Kind of a tourist trap. We came after the lunch rush. The folks in the front, including our server, were already checking out. Decent menu and food but not great value for the $.
Fabulous food, friendly and quick service. Good beer and probably the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever had.
Great service. Very attentive.
Mike was fantastic!
I'm new to the DC Metro area and came into the city with my boyfriend for dinner on Saturday. City Tap House was definitely a great choice. The beer menu was extensive, the food was amazing and most notably the service was fantastic!
The food was okay. The beer list amazing. The server was a little surly. My wife asked if the bartender can make a cocktail. Instead of checking, he just said no.
I had the chicken and waffles and it was really good. The beer selections are a nice bonus. I would eat here again.
Excellent food and a great beer menu. Good location and in door ambient.
Dinner with my son before hockey game.
My husband and I made reservations to eat here after the Auto show. It took 10 min. to be greeted and another 10 to get our drinks and yet another 10 for him to come back and bring our check. We had planned to eat, but the service was so slow and not personable we made reservations elsewhere to eat.
Carolina was a fabulous server and Pearson, as always a wonderful host
Try the Korean tacos app!
Recommended to us as a casual eatery, and it was close to the hotel. Food was just ok -- miso glazed salmon was good, could have had more vegetables with it. For a "tap house," the beer selection was wide, but not interesting. I asked about local beers in a white/IPA that wasn't too high in alcohol, and the waitress recommended something from Pa. Well, I guess DC/Va isn't known for its microbrews. It was an ok place to go, nothing special.
The beer selection was fantastic. Food was just as good. Their short rib tacos were exceptional. Their beer guru was super nice and friendly. Had a nice conversation with him regarding different beers. Overall great experience. Definitely recommend.
Good burgers, salads, and appetizers. Service was good too. Good wine choices.
Came here with some friends, one of whom wanted a place that was "Casual". We came here and weren't disappointed. Had a decent meal, good beer, great service. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are looking for the same.
We went because the Washingtonian Magazine included them in a post about brunches with fireplaces. Sadly, the fireplace wasn't on when we were there. The server didn't really read the table well, sorta of rushes us throughthe meal, when we were trying to chat and catch up. Food was great, menu was interesting, would definitely go back.
I had a great new years eve! Thank you!
Dinner was great - service was awesome!
We had burgers and beer and they were very good, as was the service. The problem - most of the dining tables are within 30 feet of the bar (ours was about 5 feet from the happy hour crowd). At 6p on a Thursday night, the noise level was deafening. We couldn't really have a conversation, and even ordering over the noise of the happy hour crowd was a challenge.
Return visit because when invited to meet a friend there weeks ago, I questioned the idea of good food at a place called a Tap House. But in this second lunch, good salad options and very good service. And for the second time, the greeters seemed a bit too distracted.
This place looks like an ordinary pub food joint on the surface, but the food is a step above. Hearty sandwiches, good fresh salads (if overdressed - next time I'll get dressing on the side). And do not miss the divine crab mac & cheese! Plenty to share, or make it your entrée. Best mac & cheese I've had anywhere, ever.
While our server was busy with a large group, he always made sure we were also well taken care of, so the service gets a top rating for that. The food was innovative without being too adventitious. We split the bruschetta, heirloom carrots and the prosciutto and fig pizza. Everything tasted fresh and wonderful. The selection of 40 tap beers was excellent and there was something for every palate. My dining partner found the Elouan Pinot Noir an excellent complement to her dinner as well so you are not limited to just beer.
Service was awesome!!! My boyfriend loves all types of beers. He was definitely in heaven. So if you love great food, service, and beers of all sort go IMMEDIATELY lol
The service was really bad. Server rarely came and acted as if he was doing us a favor. Then passed us off without telling who new server was and so no attention from new server either. But-- if they could get that fixed it was a great drink/beer spot and good food.
Great place. Enjoyed the meal and had great service.
Everything was fine except for the main courses, which were overpriced, overcooked, and way too salty.
I did not believe the food met the standard for the price we paid. I was also not happy that the server and kitchen refused to make accommodations for a gluten allergy for the Thanksgiving special. The server did not seem knowledgeable of our needs.
I asked for a half sweet iced tea, and was told that the only iced tea was unsweet. Later, I heard our server offer several iced tea flavors to an adjacent table.
I felt as if our server could have been more attentive.
I believe there are better restaurants in DC (and in Penn Quarter) at this price point. We may have considered returning if the prices matched the quality of the product.
If your staff were more accommodating to people with celiac issues, we would certainly consider returning.
Everything was great! Lots of beer & cocktail options & great food to accompany it. It was our first time visiting but we will be back!
Great beer selection, good service! I would go back!
