for this type of eatery. Nice staff. Food yum.
Better muscles then you might expect. Food will not blow you away, but it is always very solid.
