My husband and I had the best meal- better than any on a date night in a very long time. Very creative dishes with succulent meats. We will go back again real soon!
Celebrating our 16th anniversary, I surprised my wife by taking her to circa 1918 for our first time(it won’t be the last). The food was exquisite, the service was excellent, and we look forward to going again. For me personally, this was a fine dining experience without feeling stuffy or formal, yet the entire experience was elegant and accessible; we felt comfortable and welcomed. We can’t wait to go back.
Server was very helpful and attentive. Food preparation and taste superb. Loved the ambiance.
I’ve been to Circa 1918 many times and have never been disappointed. Everything is always spectacular and it’s amazing how they can turn simple ingredients into something so delicious Every Single Time! I love how the menu is constantly changing to use in season food!
Loved it! Will go again and again! Cocktails were unique, food was cooked to perfection.
Great food, quiet, romatic and cozy. The waiter was awesome!
Best restaurant experience possibly ever! I definitely recommend this place and be sure to make reservations.
Although our dinner started to get a bit nosey towards the end with nearly every seat filled in a small restaurant the staff was more that friendly and polite and the food was absolutely fantastic.
My husband and I have been to Circa several times and have never been disappointed. Super friendly staff and amazing food and drinks. Love the quiet atmosphere. It is the perfect date night.
I took three friends there for a special dinner. It was a perfect night out- no kids, delicious food, great wine, and great ambiance! Kip was very attentive and answered all our questions. I can’t wait to go back!
Friendly service and lively, fun atmosphere brought down by merely average food. Maybe an off day in the kitchen. The great service and fun vibe motivate me to give it a second chance.
The service and food were noteworthy! We enjoyed our evening very much- except for one customer that talked VERY loudly. When the customer left the noise level was comfortable and conducive to conversation. Will definitely return and invite friends!
Our go-to restaurant for special occasions. Great imaginative food coupled with craft cocktails and unparalleled service.
Incredible fried oysters and mushroom crostini as starters. I had the bison meatloaf, which was tender and flavorful. Husband had the crab cake, which was superb. Excellent meal and service - as always. A favorite spot for us for a special occasion.
Absolutely incredible in every possible way. The duck was literally the most delicious thing I've ever tasted in my life.
We live in Connecticut and every time we visit our daughter at William and Mary we make sure we dine at Circa 1918. Takes us 40minutes from Williamsburg but so worth it. Always a delicious meal. Staff friendly and professional. We’ll be back again and again.
About the best dining experience you will find in the region. Hint: Try it on Thuradays.
Amazing food with outstanding service. The Bartender took very good care of us and was able to make great suggestions for my picky wife.
Our waiter was very friendly and service was outstanding. Loved the food.
The food was soooo good but I feel our service was a little lacking. Our server was very, very nice but I felt like everything took way longer to get to us than at other tables. I’m not really sure what the issue was. But I would still totally eat here again.
Creative and unusual specials, as well as fabulous regular menu. Have never been disappointed. Small and cozy, as well as some outdoor dining space. Fun atmosphere.
This restaurant was great. My lady picked it for her birthday. She had been before and I hadn't. I was surprised how good the meal was. Not a red meat eater but she picked place to eat so I had limited choices. So I decided to roll the dice and try bison meatloaf for 1st time eating bison. Loved it. It's pricey so have at least $100 if on a date. Should cover meal and tip or $120 max! Portions are decent not big but flavor is INCRED! Awesome chefs! I recommend this place any occasion or day. Make reservations to secure table because it's small! Otherwise great meals and ambiance!
Food was amazing, Kip is an awesome waiter overall, the total package I would recommend to any and everyone if you are ever in Newport News and don't stop here it is your loss.
Creative menu w great mix of familiar & unique dishes - amped up - but timid diners will find plenty to be happy with. Cozy one-of-a-kind gem.
I make it a point to eat here each time I’m in town. Continually impressive, great wine selection, terrific service. Food is second to none.
Awesome as always! Thanks Kip and team for helping us celebrate Julie’s Birthday!
Everything was amazing. My wife and I loved the service and the food. It made our anniversary extremely memorable.
Excellent food! I absolutely loved the seaweed wrapped tuna. Highly recommend!
Kip and the food were amazing!

We were cruising the Bay and stopped in Hampton. We like a fine dining experience after a day on the Bay and there didn't seem to be any good options in Hampton, so we went further afield, hailed Uber, and were very pleased with the experience.
Circa 1918 is my husband’s and my favorite date night spot. The food is always fantastic and the service was impeccable. Kip, our server & restaurant manager, made us feel very welcome, calling us by name and taking the time to answer any questions we had about the menu. I love the Thursday night 3-course rotating menus they’ve been doing ($33 per person!) - you can also add wine pairings with each course for $15 (which we did). My husband had the strip steak and I had the duck leg. Both of our meals were imaginative, tasty, and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that the restaurant can be a bit noisy when it’s full.
We had another wonderful meal at Circa 1918. We shared the flash-fried oysters appetizer and had the swordfish and scallops for our main courses. All were absolutely delicious, but the swordfish was the best of all. We will be back again soon.
Great service; exceptional menu-we’ll definitely return.
Fantastic meal! Everything was perfect! It was just me and my husband. We both had a drink, entree, and shared a dessert. From start to finish, everything was delicious
This is a favorite place for our anniversaries - this visit was for year 35. It is expensive, but the food is excellent. The only thing that would have made it a better experience would have been if we had been recognized for the big anniversary - and I did notify them when I made the reservation. We will certainly return - for a special occasion.
Great experience. Would go back.
A culinary adventure with the Prixe Fixe menu. Delicious and wonderful wine pairings. Love the cocktails too. Creative cocktails and always a positive dining experience.
Excellent service, food and cocktails! Perfect dinner!
We love this place, it's our new "favorite". Kip and Paul, the servers were outstanding. The food is amazing. Well worth the price.
Great food and wine!
