First time returning after service and food issues some four years ago. No real improvement. Brunch included the following: not fully cooked frittata; “two eggs” entree…four bites and eggs all gone; biscuits freezer burn taste and hard post microwave. Servers try and assume okay for a beer at game time but continues to disappoint as a restaurant.
The food is so good be been twice this week
Good Bar Food
This is a convenient location when near CityCenter, The White House, Capital One Arena. Plenty of options for food and beverages and upbeat music. Can get crowded during happy hours (Renaissance Hotel is next door).
Wasn’t a huge fan of the food, but our server was very understanding of that and allowed us to order something new. She was nice and friendly, but service was slow despite the restaurant not being super busy. Wouldn’t go back, but it was worth the try.
Delicious black bean burger and a tasty Fall Pumking beer. Parking garage right around the corner. Cool vibe, will definitely be back.
Amazing drag brunch!!!! I took my mom and teenage brother with me, and we were all dancing and laughing and enjoying ourselves💕
This place was amazing. We sat outside and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better. Beautiful evening with incredible delicious food. We had the Shrimp and Grits and the Meatloaf. Both were amazing all the way down to the presentation of the meal.
A couple of misses by the server, who described himself at the end as covering outside and inside- seemingly overwhelmed. $95 lunch for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids- but would not return, nor recommend and here’s why:
Chopped tap cobb salad (with shrimp) was literally shredded iceberg, feta instead of described blue cheese, and overly salty greek style olives. Asked for ranch vs the recommended white balsamic vinaigrette- it never came despite the reminder.
Four kids meals ordered, each supposed to be accompanied with a kids drink, only got 2 of 4. Wish the kids did share, but we’ve taught them drinks shouldn’t be shared so .... server forgot those too, even when reminded.
Margarita pizza was best choice and was perfect. Good flavor, and quality of ingredients.
Sprite machine seemed to have run out of syrup, but our drinks were corrected as soon as we mentioned it.
App of Nashville cauliflower initially came out as cold- as if it was in the fridge. Weird. Was too saturated in hot sauce and oily bc of a thick batter. Would not recommend this dish.
Young server, apologetic but that doesn’t fix the food. We felt bad, he kept forgetting things even when reminded gently.
There was a good amount of patrons - don’t know why our experience was crappy.
While the food was good, the service unfortunately was not. We were not seen for 40 minutes after being seated, and we did not get our food for about 2 hours. Additionally, we never received our appetizer and were sent the wrong drinks multiple times. The waitresses were completely pleasant but the manager never came to our table until we repeatedly asked to speak to him. He also did not ever apologize.
Service and food were excellent! Our server made great recommendations and we really enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere.
Nice ambiance, great beer list, good spin on typical pub fare!
The food was great but our server was just amazing and patience with us all the time. She made our experience even better. We had a friend visiting from Peru and we were happy we selected this place.
Really disappointing meal. Mediocre food. Good beers.
My burger was good however, my appetizer wings weren’t flavored how I remember. That was disappointing.
Great food and fantastic atmosphere. We got a waitress in training that forgot about us for a while. I had to refill my water from the jugs sitting on a tray, other than this we are very happy and will return next time in DC.
We didn’t go because it didn’t seem to be open. When I went to get directions on my phone it said it was closed and I called and no one answered and their voice message was full.
Good vibe and layout inside. Food and service were both good. Only ‘complaint’ is that the outside space could use some attention to make it a little more inviting.
Service was ridiculously slow & unfriendly.
Lisa and Ron were so lovely and accommodating. It was a great lunch with good friends and I’m so glad we picked city tap house!
We had a good time. We were able to be seated away from others but toward the end, more people were sat in our section. Not too close though which is good.
The food and service were excellent- great portion sizes and our server constantly checked back. I spilled my water and she quickly cleaned it up. We also got extra bread for our mussels. We enjoyed our drinks- highly recommend the ginger basil margarita :)
The menu seemed a bit limited but I’m not sure if that’s due to the pandemic.
