My experience was amazing- thank you to the team at Ciprianis!
The food was average as well as the service. For the price, I expected more of each.
Excellent service and very attentive. Will definitely be going again.
Group of 7 was still hungry after meal. Waiters did not tell us flat water was $11/bottle.
I went to Cipriani for NYC restaurant week . Food was just ok . Desert was a very dry pecan pie that should come with a scoop of ice cream . I ordered a dirty martini and it came in a kind of shot glass .
The staff was very nice. The food was horrible. I am not sure if it was because it was restaurant week, but really!!! I go to restaurant week to try out new restaurants to add to my list of places to dine. This one won't make the list. The menu was so limited, I couldn't decide. it was like they only wanted to offer the cheapest food possible. Even offering the cheapest, they should have been able to offer something tasty. My meat was nothing, but fat. The salad was one of the worst things I have ever tasted at a restaurant. Desert was tasty, but something I could purchased in the frozen food section of any store. I wouldn't go back here, but maybe that is the point. It didn't look like they should be chasing anyone away. I was there on a Thursday night and it was empty.
I decided to take my girlfriend out for restaurant week for our early Valentine’s Day dinner. It was both our first times there. I have absolutely no complaints about my experience inside the restaurant. The problem started once I left the restaurant...
When I got home, I checked my bank account and realized I was charged for my meal $270 and an additional $786 of which I did not order. I called them the next morning, around 10:30-11am. The person I spoke with said the managers come in around noon so she took my contact info and assured me someone would call me asap upon arrival. I did not receive a phone call by 3pm so decided to call back myself. I spoke to the manager and he stated that it was an honest mistake by one of the workers there and accidentally charged me for someone else’s bill also. He stated that he would need to speak to his accounting department and would call me back sometime later that day. I did not receive a phone call from him that evening and called back the following afternoon since I now knew he doesn’t arrive until noon. Being that the dinner was on a Thursday my bank said the funds could not be released until Monday. So when I spoke to him the next day he said the same thing, that he would speak with accounting and call me back sometime that evening. Once again I did not receive a call so this time I called them back when it was close to closing time. A young lady answered and put me on hold to get him. I was on hold for more than 10 mins so hung up and called back. No one answered. I called several times and no one still answered. As if they saw my number on the caller ID and chose not to answer.
I understand that human errors happen and some things are out of people’s controls but the was the staff at Cipriani’s handled the situation is unacceptable of a high end establishment, in my opinion. Because of this situation I will never eat at Cipriani’s ever again and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone I know.
I can't believe this restaurant is so bad! We went to have lunch with my colleagues for restaurant week and the food and presentation were awful. Food were bland, lack of flavor and the presentation so sloppy! The dessert tasted like a cheap cake from Costco! Very dissappointed! I would't come back again!
During restaurant week the menu had very poor choices in all 3 courses. There was a choice of fish that I never heard of and the other dish was ravioli with corn. So I ordered the chicken which was all dark meat which I do not eat. I only eat white meat. I told the waiter and he as asked me what I wanted from that menu. I choose the corn ravioli I didn't like the seasoning on the sauce and I only ate portion from that small portion. I spoke to the manager and he was very nice and told me I should have spoken to him before and I said I did not know since the waiter was not forthcoming in assisting me form the beginning. The manager gave me a different desert and fresh fruit to make up for it.
Experience was poor - fish was overcooked and appetizer was lackluster. Not a good value for money.
Very disappointing. Food of poor quality. Not worth spending your time and money
Cipriani is amazing! Food, staff all wonderful..thank you!
My husband and I decided to give Cipriani's a try for restaurant week - we loved the place. The food was fantastic; we both had the skirt steak with roasted potatoes & grilled vegetables. Dessert was equally delicious. My husband had had a slice of chocolate cake which was incredibly rich. I had the pear tart, which was so flavorful and just so good!! I could've eaten another one.
My only complaint was the amount of money paid for a glass of wine versus the size of the actual glass. $14/ $16 for wine in a glass half the size of a normal wine glass. Though, at a restaurant such as Cipriani's. I should've known better.
My overall rating is 8/10. Would go back again, perhaps for lunch or even breakfast!
My friend and I attended restaurant week here. It was her first time. I'm glad we had an early dinner so we we're able to catch up with one another. Overall the experience was nice, I do wish the desert selection had more than one item. I do wish I was provided the waiters name. I enjoy speaking to the individual by name. The manager did mention brunch outside before we left and that made me very excited to try in a few moments.
My coworkers and I went to Cipriani's for lunch during restaurant week. We were disappointed in the food. It was salted and plated sloppy on the plate. It was unpleasant. I thought restaurant week was supposed to encourage people to go to restaurants they normally would not go to and grow their customer base, but I would not return or recommend it to anyone
We had a great work lunch during restaurant week. We had grilled bronzino, fillet mignon and tiramisu and everything was great. The staff was wonderful. Great historic location. It does get a little noisy/ crowed during lunch. A great experience overall - hope to be back :)
The food was good. The service was obnoxiously rushed during lunch hour (leaving the bill on the table without being asked; policing to see if the bill is paid as the second drink was still being consumed). When I complained to the waiter, he blamed it on his supervisor. There were empty tables around so there was no need for such rushed service. It negated the pleasant atmosphere and enjoyment of the food.
We went for our anniversary. For the popularity this place has I expected much better.
