Service was ridiculously slow & unfriendly.
Lisa and Ron were so lovely and accommodating. It was a great lunch with good friends and I’m so glad we picked city tap house!
We had a good time. We were able to be seated away from others but toward the end, more people were sat in our section. Not too close though which is good.
The food and service were excellent- great portion sizes and our server constantly checked back. I spilled my water and she quickly cleaned it up. We also got extra bread for our mussels. We enjoyed our drinks- highly recommend the ginger basil margarita :)
The menu seemed a bit limited but I’m not sure if that’s due to the pandemic.
I’ll definitely be back though!
I had lunch Sunday (27 September 2020) at City Tap House with a friend. It was great -- the restaurant wasn't crowded and they did a great job with social distancing. Our server was amazing--very attentive and helpful. Best service I've had in a restaurant since COVID-19 began. The food was also excellent. I ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer, which was delicious. I really liked the pomegranates in it--that was a unique touch. I ordered one of the pizzas and a brown ale, both of which were great as well.
The food was great and it was reasonably priced for the quality and taste. Service was great as well and we had a big party -4 adults, 3 children. Also great for kids and they even had kids menus. Would definitely go back.
Never go here with large groups. Service is slow and you will get charged for bottomless and not even get the benefit of the purpose of doing it because of the service. Over 5 people in our group had bottomless and we only had three refills over the course of a 2 hour time to the table. Even when you bring it to the attention of staff, you are told they ran out and there's nothing that can be done and time is out with no warnings of time limits or when it is approaching. In addition, I waited over 15 minutes from the time of getting food to get any condiments asked for initially for the food. Not a great experience at all and will not be returning although I'm an avid person who loves exploring various restaurants for brunch.
Elevated pub food in a very good location with good atmosphere. The service was great. I have the thai curry mussels and they were very good.
This place is decent. From the menu to the ambiance it very much resembles a brewhouse feel but with moderate to high-moderate restaurant prices for comfort food. I ordered the Shrimp, Grits & Eggs and Chicken & Waffles. The chicken and waffles lacked standard flavor which can be masked by the side sauces. The shrimp & grits were good. Both dishes were around $20. That seems to be the going rate for similar dishes around the city but I’m not sure this place stands out. But I think they’re on-point with their brew selection. Please understand this place probably serves great drinks and the food is their secondary act. Overall a good restaurant which I will try again with friends or a business outing.
Comfortable with good food. Nice service.
Good food, drinks and service. A little loud but it was pretty busy. Food came out quickly though, so the kitchen is well managed. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.
Great lunch and good service
Great Tap House!! Every year when we visit DC for work we always stop in. Good food and service!
A great place to get a beer and a burger. The service was good, felt a little rushed to order food.
Enjoyable but a little loud. Some meals were pricey too.
You should offer food for happy hour
We came to City Tap House on Presidents’ Day, so it was definitely busy. We were drawn to this venue because of the advertised $10 bottomless mimosa brunch (which did not disappoint). However, our reservation was at 1:15 and we didn’t see or speak to a server until about 1:30/1:35. We were also seated by the kitchen which is definitely not the most desirable location in a restaurant. Our server was great despite the wait and our location. She recommended the Brussels sprouts which were very good! I ordered the Salmon Cake Benedict, my friend had the Big Chick and Hummus appetizer. We found the food to be very under seasoned. We used more salt and pepper that day than we would have desired or normally would use at a restaurant. The overall experience was fair. I’d go back for the Brussels sprouts and mimosas, but other than that, it wasn’t a big hit.
$10 bottomless mimosas is what got me in the door. The restaurant was very crowed and noisy but we didn't mind. The food was okay. It wasn't great and it wasn't bad. Our service was also okay. He started off great but than kind of forgot about us when the restaurant got busier. I would go again for the $10 bottomless but won't be rushing back.
The food was good. The bartenders were great but the hostess and our waiter were not good at all. I saw other waitstaff that seemed good. The hostess seemed annoyed to be there. I will say the food was delicious!! And they had great drinks on tap.
The service was slow and the food was just OK. We loved the atmosphere and the noise level was perfect.
Our Valentines reservation was at 5:30. We ordered drinks straight away and they never came until our meal was almost done! The mussels were overcooked, but the fries were good. The ravioli was a strange flavor combo. Our server had to be sent home due to illness. We were compensated for the drinks, but the experience overall was not great.
A great place for a pint and craic with friends! Nice selection of tap handles. I especially appreciated the Brew Dog -- last time I had that, I was in Edinburgh at the Brew Dogs pub there.
The fish and chips were not good. Breading was heavy, greasy, and soggy. Chips were just ok. Service was friendly and attentive, and the space was very nice.
The beginning of the visit was great, but once we ordered drinks and food, it started going downhill. Our appetizer came out before our beer and cocktail. After we got our food, it seemed like our waitress just disappeared. She never checked on us to see how we were doing or anything. She came back to the table when we were done eating and clear the table of everything, but our water glasses, then she disappeared again. After about 25 minutes of waiting for her to come back, my wife got up and went to someone, who looked like a manager and asked for our check. When she did that, she noticed that our waitress was hiding in corner of the restaurant eating. Once we got our check all the other tables she was working and who were waiting for their checks also requested there checks because she had reappeared. I don’t think the customer should have to get up to request the check.
The waitress also never asked if we wanted dessert or another drink. Probably won’t return to this restaurant.
Good food good beer
Great spot before a game at the COA. It does get a little loud but we were near the bar.
Everything was really good but our server didn’t really understand the menu and couldn’t give accurate information on certain meals in regards to allergens, preference for meatless meals, etc.. it seems like she just eliminated most of the menu without giving many options . We found d out afterwards that there were other options we could have had
Excellent food. A strong selection of beers and create your own flight option.
Great service, convenient location and nice selection of beers.
Lunch was excellent! Food served hot and fresh!
The mussels were plump and delicious. The fries were super. My husband really enjoyed the meatloaf which doesn’t seem to be on many menus. He especially liked the sauce
Had a party of 8 with a reservation. We were seated quickly, had fantastic service, and the food came remarkably quickly for a larger party. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the beer.
I had 7 girl friends visit from out of town. Booked a reservation at City Tap House for a Sunday brunch. Everyone said their dishes were delicious! We also loved that they sat us at a round table so we were all able to see each other and chat which we really appreciated.
I have no complaints with the food. I have been several times. It is usually a good place to hit up before the arena. The bar area gets a little crowded and loud, but its the bar.
They did cancel my last reservation with them. They called me the day of, about 5 hours before hand, and said the restaurant was closed. It's unfortunate but at least they called.
I will likely go back
The waiter seemed rushed or maybe he really wasn't wanting to work that night I am not sure. The hostess was wonderful! I had a surprise dinner for my husband since it was his birthday and she was great!
Great wait staff, super friendly manager. The food was amazing. We shared three different plates and each one was impressive.
Great location, Isaiah was a wonderful, attentive server, food was delicious!!
We were not aware there was trivia and the staff did not offer for us to sit elsewhere and the announcer and music were very loud. The server could have been more attentive.
Fun and great with groups!
Solid local beer selection. I liked my burger. Would go back for beer and burger.
Met friends after a CAPS game. Fun had by all.