I’ll definitely be back though!
I had lunch Sunday (27 September 2020) at City Tap House with a friend. It was great -- the restaurant wasn't crowded and they did a great job with social distancing. Our server was amazing--very attentive and helpful. Best service I've had in a restaurant since COVID-19 began. The food was also excellent. I ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer, which was delicious. I really liked the pomegranates in it--that was a unique touch. I ordered one of the pizzas and a brown ale, both of which were great as well.
The food was great and it was reasonably priced for the quality and taste. Service was great as well and we had a big party -4 adults, 3 children. Also great for kids and they even had kids menus. Would definitely go back.
Never go here with large groups. Service is slow and you will get charged for bottomless and not even get the benefit of the purpose of doing it because of the service. Over 5 people in our group had bottomless and we only had three refills over the course of a 2 hour time to the table. Even when you bring it to the attention of staff, you are told they ran out and there's nothing that can be done and time is out with no warnings of time limits or when it is approaching. In addition, I waited over 15 minutes from the time of getting food to get any condiments asked for initially for the food. Not a great experience at all and will not be returning although I'm an avid person who loves exploring various restaurants for brunch.
Elevated pub food in a very good location with good atmosphere. The service was great. I have the thai curry mussels and they were very good.
This place is decent. From the menu to the ambiance it very much resembles a brewhouse feel but with moderate to high-moderate restaurant prices for comfort food. I ordered the Shrimp, Grits & Eggs and Chicken & Waffles. The chicken and waffles lacked standard flavor which can be masked by the side sauces. The shrimp & grits were good. Both dishes were around $20. That seems to be the going rate for similar dishes around the city but I’m not sure this place stands out. But I think they’re on-point with their brew selection. Please understand this place probably serves great drinks and the food is their secondary act. Overall a good restaurant which I will try again with friends or a business outing.
Comfortable with good food. Nice service.
Good food, drinks and service. A little loud but it was pretty busy. Food came out quickly though, so the kitchen is well managed. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.
Great lunch and good service
Great Tap House!! Every year when we visit DC for work we always stop in. Good food and service!
A great place to get a beer and a burger. The service was good, felt a little rushed to order food.
Enjoyable but a little loud. Some meals were pricey too.
You should offer food for happy hour
We came to City Tap House on Presidents’ Day, so it was definitely busy. We were drawn to this venue because of the advertised $10 bottomless mimosa brunch (which did not disappoint). However, our reservation was at 1:15 and we didn’t see or speak to a server until about 1:30/1:35. We were also seated by the kitchen which is definitely not the most desirable location in a restaurant. Our server was great despite the wait and our location. She recommended the Brussels sprouts which were very good! I ordered the Salmon Cake Benedict, my friend had the Big Chick and Hummus appetizer. We found the food to be very under seasoned. We used more salt and pepper that day than we would have desired or normally would use at a restaurant. The overall experience was fair. I’d go back for the Brussels sprouts and mimosas, but other than that, it wasn’t a big hit.
$10 bottomless mimosas is what got me in the door. The restaurant was very crowed and noisy but we didn't mind. The food was okay. It wasn't great and it wasn't bad. Our service was also okay. He started off great but than kind of forgot about us when the restaurant got busier. I would go again for the $10 bottomless but won't be rushing back.
The food was good. The bartenders were great but the hostess and our waiter were not good at all. I saw other waitstaff that seemed good. The hostess seemed annoyed to be there. I will say the food was delicious!! And they had great drinks on tap.
The service was slow and the food was just OK. We loved the atmosphere and the noise level was perfect.
Our Valentines reservation was at 5:30. We ordered drinks straight away and they never came until our meal was almost done! The mussels were overcooked, but the fries were good. The ravioli was a strange flavor combo. Our server had to be sent home due to illness. We were compensated for the drinks, but the experience overall was not great.
