We ordered from the 'To share' menu. Both the SPICY CHICKEN CROQUETTES and CANA DEL CABRA (goat cheese, breaded and fried, with a yummy sauce) were delicious. The PATATAS BRAVAS were plentiful, but not the best I've eaten. Some extra sauce on the side might have helped. The wine was $19 for a glass. Service was prompt and courteous, and empty dishes were cleared without delay. We had a bit of trouble finding the restaurant, as there is no sign on the street, or even when one enters the Hotel Valencia. The elevator leading to the restaurant is well hidden, again with no indication of where it is or where it takes you.

The Tomahawk Tuesday deal was difficult to beat in terms of value, quality, taste and quantity! We had the tomahawk cooked medium rare, and since it's such a thick cut, it was perfectly juicy, tender and not overdone. We had the pear & blue cheese salad, as well as the caesar -- both of which were surprisingly good (they tasted better than they looked). For sides, we got the braised leeks and the mushroom ragout -- the flavors were also both very delicious. For our party of 4, we supplemented their signature braised beef cheek dish (best desk of the night) as well as the roasted cauliflower with chimichurri and chickpea puree. What set the braised beef cheek apart was the contrast of texture: melt-in-your mouth interior and surprisingly crunchy exterior. Very well done and a signature for a reason! The service, however, was pretty terrible. Twice, our orders that came to the table were messed up, and when I asked the assistant waiter what the two standard Tomahawk Tuesday sauces were, he said he didn't know. I also had to ask for refills of water 3 times and proactively asked for the check since no one came to serve us or check on us very often. That was very off-putting since the quality and taste of the food was excellent!

We were sat in their outdoor courtyard which is lovely. It was sunny and very peaceful. Unfortunately everything else was less then good. After being seated it took a long time for our order to be taken, we also weren't given a drinks menu and I asked for one from our server when she took the food order - we never saw her again. When food arrived, the order was wrong. Entrees came out but shared appetizers never showed. We let the new server know, and the rest of our order came out way after we had finished with the Entrees. We asked for accommodations on our daughters meal which were also ignored entirely. The restaurant did not seem very busy, but the service was very slow and not good at all. The food itself was also not great. It was bland, and tasted low quality. We did complain and the manager provided a steep discount based on our experience which we appreciated. May have been a bad day for them, but we certainly had a terrible experience unfortunately.

Wonderful ambience, especially for someone new to Oveja Negra. Food was great, but in some dishes, a tad oversalted. My lady's classic margarita was a little too sweet, but the refill was just right. Live music was a wonderful, romantic touch.
