Greg was an awesome server! So funny, patient and kind. The rest of the staff was stellar as well as we arrived early and they were able to get us seated early after we made a quick stop at the bar to get a drink first. Greg’s recommendations sold the 5 of us which didn’t let us down! I highly recommend for other out-of-towners as a must stop for dinner location.
Our waiter Gary was awesome and the food was fantastic
We started with the bread and chopped salad. We were interested in the recipe for the chopped salad, and they actually have it printed it up because it’s so popular. For our entrees, we had the scallops, filet mignon and venison osso bucco (special for the evening). All were fantastic. The service was just right. It is a little loud, so an intimate dinner is not recommended.
Incredible restaurant. You have to try the meat loaf!
The menu offered has a variety of different options and the food was great! I found the short rib to be excellent with fantastic complimenting flavours.
Unfortunately the service wasn’t as advertised. The waiter was far from personable and barely spoke when serving the table. When dropping off the dessert menus he literally ‘dropped’ one in front of each of us and walked away...disappointing
Wonderful food, wine, selections, attentive service
Visit the Scottsdale area frequently and we decided to try this venue. Overall, we were quite satisfied. A small but creative menu. Very good service in a busy Sat night. A bit loud at full capacity. Will return.
We had an impromptu family reunion gathering and the restaurant was responsive and flexible with changing the number of ppl in the party within just a few hours of making the reservation. The food was prepared to the specifications of each person and done to near perfection! All meals were presented well, though they didn’t all arrive at the same time. A few ppl at the table had to wait a few min for their food while the others were served. Well balanced cocktails and attentive service!
The service was fantastic. Our waiter was so informative and accommodating to answer all our questions. The food was so delicious. One of those meals I’ll think about for days, weeks & months!
Food was yummy and service was very good. We sat at the bar and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.
I’ve eaten here several times and the food and drink have always been amazing. Service is consistent and quick. The only negative to Citizen is the noise level. Even with the restaurant half full the noise level is still pretty high.
I absolutely love citizen house, the chop salad is my go to meal every time, YES ITS THAT GOOD!!! My husband had the Meatloaf which was delicious and plenty for us to share, we washed it all down with our favorite beer Peroni!! And the staff is exceptional, always making us feel extra special!!
Excellent.. attention to details by our server... thanks
I have had dinner many times because I love this restaurant and during restaurant week they have the best menu and the best food. The service was a little less than what I expected this time is the first time I’ve had service that wasn’t fantastic. It wasn’t a full restaurant and it took a very long time to get service and people passed us by several times but this server was nice and the food was excellent as usual.
We generally sit at the bar, but had some friend with us and took a table. I must say the noise level is very high. But worth the trip.
Meatloaf delicious. Snapper overcooked.
The food and drinks were excellent. The environment was cool and the service was stellar. I highly recommend checking it out.
Must try the Pork Belly Pastrami and their Chopped Salad. Nothing else like them!!!
We enjoyed very much but the noise level was quite loud. Could hardly hear the person next to you.
The restaurant week menu was a great value and had great options! Delicious.
Once again Citizen Public House does not disappoint. We originally made our reservations for two people, but at the last minute a friend came to town, and the staff were only too happy to accommodate a table for three.
We took advantage of the pre-fixed Restaurant Week Menu and it was fantastic!
I had the famous Chopped Salad, Red Snapper, and the delicious desert! Everyone’s food was perfect and so were the cocktails.
Thank you for another wonderful dining experience!
Kevin was the best!
Love the fondue & chop salad
Our server Gary was incredible .. if I could give him 10 stars I would! The food was super yummy and the bread pudding was to die for!
CPH is one of my favorite restaurants, but this time they didn't please. Went for restaurant week. It's usually quite a value, $33 each. The chopped salad was a small portion, still good tho. The scallops were cooked nicely. Came with polenta which was excellent but a pretty skimpy portion. The broccoli rabe or rapini or whatever it was, was downright awful. It was stringy and basically couldn't even chew through it. Dessert was a mango/coconut custardy thing. It too was a bad attempt at something that sounded good but came out as runny pudding with little flavor and some canned mango and a bit of toasted coconut on top. Cocktails and wine were great as was the fondue. I was so looking forward to this out night out and was pretty darn disappointed.
Terrific foo, terrific service, terrific wine list. Sounds strange but their chopped salad, a ridiculously misleading name for an extraordinary creation, is worth the trip. The OPP Pinot Noir label is also as misleading for an spectacular wine. If it was less noisy I would become a regular.
Amazing amazing amazing!!! Drinks food and service are some of the best on Scottsdale for sure!
Love the fondue
Great service and food
Value to the dollar was average. Salad was ok. Chicken was ok. Desert was ok.
Fish on restaurant week special way over cooked for all diners in our party.
The chopped salad is amazing. It was our first visit and we can see why everyone raves about it. It's the best salad I have had in the area. The scallops on the restaurant week menu were great but the red snapper was overcooked. The skin was nice and crisp which was their intent but in making the skin edible they ruined the fish. I think you you mention to them not to overcook the fish the dish would be excellent.
The dining experience was nice, but the dessert was disappointing. The cheesecake was frozen (so cold you could not even put your fork or spoon into it). Once it thawed, I was still not impressed with the taste.
This restaurant is unbearably loud and the noise level completely ruins the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food and drinks, while creative and tasty overall, are unable to overcome the miserable racket that echoes throughout the restaurant the entire evening. I had to shout, LITERALLY SHOUT, at my date across our table for an hour and a half just to try to have a conversation. The nightclubs we went to afterwords were easier to hold a conversation in! What a joke. If you're looking for a restaurant where you're forced to listen to tables of 50 year old women cackle and shriek the whole night, then this is definitely the place for you. Otherwise, if you're looking for a romantic dinner date, keep it moving.
It was our anniversary and they printed a sign saying happy anniversary and placed it at our seats. That was a very special touch.
Amaz food and great service. You MUST get the chopped salad - wow!!
Everything was very good. I would like to go again, nothing stood out as exceptional, except maybe the staff. It was really noisy near the bar where we were seated.
Other than the ear piercing, high-pitched voice of the person at the table next to us, this was a great establishment and perfect setting to celebrate a birthday with the family. Dishes were great, salad was amazing, and the staff was very helpful in their recommendations. I will definitely come back, but with ear plugs just in case!
Always a treat when in Old Town for a great meal. Chopped Salad is an all time favorite as are the scallops. Great place for a special occasion , business meal or date night. Always top notch!
a great restaurant / bar - the service was professional, attentive and real. It was busy, but everything had a nice pace to the dinner. We had a nice booth facing the bar and the food was well prepared. Made it just in time to take care of the happy hour specials.
