Small table squeezed next to bar. The table legs awkwardly were in the way of comfortably sitting. Noise level high, people standing at the bar right next to our table made it very difficult to talk.
I felt like I walked into the back door of the restaurant. I had to ask a busboy if I was in the right place. When I proceeded to the what seemed to be the front I had to ask twice if I was in the right place, then I was asked if I had a reservation and I said I did, I gave my first name and was seated. We had to ask for bread and then had to ask for butter which took forever to come and the restaurant was no where near crowded. The appetizer was a major disappointment as was the main course and dessert. I did not even enjoy my cocktail nor my coffee. And it was a special occasion of which we looked forward to the evening. Then if that wasn't enough, Opentable sends me a message that I missed my reservation - I wish I did. I have had 14 years of events at Cipriani 42 Street and I bring about 800 guests to my event - I was never disappointed at that venue! That is why I looked forward to my reservation at Cipriani Downtown. I will remain loyal to Cipriani 42nd Street, how ever I will never return to Cipriani Downtown.
Every time we go there it gets worse and worse
The food is ok, service ok, prices are very expensive for what you get
A bowl of pasta with tomato sauce $32
I will never go back
I don't mind paying for an excellent meal
There are other restaurants in the city for the price that surpass this one
Good food, nice atmosphere and a bit overpriced. Overall we would say that it is a nice place but keep in mind it will cost you a large amount of money!
We were late for our reservation. Took 45 minutes to get there in rain and traffic. We called ahead and told them we would be late. Did not matter that we had a reservation, took 1 hr 40 min to seat us. Food is way overpriced, but tastes good
Special in every way!
Excelente comida y el servicio muy bueno,el personal muy amable
This is just a place people want to be seen. The food taste ok. The prices are ridiculous. $34 for 6 tiny ravioli. It’s good not great. Sometimes you see a famous person there. Not worth the money but if your hoping to see a famous person you have a chance at this place otherwise go somewhere else
We were very mistreated .
Our reservation was at 12pm .We were very punctual and the staff treated us like we are invisibles .
They threw out our leftovers despite asking to be wrapped up and brought me a different salad as ran out of other without asking me if okay to change. They crammed us another another couple in corner while all other tables were open to spread us out.
❤️ love it here always consistent and the cake!!!!!!
Totally overpriced for plain mediocre food. Rip off.
What an amazing restaurant!! We were in the city for the weekend and decided to have a late dinner here. The food was INCREDIBLE!!
Capriani will be our first stop next time!!!!
Don’t ever go there - tourist trap!
Excellent in every respect except cost was very high relative to other options
Super as usual
Had to wait past our reservation time to be seated in a horrible table in the back next to a large ridiculously noisy group of people. The staff paid no attention. Service was painfully slow. I will say though, the food was awesome. Too bad we’ll never be back because of the arrogant, slow, and unfriendly staff.
Poor to average food. Living off a past reputation
Great place to eat food was amazing
The food and service is always incredible. A must visit when in NYC
Dined at Cipriani Downtown last night and something happened that has NEVER happened before.
During our dinner the manager asked us to move tables so he could make room for a group of regulars that added people to their party. It was outrageous.
We finished up our dinner, left a generous gratuity and will never be back to any Cipriani restaurants.
Food was over priced for what it is. Salads were extremely small (definitely not for sharing even tho waiter suggested we share all appetizers)
Overall was a good restaurant but not exactly what I expected.
Cipriani feels like a private and intimate place. I would definitely return and I would also try other locations in New York. We went for the Chef's daily suggestion for $40 (without almost 8% tax and eventual tip).
The 3 courses started with a nice Bellini followed by a delicious cauliflower soup as a starter. We then had the spinach & ricotta ravioli, the dish not being full of flavours but more enjoyable nonetheless. The lunch ended with a sorbet selection (2 cups), both flavours being very refreshing. Bread and grissini are offered throughout the sitting.
Service was well-timed and friendly, the wines are on the pricy side.
First thine dining at Ciprioni Downtown. Wasn’t sure what to expect. Everything was exceptional... Cocktsiks, wine, revive, food, service, vibe, and very friendly team. We look forward to returning soon! CUDOS!
I arrived just on time. They made me wait around 30-35 minutes along with 50 other people. After that they said they can only give a table at the bar because I made a reservation for 1. Never again. It was also the most noisy place I have ever been to in my 30 year life.
Very bad experience . I and my wife got there 10 min late because a traffic problem . the arrogant manager said he was late and I had to wait. spent almost 45 min and were being accommodated only people who were known "friends of the house". He did not even look me in the eye as he came to ask how much time was still left to clear a table. no answer . it was regrettable the lack of consideration
The food is good but it's more for people watching. Have eaten at many other upscale restaurants with better tasting food. The bellini is not worth $20.00, however.
Great service from a fantastic waitor. Great ambiance. Had the risotto - no taste - do not order. But great desert - both ice cream and tiramisu. More quiet in the back than in the front of the restaurant.
We celebrated my husband’s 40th Birthday!
it was lunch time & not busy.. their maître d seated everybody & forgot abt us.. had to remind him twice. for the price, service was lacking enthusiasm & all looked uninterested..
Muy rico como siempre. Buen ambiente
À chacune de mes visites à NY je vais manger à ce resto!
The regulars were well taken care of. Those of us who were not frequent customers were not seated in a good section of the restaurant. Originally, we were seated at a table with bench seats and I had a picture pushing into my back. We asked for another table and were given one near the bar which was extremely busy. There were tables in a quiet section but they would not give this to us. The entree was very good but extremely pricey. I'm not sure what the enthusiasm is about this restaurant. I don't think we'll be back.
fabulous pasta, great old school service, good location
It was delicious and the waiters were attentive. Provided great hospitality, couldn’t ask for more.
I arrived at 8pm for my reservation, checked in with one attendant who told us table would be ready in 5 minutes, we waited 45 min...The guy who checked us in supposedly didn’t relay the message... this is a complete farce... this is the second time they do this. Other people came after us and they had tables. They only care about their usual customers. They don’t care about new customers. They ruined my mother’s day dinner. I was really furious!!!
To make matters worse, it was so cold they offered us to sit outside when no one was seating outside. This is a joke. They are a joke.
I made a reservation. Arrived 5 minutes before and NO table.
Yhe unpolite host told me that I have to wait so I left the place. Cipriani nevet more
Tables are too close and ambient is too loud. Food is good, but not special.
Great food but expensive! Loud and bright as tables are close together. You’ll be hard pressed to find better food anywhere in NYC. $$$$