The restaurant itself was much smaller than I thought and the tables are so tiny that they were actually uncomfortable.
They ran out of the soup that I ordered but they did offer a substitute. I asked for a second dinner roll but one never came. When I asked again that’s when they told me that they had run out. It would have been nice if they told me that though.
My chicken entrée was very salty and my wife’s fish entrée was actually dry. Only one dessert was offered on the set menu that we ordered from. It was our anniversary so I asked if one of us could get a different dessert.
After educating me on how they don’t normally do that the waiter finally obliged. Definitely felt he could’ve just said yes from the beginning.
We will not be going back to this restaurant.
Our service was excellent and loved the classic New York vibe, starving models included next to us.
Food and service was great. The staff was very friendly and respectful. However, considering it was freezing outside the restaurant itself was freezing as well. It was uncomfortably cold the entire time. I was also very surprised that a restaurant so well known and upscale had such a horribly unkept ladies restroom. Putting those two factors aside I would definitely revisit...maybe during the summer though when it’s warm.
Was surprised at all of the very young "model" types here. Ordered off of the restaurant week menu. Small portions but delicious. Old school dining style. Lots of tourists.
The food was tasteless the menu selection was minimal and it seemed the picked the cheapest items to serve during restaurant week. I frequent restaurants as well as have a husband who owns a restaurant and the food was poor for an upscale restaurant such as Cipriani.
I finally had lunch with a coworker at this landmark, and while we were glad we visited, the experience was underwhelming. It took several tries to get someone to show us to our table, but the staff were generally helpful. While the meat and fish entrees were quite good (particularly the braised beef ribs), the sides were bland and the bread was stale (the butter was delicious). Dessert was ok, but nothing special. I might return to enjoy a cocktail on the balcony in summer, but there's no compelling reason to eat here.
Took them 25min to sit us even with reservation. Service was surprisingly average.
Food was very good however the portions were small for the price. The outside is very inviting, but the restaurant ambiance is disappointing. Excitement for the visit during restaurant week unfortantely did not interest me enough to come back.
Brought a friend to celebrate her birthday. It was the first time either of us have eaten there and we will definitely be back.
Visited for a business breakfast. No one else was there aside from our table, which made it somewhat embarrassing but also beneficial for the conversation. Staff was considerate and attentive. Table was well set with proper linens. Room was rather plain, though the arcaded balcony (which was closed) must have an incredible ambiance.
Very friendly, food was very good, ambiance was lacking. I would go back for a casual meal.
Dinner special is very filling. Was charged for sparkling water as $11 but i never had sparkling water. Just the still water. Kinda suspicious but was in a hurry to leave so couldn’t delve into it more. Would have been fine if i was charged $11 for still water. Not for sparkling which i never had.
Horrible, overpriced, absolute lack of service and included service charge. It is a rudicule.
Luna di miele
Wonderful pasta some of the best I have ever had. You have to have a Bellini. Great old world service. It can become expensive very quickly but well worth it.
I expected so much more. Let’s start with what was really appetizing, the lentil salad with vegetables. This was the best part of lunch. It was tasty, well seasoned, and fresh. However, the Branzino was not great. It was a dry fillet with no flavor. It was the main course. However, the broccolini was very tasty. Maybe if I returned, I will only have vegetables. Cipriani seems to get that right.
Our reservation was very late but the team made up for it
Everything was good but it took the waiter too long to take our order.
It was wonderful...Thanks so much to your team for a warm and courteous service.
My friend and I both got sick we think from the branzino and salmon. It was not a good experience .
The waiter and supporting peopele were awesome. Did not get his name and he did not provide. Great job on celebrating my wife's birthday. Nice. We were surprised by the price of the wine and the overall costs based on premises. Good++, not excellent value for the meal. Staff were excellent. Joe and Penny McGuire Young man walking around only found time for certain customers. Hovered over one table. Would have been nice to have him ask how our night was going.
The service here was in a word...FAST!!! We were a party of 6, and once we placed our orders it was off to the races! A sea of servers refilled glasses and "snatched" empty plates off of the table at a speed that would make your head spin. I suppose it was because there was literally a waiting line of people to be seated, sort of reminded me of a night club! You'd look up and they were looking back at you. The food was very good, delicious in fact with the exception of the tuna tartare...it was flavorless and served simply with crust-less white toast. The desserts were also very good but looked pre-made and thrown on to a plate. Little to no effort went into presentation. If you want fine dining at the speed of a horse race then this fits the bill.
Food was great. Everything else - dissapointing.
My reservation with a client was at 12. Restaurant opens at 12. I arrive there at 11.50 and the doorman told us to wait outside until 12. We get into the restaurant (upstairs) which is more like a lobby converted into a restaurant. Waiters tell us to wait for our party to arrive then we can get seated. There wasn't one soul in the place. We ask again - they say no, we have to wait for your party to arrive. We ask again and point the ridiculousness of the situation. The waitresses ask " manager" sleeked back hair guy, to which he says "yes, seat them at 16 17" (2 small tables pulled together) despite us asking for the round table for 4 people. My boss had to ask the higher manager for a decent table since we are taking out clients. Finally got moved.
Dear Cipriani - the logical time to open the restaurant is 11.30 if you take Reservations at 12, once customers are in - service is on, don't employ middle managers that treat your customers "a dime, a dozen". Thank you and keep cooking delicious food, it will keep some people coming back.....that plus the reputation built at the midtown location.
