Circe Restaurant & Bar
The menu consists of American-infused, Mediterranean dishes and drinks that are "exotic and special."
Friendly staff, great food and service! First time for brunch and worth it.
Circe never disappoints with their food. Went with friends from out of town (Boston) before Waterfire and they loved it. Our server was wonderful! I don't remember her name but I'm sure and I hope you do look her up to tell her how happy we were with her service! The only reason I gave a 4 star instead of a 5 was because where we were seated, it was extremely hot! (We were seated in booth- when you walk in to the left near the window) I know it had to do with the lowered ceiling in that area causing the ac not to reach us because when I walked to the back to go to the ladies room, it was comfortable. When we brought this to our servers's attention, she immediately came over with a portable fan to remedy the situation. I love Circe; wonderful experience and the food is always consistently delicious. I look forward to returning!
When we arrived, they had no record of our reservation, even though I had had confirmation only that day. But they were very gracious and seated us almost immediately at a wonderful table. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable and recommended some dishes. The food was really good, except it was too salty in parts, otherwise it was fine.
Highly recommend! Our waiter David was so accommodating to our table. I brought my bf, and two sons 9 and 12. The kids ordered items off the menu (not too crazy, plain pasta and vanilla ice cream for dessert.) But they made it happen! My kids are picky eaters and they loved the calamari, fresh pasta and brownie with vanilla ice cream. ( my kids creation). So wonderful! David our waiter was fabulous in making my kids laugh. Will go again!
Great food overall and amazing service. Only negatives for me was first: the wagyu burger I ordered medium came well done. I have made burgers far better at home that were not $22. Second: the ambiance didn't really know what it was. It seemed upscale fancy but they were playing club-house music at the bar. It was kind of stuck between elegant and contemporary. Wish they would commit to one or the other!
Overall, seems like a great place to enjoy a nice meal. Ambiance is very cool, and upstairs offers some creative seating areas. We did have two issues with the food that we ordered, which the restaurant did their best to resolve. Filet ordered medium arrived at the table very rare, and the side of mashed potatoes was luke-warm. This is very surprising, as we were one of only 5 or 6 parties being served in the entire restaurant at that time. Sent back the filet and when it returned 10 minutes later it was still not properly cooked to medium. At that point we just wanted to finish our meal, and we also had to point out that they had taken away my wife's serving of mashed potatoes with her filet, so we asked them to replace that side so we could enjoy the rest of the meal. My pork chop was good but not exceptional. The restaurant did not offer any type of compensation for the poorly served entrees. Not sure if we will go back based on this experience, but would certainly encourage others to give it a try.
Wonderful venue. Great food and service.
Enjoyed a great brunch at Circe. My wife and I look forward to going back.
Good place. I’d go back.
Service top notch with Michaela
Valet parking wonderful
Didn't know thee was 10 percent discount if going to show. Not informed and did tell wait staff
Noise level loud bass not pleasant
Open table reservation did not show on Circe reservations even though I received a confirmation
Food was excellent with large portions. Good selection
Circe met a single one of my groups' expectations - we were given a single round of drinks. Our waters were never refilled. We were never offered additional drinks. We were never checked on. In fact, once our order was taken, we never saw our server again. After an hour, with no check-in, and no food, I sought out the manager. I told him that we hadn't been served and hadn't seen our server. I told him (as I told the server upon our arrival), that we were due at a show in 20 minutes. He told me our food would be out "soon." I asked what would happen then, when we were left with no time to eat and an expensive bill? He told me "It's no problem if you need to leave." ...As if his picking up our two seltzer waters and two Shirley Temples was a favor. So, choose Circe if you don't expect to be served food or generally receive service of any kind.
Food was delicious. Service friendly. Pre theater dinner before Hamilton at PPAC. One hour plenty of time for one course dinner. We both had the seafood special - seared scallops over spinach and lobster mashed potatoes. Only negative was the bill - little bit pricey but worth it
Delicious food and drinks! Inviting atmosphere and great service. A win all-around.
Beautiful open kitchen in the midst of a pristine dining room. Exceptional menu with an array of choices, complete with seasonal specials. Wonderful for a special occasion or drinks and bites after work.
The cocktails were cloyingly sweet and not properly made. The oysters were not properly shucked. The entrees were room temperature when they should have been hot. It took 10 minutes after our appetizers were served to get a napkin which should have been on the table to start with. Our waitress was standing 10 feet away chatting when we tried to get her attention to get our check. Finally, her colleague got pur check for us while she continued gabbing. Poor service. Unprofessional preparation of food and beverages.
Excellent menu choices including nightly specials. All of our meals were outstanding and the server was great. Only noticed hostess had to deliver meals because our server had so many tables.
Delicious food, attentive service, charming place and a wonderful location. Go!
Outstanding food; wonderful experience. Circe is one of our favorite Providence restaurants. Never disappointed.
