Fabulous service, fabulous food, fabulous atmosphere
My favorite place for a date night in town. I’m always impressed by the food, service, and ambiance.
This place is amazing! The entire staff is eager to help with anything you need while you are there. From small plates to desserts, you will say we need to come back.
Kip is a most gracious host; we've had Paul as our waiter a couple times and he always does a great job with everything. Food is wonderful, wines are great, service is exceptional.
Food and service 100 percent excellent. Pricing is on the high side, but you get what you pay for.
Best dining establishment in the greater Newport News/Norfolk area.
I brought my boss here because it is one of my favorite restaurants. She loved the food and everything about the restaurant. I had the fried oyster appetizer and the soup of the day, and both were too salty for me. Maybe I should mention that when I am ordering in the future?
We always enjoy our time there. The food is always good, however the Duck dish was extremely good!! Thanks!
Food was excellent both in presentation and flavor.
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Circa 1918. As foodies, we couldn’t have been happier with the food, presentation, and service. The lobster wontons were created perfectly. The flavor profiles chosen complimented each other well. It was a staple that continued throughout our dining experience. My husband ordered the Lamb burger on a brioche bun and I ordered the scallops. Again, burger was made to order. The truffle ketchup is now one of my new favorite foods. Amazing flavor combinations here. My scallops came on top of a pearl couscous. Scallops were cooked perfectly, absolutely what you want from a scallop. The flavor in the couscous were good on their own or mixed together with the scallop when eaten. Dessert also did not disappoint. The chocolate macaroons were some of the best we have ever had and my pistachio creme brûlée was very good. It’s a nice small cozy restaurant with attentive wait staff. Recommend a reservation here. Best dining experience we’ve had at any local restaurant in Hampton/Newport News/York area. Highly recommend dinner here!
Our dinner was absolutely incredible. My wife and I had a marvelous evening and a phenomenal meal. Just a few highlights from our dining experience. First, the manager called me about three weeks out to ensure we agreed with our table placement in the restaurant. Very nice personal touch! Second, the entire staff was amazing. Finally, I have eaten a lot of my lobster; however, Circa 1918's lobster tail was the best ever!
Restaurant not as advertised. Extremely small and crowd. Lighting extremely dark. Website did not reflect current menu.
We went to Circa 1918 for their Valentine's Day special dinner. Both my date and I were very disappointed. There was no part of my date's dinner that she liked. She got a pastry for an appetizer that was bland, her Salmon was not cooked evenly and it tasted like they forgot to add sugar to her desert. I ordered Lobster bisque for an appetizer that was excellent. My duck was over cooked and my desert was bland. What is odd is that we went to Circa 1918 for Valentine's Day 2018 and it was excellent. Circa 1918 very expensive. I have no problem paying for a good dinner if the restaurant's quality is consistent.
Wonderful as always.
The service was great. The food was a beautiful display and well prepared. I cant wait to go back.
Excellent, creative, elegant, professional!
Kip was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Top notch service in a relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent. Meatloaf was tender and flavorful. Lamb burger was cooked perfectly. Will return soon!
I had the Wago New York Strip, it was nothing short of amazing. We sat at the bar, Joe, the bartender, was great. He pretty much ordered for me, since I hate making decisions, and he was spot on! I wish we lived closer to the area, so I could make a stop at this restaurant at least once a month.
We all got the NY strip, and it was incredible. Absolutely delicious. This restaurant always does a great job, and that’s why I try to bring my clients there whenever possible.
Food highlights: a gin cocktail that was both pretty and refreshing. Fried oysters with deviled egg sauce and avocado---perfection. Crisp and multi-layered salad w/ walnuts, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts. Pork tenderloin, medium rare, like meat candy. Ricotta doughnuts w/ blackberry cobbler sauce (not overly sweet, hot and absolutely delicious) Management called me to say my reservation for 2 would be at the bar, which was a courteous heads-up, and since we usually find eating at a bar quite fun, I said okay. The bartender was attentive, and provided excellent service--- no complaints there. However, I'm not a large person, and I still bumped elbows with the man next to me, and struggled to stow my coat and purse on hooks underneath (since the stools have no backs) and found it strangely chilly, to boot. Ah, well...lesson learned. Will definitely be back to this wonderful place, and book earlier to get a regular table.
It never disappoints! Our go to place whenever we are in the area.
Love, love, love this restaurant!!! never not overly thrilled with service and top notch food!
Thank you Chef Chad and Kip and ALL the staff!!!
A consistently fabulous experience. The only place I want to go on date night. In fact it’s really the only place I want to go out and eat in Newport News!
Perfect date night! The food and service was amazing. Will be back for sure!
Service and food were outstanding, as usual
Thank you to Kip for being part of our amazing dinner. Our table was well appropriated. Food arrived promptly and was amazing. The beer and wine enhanced our meals and though the restaurant was busy we never felt rushed. We look forward to going back!
It was as usual: Well prepared and delicious food plated in a unique and tempting manner. It is always a pleasure to eat there, but I do wish something could be done about the noise level.
Last year my co worker and I decided to try Circa for Restaurant week. The food was amazing as well as the service. We've been raving and daydreaming about the food ever since. Of course this year we had to go back and see what the menu had to offer. Unfortunately, the restaurant week food to us was sub-par this year. We left disappointed with not much to talk about food wise. I will say they are always top notch on service so I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone and maybe we need to go back to explore their regular menu.
Great food and Kevin gave excellent and knowledgeable service
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. You might expect the level if service or the food to drop just a tad during Restaurant Week, but that was definitely not the case. The oyster appetizer and Pad Thai we're nothing short of amazing. Polite and friendly service as you expect from Circa. Our second visit was as good as the first. Well worth the 45 min drive from the oceanfront.
Good food; excellent service. The place is small and lacks privacy if you are going to have a conversation.
Excellent food & service
We all agree that this was the best meal we have ever had!
My friend and I were delighted by Circa 1918. The food was exceptional, a symphony of flavors. Our server Paul was friendly, attentive and informative. Best restaurant in the Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown area.
Went for restaurant week and the whole meal was fabulous!
Had an amazing experience here and definitely will be going back!
Everything was beyond delicious, cozy table and attentive service. A perfect date night.
Hands down this establishment had the best food and service! They are passionate about their restaurant and the quality they put out! Even more important they are passionate about their customers!
