City bar was such a fun date night spot. The three course fondue meal was very yummy and made for a fun evening. I would definitely recommend for a different/fun night out!

This was my first visit here and most likely my last. We came for a couple of appetizers, and drinks. We started with the "fondue", which is more of a dip that is heated at the table. While it was a nice concept, it lacked flavor, and presentation. While the drinks were good, they were over priced.

The less than great service was through no fault of the server. I think she was spread quite thin and did the best she could given the conditions. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.

My wife tried several of the martinis and they were great. We should have stopped there. The actual cheese part of the fondue was good but the house made croutons they served with it were greasy. Also served French fries with it which were great but I can get cheese fries anywhere. We tried two more small plates and they were ok at best. We didn't bother finishing them and left to go eat somewhere else.

City Bar exceeded our group's expectations. It is hard to get a group, let alone a group of 12 women, to all like their food. We thoroughly enjoyed the food options and will be back! The Shrimp and Grits took me to a nostalgic place and was one of the best dishes I've tasted in a long time.

When we went it was not busy at all. Our server was newly employed but we didn't mind. Our appetizer was a chicken dish with pecans. Horrible! Dried out chicken and very tasteless. Our main courses were not much better. Each of us had maybe one item we liked on our plate. We left and went to another place to continue our celebration.

The food was decent. The service was poor. The music from the bar just on the other side of our table was so loud we couldn't talk throughout the meal. The meal was entirely too long for what we ordered. They need to decide if this is a bar or a restaurant and focus on one or the other. Great location and great space though.

The location is in the Vista and the atmosphere is preferable to Melting Pot for sure. I had a few pineapple martinis that were wonderful. The cheese and dessert courses were pretty good, but not as good as Melting Pot. The Caesar salad was not great... I think it was more like a lemon vinegarette... and the meat course was not good at all. The dipping sauces were not all that great for the meat course... and the meat cooking oil left the meat dry and flavorless. AI will definitely return, if only for cheese, dessert, atmosphere and drinks! Overall, it is a new restaurant and locally owned so I plan to support it. With any new business there is a time for adjusting and perfecting, I have every confidence they will perfect the art of fondue soon enough!

Within walking distance of Colonial Life Arena. Menu is varied and you can spend as little or as much as you like. For example, we got the small fondue for two for $11, or you could get the romantic all night fondue for two for $65. Parking out front is a nightmare. Better to park for free in the old Jillian's parking lot next door/out back. I couldn't find a web page for the restaurant, but they did have a Facebook page. Unfortunately, it didn't mention the parking tips. Overall, I recommend. Haven't been there later in the evening, but it looks like it has promise.

The fondue entree was just ok - the cheese and dessert were pretty good, but the entree wasn't great. The appetizers were good but we didn't have other entrees (since we got fondue). The bar was very loud and we were grateful to be in a booth kind of secluded from it but the acoustics didn't allow for us to be able to enjoy our meal without the loud dance music and bar scene interfering with our conversation. In fact, several times, our conversation changed to be about the music since it was so loud. The drink selection was great and we enjoyed ourselves, but it isn't somewhere we would go back for fondue! We will probably go back and try some of the other entrees since we liked the small plate apps...

We were a party of 8 and they squished us into one very small half-circle booth that would have been comfortable for 4-5 people. Some of us ordered small plates and some ordered entrees with an appetizer. We waited close to 45 minutes for any food to come. The small plates (which were some people's entire meals) came out at the same time as the appetizers and the fondue. The fondue was actually delicious. It took another hour for the entrees to come, and by that time, the people who had ordered the small plates as their meals just sat there with nothing left to eat, waiting for us to get our food and eat. The waiter was accommodating, but the service was astonishingly slow. We arrived around 8pm and left at 10:30pm!

The Fondue was mediocre at best. They ran out of Swiss cheese by 8:00 on a Saturday night. Swiss cheese is the key ingredient to cheese fondue. French fries were provided (as a vegetable) to dip in spinach and artichoke fondue???? Fun atmosphere but disappointing food.

When you go to a fondue restaurant, you expect to eat fondue. This is not the case at City Bar and Fondue, however. Upon arriving to the restaurant, we were seated in a large circular booth and greeted by the waiter. He was unsure of the full beer selection, and had to go back to the bar to learn what beer was available. After we ordered the drinks—the one bright spot—we were told by the waiter that only 2 of our party could get fondue, due to the supposed limitations of the induction cooker on the table. This induction cooker, however, was more than big enough to heat two large pots of fondue. I was skeptical, and asked the waiter if it would be possible have multiple fondue pots. He insisted that it was not, but eventually relented and went to speak with the owner, who okayed the two pots. The cheese fondue came out first, and was pretty standard as far as cheese fondue goes. However, it was served with fries, which is an untraditional method I hadn’t seen before, and a disappointing one, as the fries were soggy and would fall into the fondue pot once they were dipped. The waiter insisted the cooker be kept on a low temperature, which made the fondue lukewarm at best. I used my phone and searched the cooker model and recommended cooking temperatures for it, and changed the setting, which resulted in fondue at the appropriate temperature. The waiter, though, would insist the cooker be turned down due to steam coming off of it, though this is traditionally how fondue is served. After this course was taken away meat fondue for 3 came out—the highest number of people we were able to convince the owner to let us eat fondue. The waiter recommended we cook the chicken for 4 minutes, the red meat for 2, and the shrimp for 3—double the typical suggested cooking times for meat fondue. This was an overall extremely disappointing experience for both me and my party, and I cannot recommend dining at City Bar and Fondue.

It was my bad for ordering the shrimp and grits instead of going for the full fondue experience, but I found the lack of a hearty or creamy sauce to be disappointing. The shrimp and grits as separate components were fine, but I probably wouldn't order again. My friend liked her entree. The chocolate peanut butter fondue we had for dessert was delish. I didn't really taste any peanut butter, but it was still good. They only bring a small number of items to dip in it though. Seems like kind of a waste of chocolate. I would definitely go back to try the cheese fondue and some of their signature cocktails. Love that the restaurant can open to the sidewalk in nice weather. Great ambience!

It would help if the waitness introduced herself and explan fondue. I knew but my boyfriend never ate fondue. Also the shrimp and grits tasted good but it was so watery. My boyfriend steak was tender and good.

The prices were great and everything we tried had good flavor. They've done a great job renovating the space. Service was slow and our server had a bit of an attitude. He was friendly on the surface but facial features told us when he was annoyed with our requests. He also hovered while he waited for us to make decisions on food/drinks instead of giving us the time to look and coming back in a few minutes. I would go back for the prices and to try some of the other dishes that sounded delicious. The fondue is better priced than that at the Melting Pot but the selections are limited. You can't beat $5 martinis! The service could use some work and they need to do a better job advertising that they're back there. Most of our friends didn't even know the restaurant existed until we guided them to where they needed to go. Overall it was a good experience. We had a great time.

Went on Saturday, 28 February 2016. Did not realize they were still in soft opening mode. Amount of food compared to another fondue restaurant in Columbia was skimpy and way more expensive. Service was extremely slow. Waiter blamed it on the kitchen, but he was servicing about four other tables, so don't know if that was true or not. He also fed me a line about how the chef goes to a local farm to choose the eggs for the salad he was making but the egg had an "Eggland's Best" stamp on it. Bar was good. They had some interesting drinks.