The food was very good. We got the arrancini, crab caramelle, bacon-wrapped filet, and the summer pudding. The server also recommended the salmon, short ribs, and meatloaf. We were lucky to be able to sit on the second floor by the windows which was s good view. We’d definitely like to go back again some day.
Very friendly people, impressive array of flavors organized originally for a delicious series of dishes.
What a gem! We were running late to get to the theater so we ate at the bar. The food and the service were marvelous. We plan to return for a more leisurely dinner!
If you go, go early. The food was excellent as was the service. Unfortunately by about 5:30 the crowd and noise levels increased dramatically to the point that conversation was difficult. It was also quite warm. Fans were in use but didn’t help much.
Great food all around along with Dave’s service. Fish and seafood superlative.
Great menu, awesome specialty cocktails. Service was average, nothing to complain about.
Hostess seemed a bit scattered but, Waitstaff and busboy were fantastic. Very helful with choices. Their special Paloma was fantastic. Charcuteri plate was good, i would have like a bit more cheese with it. Pate was good. My friend had buttermilk fried chicken and waffles which was great! I had crab cakes which were okay, only because they were very heavy on seasoning, which overshawdowed the delicate crabmeat. I would ho again
This was our second time there. The first time the service was slow, but we decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, the service was much worse. We were seated quickly (6:10 for a 6:15 reservation) and ordered almost immediately (we had decided on our choices when we looked at the menu at home). It took 50 minutes for our order to come...but THEY FORGOT THE APPETIZER! Our server looked at us like we had 3 heads. She told us that the appetizer is "on her" the next time we go, but that's not going to happen. There's lots of other good restaurants in Providence.
A great treat to have a gourmet dinner at Circe before going to PPAC. An easy walk to the theater from another great Providence restaurant.
Great location near the theater! We arrived and were seated promptly. We were greeted by David, our server, who was very outgoing- he was genuinely jealous that we had just come from seeing Hamilton. The menu and the additional specials were all intriguing, as was the wine list. The food was excellent, arrived very quickly, and was too much!! Pricing was where we expected for what we had . Overall, an excellent outing!!! We will go back.
We used open table to book a reservation at this restaurant, From first glance at the menu I was happy that it had many Gluten Free option and was close to our venue. For anyone who has allergies, finding a good place to eat in an unfamiliar area can be a challenge. 3 Members of our party have food allergies ranging from Gluten, Soy and Dairy. Upon arrival till we left for our show was such a wonderful experience. We never felt rushed even though we were there for 3 hours. We did apps and drinks and finished with dinner, dessert and coffee. We sat in the loft with views of the quaint street below. David our waiter was exteremly pleasant and very helpful. He was sure to check each item with the chef if he was unsure of any of the ingredients. The drinks were amazing as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful place to eat
Our server Mekayla was amazing, along with great food was fantastic night!
Coming from an hour away, we went to Circe before a show at PPAC. What a great choice! The appetizer was too peppery for me - I could not really enjoy it. The main courses were sooo good - we shared salmon and braised short ribs. The short ribs outshone the salmon - which was very good but not brilliant. The short ribs were fabulous.
Our mixed drinks were also fantastic. I was hard pressed to have only one, which is extremely rare for me.
The staff were wonderful. Both the valet and internal staff made Circe a definite repeat for my next visit to Providence.
Great pre-theater place. They paced the meal very well. We had short ribs and the cider brined pork chop. Both were excellent. Good portions.
Excellent server (Angie). Food was just adequate.
Everything was delicious. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
We had theater tickets. We were served quickly and ably by Dave. My second time eating here. The scallops dish three of us had was delicious. The fourth person had fillet.
Dessert was good also. We will return next time we are in Providence.
We traveled from the Boston and central Massachusetts area for the opening of Hamilton.
I had researched this restaurant online and chose it after positive reviews and the location was perfect.
We had a special guest, an actress and international adjudicator from Ireland, with us. It was our first time visiting Providence, the theatre, as well as the Circe restaurant.
From the moment we entered the restaurant we were welcomed. Our server Dave, was exemplary! Attentive, efficient, affable and accommodating.
The meals were lovely, amazing and innovative. We returned after the theatre to partake in luscious deserts.
We will certainly dine again at this superb establishment again!
A wonderful experience.
The food was wonderful: scallops were amazing, sauce creamy and pasta perfectly cooked. The wagyu burger was enormous and lovely. The service was attentive without being obtrusive, and our wait staff was kind without being condescending to our daughter, eating with us.
Wonderful restaurant in quiet part of downtown Providence. Beautiful understated interior. Personal attention, welcoming. The server remembered my wine choice from previous dinners!
We were welcomed back to Circe. Jared, the bartender, and Angie, a server we have had before were super friendly, and even remembered our tastes! Our new server ( Dave) was very attentive. And Carlo was there to greet us and say goodnight.
Make sure you try this place!
