City Bar and Fondue is a fun and exciting social gathering spot in the newly developed 700 block of Gervais Street in the heart of the Vista. For those that don’t know, Fondue is a cooking method in which fresh breads, meats, vegetables and desserts are dipped into warm pots of cheeses, flavored broths, and melted chocolates. This cooking technique is performed tableside for you and your group to enjoy. In addition to the full four course meal, we will also offer a selection of the highest quality appetizers, small plates and happy hour style food menus to enjoy alongside with world class cocktails. The food and drinks will consist of only the highest quality ingredients and freshness known to exist.

City bar was such a fun date night spot. The three course fondue meal was very yummy and made for a fun evening. I would definitely recommend for a different/fun night out!

The less than great service was through no fault of the server. I think she was spread quite thin and did the best she could given the conditions. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.

My wife tried several of the martinis and they were great. We should have stopped there. The actual cheese part of the fondue was good but the house made croutons they served with it were greasy. Also served French fries with it which were great but I can get cheese fries anywhere. We tried two more small plates and they were ok at best. We didn't bother finishing them and left to go eat somewhere else.

City Bar exceeded our group's expectations. It is hard to get a group, let alone a group of 12 women, to all like their food. We thoroughly enjoyed the food options and will be back! The Shrimp and Grits took me to a nostalgic place and was one of the best dishes I've tasted in a long time.

When we went it was not busy at all. Our server was newly employed but we didn't mind. Our appetizer was a chicken dish with pecans. Horrible! Dried out chicken and very tasteless. Our main courses were not much better. Each of us had maybe one item we liked on our plate. We left and went to another place to continue our celebration.

The food was decent. The service was poor. The music from the bar just on the other side of our table was so loud we couldn't talk throughout the meal. The meal was entirely too long for what we ordered. They need to decide if this is a bar or a restaurant and focus on one or the other. Great location and great space though.

The location is in the Vista and the atmosphere is preferable to Melting Pot for sure. I had a few pineapple martinis that were wonderful. The cheese and dessert courses were pretty good, but not as good as Melting Pot. The Caesar salad was not great... I think it was more like a lemon vinegarette... and the meat course was not good at all. The dipping sauces were not all that great for the meat course... and the meat cooking oil left the meat dry and flavorless. AI will definitely return, if only for cheese, dessert, atmosphere and drinks! Overall, it is a new restaurant and locally owned so I plan to support it. With any new business there is a time for adjusting and perfecting, I have every confidence they will perfect the art of fondue soon enough!
