Today was my girlfriends birthday. She wanted to do brunch some place different with nice ambience. City Perch Kitchen definitely delivered with its farm to table food options and patio seating. Bravo!
The restaurant was nice enough and the food was ok but a little pricey for what you get. The service in the beginning was slow but got better as our meal progressed. Overall it’s a nice place just a little pricey for what you get.
Convenient to the IPIC movie theatre.
Poor service - waited 15 minutes after being seated to order drinks.
Ordered appetisers which never came.
Food was room temperature.
Vastly overpriced for the quality of the food and the fact that it's a buffet.
Stick to the regular brunch weekends and avoid the buffet. Today’s visit fell short.
Overpriced for the quality.
Service was horrible. Cold coffee. They seem to not be in tune with one another.
Had dined at city perch a month ago for dinner and enjoyed it. Went back for mother's day and was underwhelmed. It was $48 per person for brunch buffet but the food options were not worth the cost. The food was barely warm. I would say there food is better when you order from the menu. Don't waste your time if they have a buffet style menu.
We sat for 25minutes before I got up to see a manager to have someone come greet us and get water. The service is horrendous. It’s a shame because the food is very delicious.
Very pleased with brunch! Would definitely recommend the City Perch
It’s always great coming to City Perch! The ambience, the food, the live band, the service is always great! I brought a friend for the first time with me for dinner and all he’s talking about is “ when can we go back!” Truly amazing
Not so cheap but worth.
Especially “Braised Short rib” is amazing.Try it!
Parking is are free for two hour and locate with same building.
So if it were rain, Don’t worry.
Great overall experience, hostess and waiter were excellent! Food was delicious! Great drinks.
The food had no seasoning, I’m sorry. I got the short rib and poached egg. The egg was over cooked and the short ribs had was bland. My boyfriend got the hanger steak and eggs and it was okay. Overall the dishes needed more seasoning. The drinks were good though so I would say for happy hour. I just had the brunch menu, I cannot speak for the lunch or dinner section.
This restaurant is fairly new and the few times I’ve been here I’ve been happy with the cleanliness, service, food and drinks. However, for my daughter’s special occasion it wasn’t good: the server kept on disappearing, the roasted chicken didn’t have any taste and my favorite appetizer the Brussel sprouts are no more.
Let’s talk about the overall dirt and smelly walk from the garbage to the entrance...of the restaurant. The floors and missing tiles and are dirty, the elevators are disgusting, the waiting area for an elevator is smelly, the mirrors are dirty and grimy.
The bathroom and foyer to the theater are disgusting with stained floors, chairs and tables. This place needs deep cleaning if the owners care to attract people.
My husband was so upset with the quality of food, service and high prices.
That he mentioned the roasted chicken at Safeway is 100% more tasty than the half of chicken City Perch.
Please don’t waste your money. Get a better cleaning crew and up the quality of food.
The food at City Perch is always good and usually creatively plated and served. The one drawback is that their menu often doesn’t describe exactly what you’re getting. I ordered the all day egg sandwich, which was described as having egg, American cheese and bacon. I confirmed that it was regular bacon when I ordered (thinking they might be crafty and serve Canadian bacon) but when it came, the sandwich had cheddar cheese (not American) and thick cut ham. There was a side of bacon on the plate. I asked the server about it and he said, “oh, yeah, they always put ham on the sandwich and give a side of bacon with this dish instead of potatoes. Very different from what the menu said - I would have preferred the menu description (and the side of potatoes instead of two kinds of meat). I pulled the ham off, since I don’t like it, but was disappointed that the menu didn’t actually reflect the item.
My wife and I get the occasional date night away from the kids, and this was one of those nights. We look forward to dining someplace new, and settled on this establishment. Looking at the menu and the photos of the food, we were excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food did not match the warm spirit of our waitress. She was kind, delightful and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was bland and flavorless; we do not recommend the short rib. For what we paid, our preference would be any number of other area restaurants.
Great for a dinner date or a meet up with friends. Service was top tier.
First time here and it’s a great surprise! The ambiance is something I wish we had more of in northern VA. Service was fine but nothing spectacular or memorable.
Nice atmosphere, and good food! I've been there twice and had the branzino and the salmon. The whiskey sour is also delicious. Will definitely go back.
Date night with the spouses was perfect at the Perch Kitchen.
