City Kitchen - Alexandria
What is American food? We believe it has become a blend of traditional American dishes and those from around the world. Today, cities nationwide are immersed with regional and ethic foods... Our menu brings together traditional American and global cuisine with our own interpretation and personal touch.
Our decor is a reflection of American industry with iron, concrete, wood, and steal. Pops of leather, bronze and copper colors warm it up along with our modern 60" fireplace.
I have been looking for a brunch location that was convenient, had great food, and was under $25 per person for an entree and mimosa. City Kitchen nailed it! The random location in a HomeDepot strip mall makes parking a breeze. We had crab cake benny, breakfast bowl (oh the cheesey grits!), and chicken and waffles. Everything was perfect and in budget. One of the few restaurants I have felt compelled to write a reveiw for because it was so good and since it is off the beaten track I want to make sure it stays open.
This was the first time I have had dinner there after having been to brunch several times. Like brunch, dinner did not disappoint at all. The place was packed as well, so they clearly are doing something right.
We arrived for our reservation only to fjnd restaurant closed due to some utility issue
We love City Kitchen on Friday nights!
Always love City Kitchen! It's like going "home" for us. Food is always top-notch, no matter whether we are getting scallops or a hamburger...always perfectly done! Wait staff is always amazing, friendly, accommodating and efficient. What more can one ask for? As I said, we love City Kitchen!
Food and service are great. Ambiance takes a slight hit due the noise level from the industrial styling of the dining area.
Food is consistent but please change the menu. Same items since you opened - menu needs a reboot.
Service is good - but at times the servers get in weeds and there are longer waits for drink refills and checks.
Excellent food and service
City Kitchen is always a winner, great food, friendly staff and fun atmosphere
City Kitchen has an incredibly long beer menu and some pretty decent food to go with it. It's a great neighborhood restaurant/hangout, but not sure it's worth commuting to from beyond the 'hood.
We visited for Alexandria Restaurant Week and City Kitchen has a great deal for $35 for two people. We also happened to attend on 1/2 bottle of wine night which was a great addition to our meal. The food was good and filling but not spectacular (the vegetables on the rainbow trout entree were cold and the chicken breast had cheese that was melted). The staff is friendly and attentive. Overall liked the restaurant and will definitely come back for more their specials probably just to sit at the bar.
Our go-to local place for something special. Wait staff this evening was really friendly and helpful. Daily special was actually special! Looking forward to our next visit. Don't let the location fool you, this is a great place to eat, with easy and free parking, a bonus around here.
Very consistent, love daily specials, great service, great beer/wine list.
This was my 2nd time back at City Kitchen. I have not been disappointed yet. Wings w/dry rub were amazing and my monthly special 1/2 rack St. Louis ribs were tender and flavorful, and the mushroom risotto never disappoints!! Best of all, our server Harvey was attentive, super kind and sweet! The staff there are all great! Do yourself a favor and try City Kitchen. Make reservations as the weekend nears. They get crowded!
Was a little disappointed in the Muscles that I ordered.. They were very small compared to the previous times that I have ordered them at your restaurant. The corn on the cob was not premium quality either..
Very noisy. Food was good and reasonably priced. Ambiance is poor like eating in a warehouse.
Our waiter Tommy was outstanding! Loved the soup! Our overall experience was great and highly recommend it to others.
Wings are phenomenal, if you’d ask me get the hot dry rub(flats Ofcourse) with a side of the spicy Asian Chile sauce.. little spicy but really worth it. Philly cheesesteak is awesome too! 10/10
We love City Kitchen! The food is great. The regular menu is always good, and the specials are often spectacular.
Great service. I just wasn't in love with the food.
You can always count on getting a great meal and service.
Cute restaurant with some solid bar food and a great beer list. Dinner and brunch entrees aren't really anything spectacular. Service is usually decent here, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I went at 3:00, the staff turnover time. The handoff to incoming staff was ineffective. It appeared that the bartender took over waitress duties which caused a lengthy delay in receiving the bill. I had to ask for it. I also thought the Caesar salad was over-dressed. Otherwise, I love this place and go several times a month.
Love this place, great food, great service and fun atmosphere. The staff seems happy at this restaurant and it makes for a great dining experience.
Had a very pleasant Fathers Day celebration with good service and great food.
This was my first time here but it won't be my last...Excellent service and Amazing Food!
Great food! Mussels are my favorite. And the City Meal Deal can’t be beat.
Great as always!!
Okay... first of all, shout out to Chris, Kirby, Peter, Farrah, and the rest of the crew here! The nicest, coolest, most professional group ever! Delicious food and everything is from scratch! We couldn't decide if we wanted breakfast, brunch, or lunch so we settled on a little of both! Blueberry Muffin French Toast! Yes, French toast made with blueberry muffin batter! Come on! Crabcake sandwiches with huge pieces of lump crabmeat! Wings with sweet sriracha sauce! Did I mention the bacon bloody mary? A homemade bloody mary mix in a tall bacon-rimmed glass. Yep, bacon-rimmed, you heard that correctly.
So happy to have stumbled upon this gem and will definitely go back... if for no other reason but to eat some great food and see the restaurant's amazing team!!
Well-prepared comfort foods at reasonable prices, especially on half-price pizza night (Sundays). Attentive service, not too noisy. Great burgers and almost-remarkable fries. Family friendly and easy parking.
We went to Fat City Kitchen for Mothers Day. They had a decent menu. The prices were very fair. And the food was good.
But the location where we sat was not great, very close to the bathrooms. The service was poor. The overall feel of the place was very average.
I would not go there again.
This is a great little restaurant kind of hidden in a shopping mall.
Always a great place to go
City Kitchen has great food but gets their desserts elsewhere. Their dessert menu lacks choice. I love going there but am always disappointed when dessert rolls around. At least put chocolate ice cream on the menu.
I wanted to like the place. But between the pitiful service, the bath water like coffee, and the lukewarm eggs Benedict, we will not be coming back.
The best restaurant in the Alexandria Landmark area and beyond. The only recommendation is to upgrade the dessert menu.
This was our third time, but they were having problems on a Sunday evening.
The hostess apologized for a printer problem so the list of specialty pizzas could not be printed, but our server would have the list. After waiting almost 10 minutes for our server, we asked about the pizza specials and we were told it is half price for the standard pizzas but when we asked about the special list we were told there were no specials. The information on the webpage said the opposite.
We decided that we would not get any pizza. After ordering an appetizer we were told several minutes later they were out. After one of us ordered a beer, several minutes later we were told they were out.
Excellent as usual! Great food and excellent service
With such great reviews, I had high hopes for this place. The location isn’t great in a strip mall and walking in, I was surprised how small it was too. Almost all booths, which bring very tall isn’t a plus. Took a bit to have our server come to the table to get our drink order. Food was just OK, service was slow, not that friendly and very loud. Unfortunately won’t be a place we will go back to. On the plus side, it’s close to Port City Brewing where we went to after as a way to salvage the night.
I always get great meals and great service at City Kitchen!
