City Taphouse is my "Go-to" when I want to have lunch or dinner with friends and not too much advance notice. It hasn't something to please everyone, great beers on tap! And can almost always find a seat or a table big enough. Food was excellent. Bravo! Thank you!!!

This was a good family dinner (parents and teen boys) on vacation in DC. Casual atmosphere fit for afterwork crowd as well as tourists. There were not too many entree choices but diverse and well-prepared and presented. It was busy but not crowded with attentive service. We especially enjoyed the steak frites. The pizza crust was a little undercooked for our tastes but otherwise delicious.

This was exactly what we were looking for on a Friday night for our usual wings beer and burgers. The burgers were cooked perfectly to our specifications. We had such a great time we returned on Sunday to share pizza and beer for lunch at the outside tables.

The mussels were fantastic and the beer was reasonably priced. I was disappointed in the lack of traditional bar items like Stoly or Sapphire. The crab-corn bites were well prepared, but the dipping sauce was uninspired. Service was OK, but she forgot 2 of the 3 orders for fries.....

Great neighborhood spot. Nice looking casual place for a great burger, wings, fries with truffle aioli, pulled pork nachos and HUGE crafts beers list.

This is another example of a DC restaurant that relies on location to get by. The food was not bad, but it was, at best, mediocre. And the decor was just wood...everywhere you looked. It basically looks like they rebuilt a barn. The food is very over-priced for what it offers - $16.00 for a basic cheeseburger and $4.00 to add 2 strips of bacon. Now I have had $20 burgers that I would order again in a heartbeat - this was nowhere close to making the list. Again, it was not bad, but you will get a far better burger at Shake Shack down the street for half the price. It definitely seems to cater more to the crowd that drinks beer - and likely those that drink a lot of it so that they don't realize the quality or price of the food. I had to actually maneuver around beer kegs to get to the restroom because they have so many that they apparently don't have storage for all of them and many are just left sitting about. Not being a beer drinker myself, I can't comment on the selection but judging by the number of kegs they had connected to their tap system behind the giant glass window, it seemed like they definitely had more than a few choices. So maybe this place would be better for a happy hour but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for anything else. But do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else first.

The only other thing I am compelled to mention is that I ordered unsweetened iced tea to drink and what I got literally tasted like cough syrup. The old-fashioned licorice tasting kind. I inquired if they add anything to it and was told they did not. How you can make plain, unsweetened iced tea taste so bad is almost astonishing. So if you do go here, order anything but to drink.

That said, the staff was pretty friendly and our water glasses were almost never empty. I wouldn't say it's $20 burger worthy service but it was good enough.

We stopped here for dinner as it was a short walk from our hotel (Marriott) near the convention center. Fantastic selection of craft beers. Dinner was very good although the salmon was a very small portion. But that saved room for some dessert!

Service was excellent with our waiter who gave us plenty of information about the various menu items.

The noise level was above normal but you would expect that from a popular place with a busy bar area.

Food has gone downhill from what it used to be - cheese sauce on nachos and pretzel was bland, sandwiches were not as high quality as they used to be, fries were overseasoned. On top of that, prices are higher than what I remembered. We used to enjoy this place as a quick, casual, inexpensive bar with good food, but it seems to have changed and not for the better since my last visit about a year ago.

Met a friend from CO here for happy hour and it was great. We got 2 flights of 4 samples each, and all the beers were good. They have an outstanding IPA list, as well as a good amount of other types. We ordered the brussels sprouts, per our server's recommendation, and they were outstanding! Also got the burrata and a pizza, which were also very good.

We sat on the patio and it's just enough off 9th St to not be sitting on the busy road, but still activity. And there are a lot of indoor options, too.

Will definitely go back to try more beers and other menu items.

The service was very friendly from Sabrina and the other wait staff. The food quality was exceptional, and the ambiance was fun, lively, and dynamic. A little loud at times, but no rugs or otherwise would dampening would permit more echoes than is comfortable to me.

The portions are large and the food does not disappoint. They have delicious mussels and sauces, including their house made steak sauce and truffle aioli for their fries. The best thing by far, though, is their extensive seasonal beer list.

may be a tap house, but I would not necessarily go back there for the food. Salads were mediocre at best (neither the chicken nor the dressing in the Chicken Caesar had any taste). Loud and it was not crowded.

My family and my brother, both in town on separate trips, were meeting for dinner. I was looking for a place that seemed kid-friendly, yet had a nice craft beer selection. Well, we found it! The food was very good, and there were multiple taps of just about any style beer you would be in the mood for. Throw in the convenience of being just a short walk from a Metro station, and you really have no reason not to try this place.

Server walked away while we were still talking to him. He also said they had a veggie burger though it wasn't on menu, but when we finally ordered he said he had to check. They gave me an extremely small pour of whiskey, which was overpriced. Also the beers are all listed as 14 oz pours, clearly an attempt to charge more for less (tho the glass I got didn't seem that small, admittedly). I don't think I'll go back again.

From the moment we walked in we had warm welcomes from the staff. As a group of 8 with 4 small toddlers, that's not always the case. They were very friendly and accommodating to our needs.
Our waitress was a little nervous (new maybe?) but seemed to be knowledgeable about the beer list.
Kids menu was great and they had their food out well before the adults (much appreciated!)
Everyone loved their meal- my husband had a burger and it was perfect, our friends had the mussels and Korean short rib tacos- both enjoyed their food, and my honey goat cheese pizza was so delicious. The only thing that needed improvement was the white sangria. The waitress told me this was new to the menu, but as I told her, did not taste much different than white wine. Adding a lemon and an orange to white wine does not a good sangria make.
Overall, we all enjoyed ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed our food.

We had dropped in night before to have a drink. Atmosphere was great with alot of talking and laughter amongst patrons. Checked out the menu and saw alot of interesting choices. When time to choose a place to eat dinner following night we picked Tap House and we were not disappointed. Food was fantastic and we had great time. Staff very friendly and accessible. Just happy and fun place. Next time in D.C. we will be comimg to Tap House again.

Great spot for brunch in a convenient location to shopping and public transportation. You'll never drink the same thing twice with so many options to choose from with friendly and knowledgeable staff ready at the helm to assist you with your order. If brunch suits you, please opt for the "Big Chick" or the "Tap Burger". But please don't sell yourself short without ordering the "Ten Spice" wings which pairs well with just about any beverage!

We went for Easter Sunday brunch. We didn't realize it was a buffet. The food was nothing special. Overall, it was very overpriced. The bacon was undercooked. The salmon was good but visually unappealing with a mushroom coating. The mimosas were served in a wine glass which wasn't very appealing.

We've been here several times before Caps games and a few times on casual dates. Its becoming one of of favorite places for these types of evenings. My wife likes it because the food is very good and I love it for the amazing beer selection. Their service is always good and they are especially attentive if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. If you are looking for a gastro pub with excellent food and an extensive beer selection, this is the place to eat!

The City Tap House had a relaxed feel which made it feel like I was in a comfortable dining room at a friend's home. On the other hand, the pizza and IPA selection left a lot to be desired; the waiter informed us that it was Beer Week, so they had a limited selection of IPAs which I found baffling. The Pizza came out ice cold in a puddle of grease, and I was unable to finish it and at no time did the waiter inquire as to why I had only eaten one slice as if he knew why.