My husband insisted on taking me out for my birthday even though it was a Wednesday and I had to take my son to the orthopedist early the next morning. I picked City Perch based on their dessert menu. Bonus: they were advertising a midweek special of a free appetizer or cookies to take home. I actually received an email as well since I am a paying IPic Gold member. We made later reservations because my husband works in Reston, and often returns around 8:00-8:30. We specified Birthday Celebration on the reservation and it is likely on my membership card as well. My husband also made it very clear to the hostess (who rudely looked at her watch when we walked in at our reservation time), as well as the server. Long story short: The server took our order, then goes MIA. The food gets dropped off and crickets... Eventually, bright lights turn on midway through our dinner (think what happens in a bar or club after “Last Call”), still no sign of life. Finally after about an hour and a half of obvious searching for someone to assist us or maybe to file a Missing Person Report with, someone finally notices us. We ask about our server. After another 20 minutes or so, she finally shows up and plops the check on the table. My husband asks if we can see the dessert menu. She says “all the chefs are gone, the kitchen closed a long time ago.” Seriously, she couldn’t take a minute out of whatever she was doing to check up on us or to let us know that the kitchen was closing shortly and to ask if we would like anything else beforehand? And you really couldn’t wait until we were finished or at least warn us before turning the blaring lights on? Then to say in a somewhat sarcastic tone as we’re walking out after paying the check with nothing to show for the effort: “happy birthday by the way..” No dessert, no free appetizer or cookies as the promotion stated and it isn’t as if we didn’t order any as we ordered at least two... So, worst birthday ever compliments of City Perch...
Server was in the weeds. Service was slow. Food mediocre. Dirty dishes on table until we left. No dessert or coffee offered. Overall a waste of time and money.
Great buffet for easter, nice location and excellent food. Perfect for a date.
We went back to City Perch for Easter because we had such a marvelous time last year. Huge change. The food was not kept warm - the hollandaise sauce had congealed for instance. The pastries and baked goods were not of the same quality. We ordered two omelets between three people - neither was ever brought. The hot carved ham was cold. But the service was terrible - we twice had to ask our waiter to remove plates from the table. And you know its bad when the dressed up "Easter Bunny" goes off by himself to talk in his cell phone underneath his bunny mask. The promised ice cream you had to order never appeared. A very disappointing brunch.
I was really disappointed in the Easter buffet brunch at City Perch. For $48 pp I expected really good, hot food. Golden Corral does a better job than City Perch. The food was never hot or fresh (waffles crumbled like a cookie). Advertised items like stuffed french toast were left off the buffet ( I was told the ingredients were all there--it was just deconstructed..clever!) the smoked ham was dried out and the seafood bland. I expected so much better. No plans on returning.
The food was good, but it would have been great if it was served hot. I was so looking forward to the eggs Benedict, but the were cold along with the waffles and all the other "hot' food in the buffet.
The food and service was exceptional. The drinks were interesting and very good. We would have enjoyed sitting outside, but discovered upon arrival that the outdoor seating could not be reserved. This was a little disappointing, however, we will plan on arriving earlier in the future, if the weather is perfect, and we want to sit outside.
Came here for my birthday. Didn’t want anything too stuffy but didn’t want to go anywhere tooo casual either. This place fit the bill! Prices weren’t terrible for the amount of food you get and since I’m a gold member i got 10% off my order. Food was good. The Syracuse salt potatoes should probably be called salt potatoes. As an actual born and raised native of Syracuse NY, the taste was nothing like growing up. They were good, please don’t get me wrong but the flavor was not there.
Overall, service was great, ambiance was great and the food was good.
The food and service were very good. The noise level with the live jazz band and the number of people in the restaurant made it harder for one member of our party to hear. But once the crowd thinned we were better able to carry on our conversation.
Excellent service, helpful and happy personnel. Good location, very nice for a casual midday lunch.
Great atmosphere, good service and nice options to choose from.
Perfect place to enjoy a beautiful spring day. The food and service was fantastic.
Busy Saturday night so the noise is understandable. Our server was a nice girl but was so inexperienced she was mispronouncing specials including the words "salmon" and "poke" - could tell she was just not experienced.
The value here is simply not that great. Also not a fan of a place where you are paying for $25+ entrees but share a bathroom with a movie theater? I understand they are connected, but this is pretty strange.
Not worth it
Food and service were impeccable.
The place was great! Good ambiance! Very nice attendants. Although Menu selections were very limited.
Dinner before a movie - great. The wings are really good - we eat them with no sauce( naked). I had the Cobb salad with salmon as my protein. The yellow beets are yummy.
Wonderful ambiance, food, and customer service. Has a great time!
The crispy brussel sprouts appetizer was excellent, but the main courses were mediocre. The restaurant was not crowded at all, but service was very slow.
The ambiance is nice but the menu is limited and the taste is mediocre. It was much better when they first opened. I went with a table of four. We got 3 appetizers and 4 entrees. Only one of us liked the food.
The food was fabulous. the maple spiced bacon just made the day. We all enjoyed our brunch on Sunday, March 31st. We were there between 11:30 and 1:00.
Our server was not what I usually expect from your restaurant. He sort of mumbled and was extremely slow . We actually got better service from some other person who may have been a manager. But, our server was quick to bring us a check. He never came back to ask if we needed anything until the “manager” had already been by. I could barely understand him so I did not catch his name. He had an accent, but that should not have caused an issue as I too have one.
