Citrus Grillhouse Ratings and Reviews
We have been many times to the Citrus Grillhouse and find the food consistently good. It can be noisy, and so we prefer to sit outside on the porch. Unfortunately, most people seem to prefer to sit outside often making these tables difficult to get. The porch is so nice with the Ocean and beach beyond. Service was good, but we missed Vernon, our favorite waiter. I’m sure we’ll be back next week for more good food, views, and kind service!
Food was good, but a little pricy. We all enjoyed our meals, but not over the top. I had swordfish and it was over cooked. My friend had the endive salad and pasta and felt it was very good. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant indoors was about 2/3rds full. No one table was really loud, but overall it was very noisy. At times when talking across the table you had to really raise your voice to be heard. Not sure I would return.
We were in Vero for a couple of days and wanted to stay beachside and be close enough to walk. The food was decent. We had 2 of the specials - Beef and Swordfish. We sat outside ( kind of bright) and the attire for the entire restaurant is dressy casual. Service was alright. A bit slow as our waitress seemed to 'overlook' us on her passes by our table. My guess is for really good food, you need to go into the downtown area, or drive further south on Ocean Dr.
We spent a chilly Sunday evening under the heaters on the outside porch at Citrus. Grillhouse. We were immediately greeted by the friendly outside bartender, Taylor. She shared with us the highlights on a menu that was small and unique. (We appreciate small menus.) They do everything well. We started with a delicious pumpkin squash soup. Then had scallops and swordfish dinner. The whole meal was scrumptious! Moreover, the service was outstanding through the night. We will be back!
Enjoyed the scallops which were prepared to perfection and served over potatoes with bacon. The salad was enjoyable with kale and brussel sprouts with a creamy dressing. Served with a bottle of wine. We added the desert which was tasty. Portion sizes were adequate. good value for the money in a great beach location.
I have to say I was disappointed in the Snapper entree. Both my friend and I had it it was not light and flaky like the Snapper I remember in Florida.
And it was a featured entree with a kind of bitter dark sauce that I think think belonged on beef.
I always think Snapper takes a light ...hand a little lemon and perhaps capers... perhaps a mango salsa.but this was a very odd sauce I was disappointed. I read about fish not being what was listed. This was my take away.
Next time steak which is usually tip top.
Although I have been to the Bar, both inside and outside, during "Happy Hour", this was my first time dining on the Patio. Although the view of the Ocean is outstanding, the portions are small and we weren't offered bread with our meal.
The hostess and wait staff was friendly, attentive, and cooperative. A late decision to dine on the Patio was accommodated. This was a far cry from my first experience several years ago when I was turned away during the "off season" since I didn't have a reservation even though the dining room was empty.
All in all, it was a good dining experience. I shall return!
We went for a nice dinner date. We decided to eat outside which was fine, although the outdoor terrace needs some noise trap, later at night the view is worth a movie backdrop, very pretty.
The food is really not matching the view and we were extremely disappointed. The $40 entree was not worth a $6 plate in a franchise diner. The fish was dry and flavorless. We favor quality over quantity but in this case the side were neither.
The drinks were ok, but yet again we didn't order extravagant cocktails.
This place could be a great restaurant, it has great potential especially with its location but the decor and the food would have to get a total makeover to justify its fine dining pricing.
As usual the service and the food can not be beat. I tried a swordfish with seasonal vegetable risotto that was terrific. We tried the veal and spinach pasta, the Sunday sauce and meatball, and a red snapper special. The food was wonderful. Harry was attentive, friendly and not obtrusive. Dining on the ocean with such delicious food is hard to beat. This is one of my favorites in Vero Beach.
Great family lunch!Tuna sandwich, Turkey Burger and BBQ Sandwich all were really delicious. Waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive. Next time in cooler weather we would select the outdoor dining area right on the ocean. Outdoor bar looks great for a glass of wine to enjoy the roar of the ocean and the beautiful view.
What can I say about citrus grill. They do some things very well and everything else not that well. Service is always good, but our Ribeye steaks were tough and gristly. I relayed my concern to our server, and got an apology. I did not expect a refund, but a gesture would have been appropriate. A cup of coffee would have sufficed. Oh well another water front Florida restaurant, they all disappoint one way or another.
Food was inconsistent for our group of 6. Salads ranged from good to excellent. Pork chop and scallops were excellent. Swordfish good, slightly dry. 3 orders of salmon were all very dry. Presentations were all excellent. Nice evening but mixed results for food. Some of our party would definitely return, others maybe.
Citrus dining is so fantastic! I had the early dining menu for $16 and a bottle of Pinot Grigio which the server was kind enough to wrap up to take home for $10. The portions are good sizes but not overwhelming. That said the porkchop and sides made their way home with me as I couldn't finish it. The Brussels sprout ceased was so creamy and falorful.
What could be better than great food, ocean view and an ever present owner Scott who makes sure everything is perfect!
Service was fast, too fast!! Our entree was served before our appetizer. When we objected we were told the kitchen was in a mess and all the plates were just dumped on the table.
The chicken salad was stooge. We also found bones in the dog food like mass that was dumped onto a very watery salad
I am told dinner is better than lunch - it would have to be as it could not be any worse
