City Kitchen - Alexandria
What is American food? We believe it has become a blend of traditional American dishes and those from around the world. Today, cities nationwide are immersed with regional and ethic foods... Our menu brings together traditional American and global cuisine with our own interpretation and personal touch.
Our decor is a reflection of American industry with iron, concrete, wood, and steal. Pops of leather, bronze and copper colors warm it up along with our modern 60" fireplace.
We've been to this restaurant many times. The food is reliably good, although I have to say that the Baltimore crab cakes (which I love) seem to have a bit more filler than when we first went there. A glass of the house Pinot Noir was extremely good. All in all we had a good time and enjoyed the local vibe, despite the fairly high noise level.
Wonderful place, will go to again. aaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been to City Kitchen a couple of times now and each time my service is horrible. They seat you quickly, but take forever to stop by to get your beverage orders and take your food orders. But the bill comes quickly. That being said, the food is good.
Great neighborhood find! Food was delish! Fried artichokes amazing, recommend Chattanooga chicken...yum! Drink choices good, great variety...I'll be back!
Excellent as always, one of my favorite places in Alexandria.
Wonderful experience- great food and excellent service from all staff.
Hidden gem. Great beer and wine selections, amazing food.
I like the variety menu, and the cuisine that covers geographical regions of the country. Ambiance is great, and the food was well prepared and delicious. The servers were very attentive, polite and quickly responded to all questions that our party had regarding the meal. It's worth going back to!
Stopped by for brunch with a former classmate, food was delicious, service was stellar, and the brunch cocktails are delicious and well priced! Highly recommend!
Only negative is it's hard to see the restaurant sign since it's placed below the gymboree sign but that's more logistic and nothing to do with the restaurant itself :)
We had a nice Friday evening meal, that was just perfect to cap off the busy work week! Food was creative and delicious.
Normally City Kitchen is a favorite. I don't know what happened this time, but if this had been my first visit, I would never return. I ordered from the special menu the Mann Burger, at $17. From the description on the menu, I was ready for an amazing treat. Much to my surprise, this simple combination of burger and fries was a complete let down. Beyond the bun, this burger had no flavor whatsoever. It was over cooked and tasteless. The fries were undercooked and limp. Sorry City Kitchen, but know you can do better. Please figure out how to get your magic back and I hope my next visit yields better results.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at City Kitchen. We will definitely be back!
City Kitchen has been our neighborhood go-to since they opened their doors. Sunday brunch is amazing (try the Blueberry Muffin French Toast, waffles or the Weir Beach Breakfast Sandwich), great variety on the menus for lunch and dinner, and they are always happy to make changes so the meal is exactly how you want it. All of the staff are friendly and upbeat, even when they are crushed. The food is great whether you want a healthy salad with blackened chicken or salmon, or not-so-healthy burgers and fries, or chicken and biscuits with gravy. It feels like home. We almost expect to hear everyone yell “Norm!” when we walk in the door. Check it out. You won’t regret it.
Fathers Day brunch. I thought the restaurant would be crowded but it wasn’t overly packed. The food and service were both excellent! We will def be back!!!
2nd time for brunch at the restaurant, my potatoes tasted extra salty. My dining partners enjoyed their meals, especially the crab cake sandwich. Noisy because of the world cup, no big deal. Overall, a good place for a meal, I will return.
The June 2018 special at City Kitchen is the Lobster Roll. That dish is absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go back and order it again! The Lobster Roll comes with a cup of clam chowder, potato salad and a cucumber relish--All were very good and delicious!
I've been here with some colleagues a few times recently, and have enjoyed our lunches. This last visit was just as good, and our server Delante (sp?) was very pleasant and helpful. He warned us that it was his first day off training, but he need not have done so. He provided us excellent service, and we enjoyed our visit.
Great food and great service! We will be back! Thank you!
Loved the atmosphere. Waitress was kind and attentive=great service. The brunch menu was the reason we chose this restaurant and the food did not disappoint! My husband ordered the blueberry French toast which was phenmonal and I ordered the Brooklyn biscuits and gravy. I loved it but it could have used another biscuit.
Fun, neighborhoody place. Very loud when full. Food was excellent and service attentive.
I have yet to have a bad meal or experience at City Kitchen. The food is great, they have an extensive drink menu, and the staff are top-notch. This time, for brunch with friends (including a squirmy two year old), Benji kept us hydrated and got our food out in good order. Never felt rushed, and he was always there to refill coffee or water. Another first class experience in a place where that's such the norm that I feel guilty about not acknowledging it more.
Great food and so many options. Alex, the manager was so nice and let us try some of his food and drink creations. Everything was just perfect. Do not miss this place if you are in Alexandria. Prices are reasonable, the portions are large and the service was fantastic
Great service and food. Had the Charleston Porkchop and the Porkshop special. Excellent. Great beer selection. Will return.
This is a great spot. The Anchorage Salmon was amazing!
Our go to place for great food, drinks and service. We can walk here from our home and have been going here since it opened
A great find in an unexpected location! One of my favorite dining spots in Alexandria. Fun brunch menu, tasty creative drinks, and all at an extremely reasonable price! Were you looking for quality and quantity hunty, because they got it! From the bourbon vanilla waffles, blueberry muffin French toast, and brunch salmon to the long island roasted duck and Santa Monica chicken the food is truly fantastic! And the truffle fries...UNMATCHED, truly. I am always welcomed with terrific service and look forward to my next visit!
Great service, great food!
CK is one of my "go-to" place, the staff is nothing short of fantastic, friendlist EVER. Food is great, service is quick.
Excellent service, as always! Excellent food, as always! I eat at City Kitchen at least once a month since it opened, and I have never had anything but wonderful experiences! This is a must-do for visitors and locals. It’s perfect for dinner with friends, a date, and even if you prefer dining alone. The staff are all friendly, the food is delicious (I had the rack of ribs most recently), and the ambience is comfortable and inviting.
Had a good time!
City Kitchen is our "go-to" for consistently excellent food in a very casual atmosphere. When combined with the always excellent service, it is truly one of our favorites in the Alexandria area.
Friendliest wait staff in the DC area. The food is terrific. I have enjoyed everything I have ever ordered here. But beyond the delicious meals at a fair price - the folks who take care of you are truly attentive and fun.
My wife and I love the Mini crab cakes as they are simply delicious as an appetizer. The fish and chips along with the City Burger were delicious, The fries on both plates were just a tad to salty, but the fish and the burger made up for this. It was really neat having the manager Christina come and greet us at our table as we had been there one other time before. She is a wonderful manager.
The place was just okay. The lighting is too bright. They advertise as a brew pub but they have few beers on tap. Further, the menu just calls them all 'rotating' so you can't see what they have. The food is just so-so.
Great little gastropub in the neighborhood! I can't believe I didn't find it earlier.
My wife and I found out about City Kitchen through Open Table and read several reviews. We were not disappointed as our meal and service were outstanding. Our server Annie was a delight as she was very attentive to our needs and also made some great recommendations for us from the menu. We had the chance to speak with Christina the manager on duty and and she was a delight as she made us feel at home and welcome to the restaurant. We will definitely be returning.
The scallops were great!
This was my third time at Fat City Kitchen and they beverage disappoint. My meal was great and I absolutely love the Bloody Mary.
Date went great! The honey sriracha bacon was awesome on the pizza we got! Great beer selection!
We went for an early dinner. The happy hour was hopping. I had the duck with blueberry balsamic glaze - yum! The fish fry special looked delicious, although the side of coleslaw it came with was tiny. Otherwise, portions were generous and everything was prepared perfectly. Service was friendly. We'll definitely be back.
