Great chopped salad and a fun cozy place
Excellent cocktails, food and service is why we keep coming back here. It’s really a gem.
Very nice dinner. Plan on returning soon!
The food has become very mediocre over the years and the service has become even worse. This is not the Citizen Public house of years past. It seems to think it’s doing patrons a favor by letting them eat there.
The service was exceptional and the food equal. Thank you - we’ll be back!
Great food. Great service. Spilled water glass cleaned up in seconds!
First timers and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service! I was craving The Original Chopped Salad and they delivered. Will definitely return!
We had a great experience, it was our anniversary. Our waiter Paul was fantastic, he was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines.
We had a great time! Some of the best scallops I’ve ever had, wish there were a few more... only got three and the dish was $30, with no sides. My husband had the meatloaf which he really enjoyed. They also had great specialty cocktails, the social lite was really good. I would definitely go back.
You asked, so here goes:
I have been to your restaurants many times and ordered takeout, also. The service on Friday started out fantastic ! As the night went on we had a parade of serverswho did not communicate with each other. Then we didn’t have anyone for long periods of time.
The Noble Bread plate was terrible. In the past the bread was warm and grilled. This time it was cold, not grilled. There were 2 slices of bread for $7!!!! There were 3 slices of generic white bread -cold. The presentation was not what it has been.
The Martinis were not icy cold! They seemed to have been poured, not shaken!
The tuna crudo was lacking in sauce ( not the creme) and had a scant amount of pistachios .
When I asked for more brown sauce , they brought the white creme! No pistachios!
The chocolate sorbet was delicious, but, the serving was hardly one scoop, and the presentation was just a very small scoop in a bowl. Something line you would serve yourself at home, not at a restaurant! A cookie? A piece of mint? A few berries? A sprinkling of chocolate? A bigger serving??? It appeared to be the very last bit that they could scrape out of the kitchen!
The Buttermilk chicken dish was fantastic!
Also, no salt and pepper on the table. When I asked for pepper, they brought those little glass shakers that you need to take the top off to get anything out!i
I asked for a grinder and he brought the waiter’sgiant grinder!!!
We were sharing the Mac and cheese and it was served in a cereal bowl!
If the waiter ground pepper on the Mac and cheese, the pepper would only be on the top. So what were we supposed to do? Call him back every time we got down an inch?
Also the cereal bowl was ridiculous because every time we went to serve ourselves the Mac and cheese would fall onto the tablecloth!!! It was an embarrassing (to us) mess! The relish should have been served on the side, because the relish fell out onto the table with the first spoonful.
Great food and ambience but noisy
70 th birthday party.
As always, the food is superb. Had the short ribs and they were delicious. The noise level is a bit much but all and all we had a marvelous time.
Amazing service, atmosphere and food. What more do you need?
Outstanding food! Worth the wait. My food was well prepared, fresh, and serving portions manageable!
Great location in Old Town. The Filet Mignon Tacos & the Meatloaf were excellent. We enjoy eating at the Bar and it was quite comfortable and not noisy. Will definitely return!
Excellent service and food
Food was fantastic. Definitely don’t go without ordering the chopped salad & the fondue. Cocktails were delicious. Our server Josh didn’t steer us wrong w his recommendations and was on top of everything.
We had a wonderful dinner. Don’t skip the chopped salad!
The food was very flavorful, but to pay $30 for 3 scallops is somewhat overpriced. Waiter was good but he was very rushed because it was so busy. Noise level Is loud, so request a table outside if you can.
Had a wonderful meal and experience! Our first time there and we will be back soon!
Amazing food and wine list! A true five star restaurant! The service was over the top! I highly recommend to all foodies!
Always a great experience. Happy hour is terrific and you can sit at a table or the bar during HH. Highly recommend this restaurant. It can be noisy siring peak times so try for a table along the wall.
Amazing chopped salad and great service!
Sean, our waiter, was excellent...welcoming, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and informative. The food was excellent. You will not find dishes like these elsewhere. Citizen Public House is a gem!
Birthday get together
Visiting from San Francisco area and found this yummy place on Yelp! Held up to its almost 5 star rating. Food was great. Unique offerings. Barrel aged cocktails were super unique. Would def go back if I lived here.
We loved the original chopped salad and the scallops. We sat on the patio and the service was great as was the atmosphere
Great place to grab a bite and a drink at the bar or a nice dinner. Apart from the noisy, open great room concept, I would say this is a perfect place for a couple to enjoy a romantic meal. The wife and I sat at the bar and grabbed a couple drinks and the Original Chopped Salad during Happy Hour. Great food, great drinks, great service and fairly priced. Very nice!
The food and service was a cut above. It is a lively and friendly gastropub. Has a great cocktail menu. Our service was exceptional, and we look forward to going again
We had the rosemary roasted nuts and fondue to share. I recommend both of these dishes for sharing. We also got the chopped salad and fried catfish. The fondue had sausage, Noblebread pretzel bread, and Asian pear for dipping. The rosemary roasted nuts were slightly sweet and balanced out saltiness of the fondue.
Sierra was an excellent server and the food was fantastic!!
Great service food and ticket time. Well done Citizen House! Bravo!
Recommended by a local while we were visiting Scottsdale; food was excellent and service was fantastic. The meatloaf was fabulous (as good as ours) with a great presentation!
My sons birthday
Found you under numerous reviews for “Best of Scottsdale restaurants “ and confirmed with a “local” and everyone was right!! Pork Belly pastrami was so meaty and yummy and the ‘chop’ salad is also a ‘must have’ to start. Scallops were wonderful - just a fabulous meal!!!
Food was excellent. Great service and very helpful about local favorites.
I had mentioned in reservation it was my husband’s birthday. When seated there was a cute little happy birthday place card at our table!
Our waiter was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Everyone works together ljke a well-oiled machine.
Citizen Public House is always on-point and never fails to impress.
My fish meal was absolute perfection and so good!! My husband had the carne tacos and the steak was so delicious!
At the end of our meal, my husband got a sweet dessert with a candle and more birthday greetings. Nothing over the top; just classy and appropriate.
Love this place! Oh and the bacon popcorn appetizer is crack!! It’s naughty, naughty, naughty - but soooo good!
Wonderful dinner. I had the Sand Dabs and my husband the filet. Got there for the end of Happy Hour so took advantage of the cocktail and appetizer specials before dinner. Nice wine selection. The service was efficient, so friendly, and attentive.
Food and cocktails are always great. We had Gary as our server and as always he was awesome. My son asked for chocolate milk and he went above and beyond (ran over to coffee shop next door to grab some) when they were out.
