Citrus City Grille - Corona Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I selected the City Grille as a recommendation from a friend. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was very nice and the service was great. We were not impressed with the food though. We had coconut shrimp for an appetizer which was overcooked. The salmon was over cooked as well but both were still edible. We had to send back an order of scallops that were under cooked. The management quickly acknowledged our request to return the dish and offered an apology. They also offered a free dessert for the inconvenience. We both appreciated the quick response and sincere apology.
We stayed after dinner for the live entertainment, which was awesome!! I would highly recommend going to City Grille for drinks and music.
Our server was very slow and acted like he felt awkward. We ordered a second round of drinks from the bar. He served mine before serving my wife's. Ten minutes had gone by when we reminded him about my wife's drink.
Ordered crab cakes for an app. They were cold, which was unfortunate because they had nice flavor. For entrees we ordered duck confit and a vegetable pasta dish with chicken added. The duck was tough.Could've cooked a bit longer. The sauce was nice though. The pasta was very bland. Some salt would've helped.
We declined dessert. The server then offered us a creme brûlée on the house. I think he sensed that we were not enjoying ourselves. We accepted the creme brûlée, which was gritty or mealy, like it was overcooked or possibly made from a mix.
There was 3 of us and all 3 of our plates came out not the way we ordered. The server tried to make it right and gave us a percentage off our bill. She was very accommodating and very understanding and apologized numerous times.
My recommendation to this restaurant would be to talk to their staff in the kitchen to see if they understand when the server gives them an order.
Overall the restaurant was nice. I felt the prices were high, $14 for a spinach salad with 5 shrimp.
I asked the server if the kitchen could saute the onions and she said no. I asked if they had caramelized onions and she said yes. I asked for those. She made a face, like it wouldn't be good, and asked me if I wanted them on the side.
My friend and I enjoyed the lunch ambiance and they did accommodate my request fro a quiet booth. However, I don't think I'll be back.
We chose Citrus City Grille in Corona because of its location halfway between our business partners in Orange County and our location in the Inland Empire. We are glad we did and our partners were impressed. The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasing - very open and spacious with the ability to see into the large, open kitchen and beautifully decorated. The service was great! Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. There were plenty of delicious and healthy menu choices. We had salads and pasta, and everyone was pleased with their dish. The noise level at lunchtime was perfect for us to have a business discussion.
This is the second time I have been to Citrus City Grille, both times for Sunday Brunch. The choices are good although there should be more veg items. Food was good. Service was excellent the first time but the second time we didn't see much of our waiter. One of us ordered an omelette and it took 45 minutes - way too long. Good thing there was the buffet to pick from while we waited. Another person at our table then wanted to order an omelette but was wary because it might take too long. Hers came within 10 minutes. Overall a great place for brunch but the speed and service needs to be more consistent.
We had a reservation, stood at the hottest stand at least 5 minutes before someone came to tell us the hottest would be back. Got seated, at least 10+minutes before someone stopped to ask whether we had been helped and informed us she was new and training so she won't be our server but she would be happy to get us drinks while we waited for our food and found our waiter.
Another 10+ minutes our waiter came immediately closed the wine list I had left open before asking what I wanted. When I told him (simple order) he asked me to show him. About 20 minutes later he came back with our wine. Never asked if we wanted to order and disappeared before we could. Finally 10 minutes later comes back and takes our order. I got the ribeye, my husband ordered the salmon, and a tuna appetizer which from the description sounded like a sushi roll/plate. He got a salad with pepper covered tuna on it and an avocado egg roll that was just avocado in an egg roll wrapper no flavor.
My steak came and it was the toughest steak I've ever had in my life, it was thoroughly charred to the point of being burnt and swimming in a sea of butter. All I could taste was butter and burned. Definitely not a $40 steak.
My husband didn't care for his salmon at all.
Honestly the best part of the whole experience was the bread. And wine. Although it was white wine, not chilled and he poured a full glass before it was chilled at all. So it wasn't until my 2nd glass that the wine was right.
Definitely won't be back. We had been to the riverside location before it was shuttered and had a similar experience.
My wife had the stuffed chicken and I had the meatloaf. Both where great. From the backed mac n chesee to the grilled asparagus the sides where also great. The bread was hot and the Raspberry lemonade (alcohol ) was also good. Jasmine rice was perfect and the mashed potatos where just creamy enough. I can't stop braving about the meatloaf. From the 1st bite you would think it was a steak but no cutting required. The portions where good so we didn't even need the sides. We reserved a table for 4:30 on a Thursday so not sure about availability. It was right to our table. They have a Hugh wine selection. We where so full that we didn't get to dessert. Had a movie to catch so it worked out great. Definitely going back soon.
Near the Dos Lagos movie theater, where they have a discount movie theater of first runs.
Food quality is first rate, with champagne brunch. Their prime rib is outstanding. Nice salads, good black oysters, shrimp , blitzes, lots to choose from.. excellent brunch place overall.. comfortable seating
We came for fathers day and I'm not sure if it was because we were one of the only minorities in the restaurant but when seated it took 20-25 mins to be served just bread alone, despite other tables getting their bread and water. Also they messed up our order and forgot to put in our order of mussels that we orderd at the same time as the rest of our food. They tried to give my boyfriend crème brulé which he doesn't even eat nor did they ask to give him an option. Food was very good and flavorful buy the service was very disappointing to say the least.
It was my husband and I's first time there. The food was great and the I love the ambience. I would feel comfortable nice casual or nice date attire. Didn't realize this place has live music. Would have sat outside and enjoyed the band. Will be back for sure! One of my new favorite places for a date night or evening with friends. Have to check out the Sunday brunch too! Mimosas! Cheers!
Mothers Day Brunch, on arrival, my wife slipped on the wet floor service, not a bad injury, cut on her arm, but she was shaken by it. Nice assortment of food items, friendly service, but with tip, our total was $100. If you eat a lot and take advantage of the unlimited champagne, mimosas and bloody Mary's, it's probably worth it but you are limited to ninety minutes of dining. They just have so many patrons, it's the only way to accommodate everyone. The GM interviewed my wife about her fall and she received a follow up call a couple days later, which she appreciated.
This is the second time I have been for Sunday Brunch. The food is excellent. I just worry because they apparently have a very hard time keeping the Chicken at a safe temperature. I thought the first time was a fluke, but it happened this time also. Maybe it dishes out fast enough that it does not matter, but it still gives me pause.
Mothers day brunch...
I was a little surprised at the lack of food quality. In the past for regular dinning, it seemed much better. Also the wait in the buffet lines where very long and to my surprise when grabbing a plate at the buffet line, the bottom of it had food covering it... really quite surprising !!! The service was good and attentive as always. We will be back for week night dinners as we've never had a bad experience but most likely will avoid the Sunday Brunch // special occasions.
