Choose from an elegant selection of surf and turf menu items at city lobster & steakhouse in Manhattan.
The club-like atmosphere at city lobster & steakhouse makes it a good choice for celebrations. Choose from many seafood dishes, such as the raw bar, oysters, ceviche, tuna tartare and crab and lobster salad. For main courses, get crab cakes, cioppino, scallops and miso glazed Chilean sea bass. When it comes to the turf side of the menu, city lobster & steakhouse has filet mignon certified angus, strip steak and more. It has a full bar, as well as many classic desserts.
The restaurant only has a few tables filled, that should have been our first clue. Service was slow, they ran out of mashed potatoes (again, they only had a couple of tables filled. How they ran out of mashed I don't know).
With the number of restaurant choices in NYC, pass this one by.
Steaks and lobsters were great. Inexperienced server brought down experience. Prices on steaks on open table menu were about $15 too low
The waiter seemed very disinterested in serving us. Another server brought us our food and our waiter didn't check on us, didn't ask how we liked the meal. The food was disappointing. The cioppino was not good...the onions and mushrooms were mushy as if they had been overlooked and they neglected to serve with a spoon. A very disappointing evening indeed.
Have had several good meals here and this was an "OFF" night--disappointing. Perhaps the lateness of the hour-- 1015pm. Caesar salad was dry and not Fresh. Server was not attentive. He enjoyed talking and would spread himself too thin, by chatting too much at one table and ignoring other tables. Wished to purchase 3 gifts cards. Advised to go ON-line...HOW do you present a gift card to someone ON-line. So-oo IMPERSONAL. Usually the Caesar salad is AMAZING...not so this evening.
Food was overpriced and not that good. Shellfish was chewy and overcooked. Crab legs were skinny with not much meat. We will not go back.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in NYC. We had reservations at City Lobster for our honeymoon four years ago, but had to cancel. We made sure to keep our reservation on this trip. We had a great experience. We were able to be seated a few minutes before our reservation time, which was very helpful. Our server, Harris, was friendly and helpful. Our beverages and meals were delicious. Pricey, but worth it. We will definitely recommend City Lobster & Steakhouse to our friends to travel to New York City.
We arrived early - were seated immediately. No wait. Service was excellent. Food was good. Good location. Nice experience. Pricey. Would recommend for special occasion.
Always great food and many choices
Service is great and waiter very friendly
One disappointment was that one of the orders was messed up. We ordered mussels with spicy red sauce, and got white sauce
Food was great but the service was absolutely horrible. Was celebrating my first wedding anniversary the waiter was not attentive at all, he never even told us his name he messed up our order 3 times including my drink we are African American so I think that was a factor because the white couple across from us had the same waiter and he seemed very attentive and engaged with them. The service completely ruined my first wedding anniversary!!!
Crab cakes were great, linguine with clam sauce very salty. Waiter was inattentive, asked if we wanted to see dessert menu when we had not received our meal yet. He delivered our wine to another table.
It was during a long weekend in NYC that we decided to have a special dinner and chose City Lobster and it was perfect. The food was amazing and the service great. It is pricey, but we knew that ahead of time. We would definitely go back.
Friend and I did the prix-fix menu before a Broadway show. We enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, generous portion of calamari, the seafood in broth and the lobster (upcharge). All of the food was prepared well and tasted great. For dessert, we both had the pecan pie and ice cream, which was also yummy. ADA/wheelchair access is through the side door using a portable ramp. The staff was friendly and did not make a big deal about the need for access. Overall, a pleasant and tasty experience.
We enjoyed this restaurant a great deal. The menu contained a lot of options and the waiter had some great suggestions. The seafood was very fresh and the meal was great. Would love to return!
I always enjoy having my business lunches at City Lobster. It is convenient, the staff is great and the food is always very good.
Everything was top notch. The menu is a little confusing, however, and was not clearly explained by our otherwise great waiter. The prix fixe menu is an exceptional value, and has a wide variety of choices.
Great service but the price does not match the food.
The food was excellent! We would definitely go there again and bring friends.
Made a reservation based on the Menu and convenience to Radio City Music Hall. We were pleasantly surprised with both the staff and food. Will definitely be going back when we are in NYC!
It's is my second visit to this Midtown Manhattan restaurant. Discovered it on my last vacation. Love this place. Went this visit as a solo and felt so welcomed by Faith, the hostess. She lead me to a great window table. My waiter, Alex was fantastic. His pace was perfect. I didn't feel rushed or ignored. I ordered the 2 LB lobster with a split of Piper Heidsieck Champagne. Awesome! Lobster cooked to perfection. Great location, service and value. This will definitely be one of my go to restaurant when visiting NYC. Enjoy this gem! I know you will love it too.
A go-to spot for me in Midtown before a show or a more casual business lunch. Good menu, quick and kid-friendly.
Excellent service. Excellent meal!!!!
Our host was most gracious , and made us feel like we were being welcomed into his home. The food was excellent as was the service. We were here prior to our theatre date. I would highly recommend for family with kids.
Great Pre-fix for $42, the drinks were well made and priced accordingly. We had a quick bite there before we went to radio City Music Hall that was around the block. We recommend this place to anyone.
Came here for a business lunch and got the prix fixe with crab cake and wedge salad. Food was okay but not spectacular. Not a bad spot if you're in the area and want some seafood.
We have been at City Lobster in the past and returned with a family of first time New York visitors. The family composed of two adults along with their two children were very pleased with the food, service and the price. We will continue to go to this restaurant when in NYC.
I really enjoyed this dining experience. The only suggestion I would make is being more aware of special occasions for your guests. I mentioned twice that it was my husband's birthday and nothing was offered, for example: a tiny cupcake with a candle. (My husband was full from his dinner and didn't want dessert because we were headed to the theater. My daughters and I ended up singing quietly over his birthday gift and taking a "selfie" at the table.)
For a restaurant with lobster in the name, I would have expected nothing short of stellar lobster. I had the lobster salad, and the lobster meat was the worst I have had. It was completely dried out. The host seemed spaced out and did not have good people skills.
Recently I eat over there twice, love the clam chowder and lobster chowder, taste so good.
Lobster roll and steaming lobster are my favorite too. I ordered 1 1/4 pound lobster and came with big size. Overall, the appetizers, entrees, service and location are great, desserts are OK.
The food was ok. The service was clumsy. He spilled soda when he tabled. It was just ignored. We went for the New York restaurant week. The menu was not clear enough for addtional charge. The waiter did not mention about the extra charge when we ordered. This place is for tourists, does not fit for locals.
