Four of us enjoyed a great dinner after a basketball game. We arrived 45 minutes before our reservation and were seated within 15 minutes. Service, atmosphere and food were great.
Great location, good wine selection, and the food was great. A wonderful menu we all found something we wanted. The service was attentive and friendly.
Best meatballs ever! Authentic! Pizza burned.
Great home made pasta and amazing sauces
For a large party and us adding 3 more to it after we arrive, the staff was very accommodating. Made us feel welcome. Food was absolutely delicious for everyone. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in Austin.
We found it was very easy to converse while eating delicious Italian food. The reason for this is placement of acoustical material underneath the tables. Smart! So many restaurants are too noisy. The portions were a satisfying size. A good value.
A warm, friendly neighborhood restaurant. Reminiscent of ones in the north end of Boston. Food was absolutely delicious and extremely reasonably priced.
We made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday night. We arrived on time, but had to stand by the door and wait 20 minutes for our table. The food was just so-so. The place was very noisy, difficult to hear your dining partners without almost shouting. Service was ok, the waiter was friendly, but very busy. Might be better off peak hours, but the food wasn't good enough to bring me back.
There's reason you need a reservation on the weekends and it's definitely worth it. We always have great service and the food is delicious every time.
Really nice neighborhood restaurant! A good option if you want something that is outside of the normal downtown options. Really friendly atmosphere and really nice food.
Food was very good - great service -parking only issue
The food was fine. We particularly enjoyed the garlic knots. The Caesar salad was not good. It was so loud that it was difficult to carry on a conversation at a table of 6 people. I wouldn’t recommend this for an event or intimate dinner. However, I can see why people would like it for a weeknight bite in the neighborhood.
Super attentive staff and amazing food. The ideal combination. Absolutely loved the Bolognese.
Amazing valentines dinner!!
We loved it!! Excellent food! We will go again for sure
Great local, neighborhood restaurant; lunch or dinner; a little loud; wood fired oven pizza; good wine list
Everything was great except for the noise level. I couldn’t hear the person sitting next to me. I couldn’t wait to leave. I just need to remember to go at off hours.
Only one Pinot Grigio choice on menu
This is a great little Italian restaurant! It's not a very large place, so you will want to get a reservation in advance. I had the spinach alfredo gnocchi, and I would highly recommend if it's still on the menu!
Great for special occasions, or friends getting together. Good restaurant to have a great meal without being overpriced.
A great neighborhood spot and one of the best Italian dinners in town! Excellent service, too. Get the Brussels sprouts!
Great food! Would recommend to anyone for a date.
So good and so yum. Just so loud!
This is our go-to neighborhood restaurant. The food is consistently good and the wine list is reasonable. Love the prosciutto pizza with arugula! Delicious. Good Caesar salad as well. The service is always excellent. We absolutely love our waitress there. She's the best!
I have been eating at Cipollinas for years. I just love the feel of the restaurant, so warm. The food is always satisfying. Just a pleasant place to eat.
Wonderful neighborhood gem! Very reasonable prices, great selection, creatively prepared.
Sat at the bar. Waitress was great and funny. Service was prompt.
My husband and I went for an early dinner before the symphony we had a wonderful meal. Since it was our 21st anniversary our waiter brought us a complimentary creme brulè, yummy! One of our favorite places in Austin for a quiet meal.
We went for new years eve. The set menu was very good. I had Cod. Cod is either good or awful. I was happy taht they did a good job.
This was a great experience--though it was during the holidays and thus less crowded at lunchtime than usual, I'd guess. That's why I rated the ambiance as "quiet". ;) The pizzas are great--a definite must-try for anyone. The only drawback to the restaurant that I could see was the lack of attentiveness to accessibility. As someone who once had to push her mother in a wheelchair, it was hard for me not to notice that the hallway to the bathrooms was partially blocked by a stack of high chairs. Once inside the bathroom, it was clear that a person in a wheelchair would have trouble reaching for the towels and looking in the mirror. If the accessibility issues could be addressed, it would be a more welcoming restaurant for all! Unfortunately, the landlord only seems to have provided one special parking stall, and it's at the opposite end of the building from Cipollina. If anyone in your party has special physical needs, this might not be the best place for you.
Another neighborhood gem! Great food, service, and value! We have come to Cipollina a number of times and have never been disappointed. Even a simple dish like Spaghetti and meatballs is well done and delicious. Noise level is moderate to energetic. Highly recommended!
If you are looking for elegant dining in a sophisticated setting with table cloths and waitstaff with linen napkins draped across their forearm then this is not the place for you. However, if an inviting relaxed neighborhood atmosphere with great food and terrific service then this will certainly be a restaurant you will enjoy.
I picked this place randomly and could not have been happier with the choice. I felt I had found a diamond in the rough.
Parking on Saturday night at 7:00 was a little difficult but well worth the effort.
Two adults and a child. Two drinks, two entrees, one appetizer. $70?
Way overpriced for the quality of the food.
My wife and I had dinner at Cipollina for the first time this weekend. We really wanted to love this place - it's cute, really close to our home, and welcoming - but the food was hit or miss. We really enjoyed our drinks and the white bean appetizer was fantastic. However, my wife's pasta was covered in oil and my osso bucco lacked the depth, seasoning and flavor I've experienced at other Italian restaurants. Like the appetizer, the dessert was great and we enjoyed cappuccinos before we left. I wouldn't call Cipollina a total disappointment. I just wish the entrees would have delivered as much as our other courses.
FYI - Our waitress was awesome - very friendly - but parking was a nightmare. It looked like a sewer line was being replaced so several spots were unavailable. However, I don't think those spots would have adequately covered what's needed for the restaurant. Prepare to find parking in the neighborhood or take a Lyft/Uber/RideAustin.
Celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday. Food was a little disappointing only because it was bland. Very little seasoning. I had the Bolognese. The pasta was perfectly made and cooked, just needed some spices. My daughter's pizza was pretty good. My wife had the Spinach Gnochhi Alfredo. Again - not enough seasoning. Pretty bland. Maybe caught the chef on an off night, but really expect not to have to salt a dish to boost flavor. Spent two weeks in Italy this summer and never asked for a salt and pepper shaker once.
Great meal and service. We shared a caprese salad and each had a pizza. Overall great experience.
We eat here often and have enjoyed the food and wine each time! The staff are excellent. Highly recommend you try Cipollina!
Took my date there. The food was great with vegetarian and gluten free options. We both enjoyed our date very much. At first it was kinda loud because it was at full capacity and a Friday night yet it got better.
We continue to return to Cipollina as it's always great food and great service. Parking can be a little challenging but well worth the risk. The bolognese is outstanding and the pizza is a wood fired gem. Will continue to return and of course, it's highly recommended!
Great dining experience. Food, service was excellent.
We came here after a long day of traveling. The service was outstanding! Very attentive and friendly, but not hovering. The pizza was amazing. I'm not usually a fan of thin crust pizza, but the Classico is delicious!
Dark was my first impression when the four of us walked in. The menu had some great choices. We had the Bolognese and Shrimp Scampi. Both were good. We started with the Garlic knots which were very tasty. We shared a Chopped Salad and a Caesar Salad. The chopped was much better then the Caesar. I would not recommend the Caesar. It had an odd aftertaste. I imagine the dressing is not made in house. I would certainly go back and try a pizza or something different.
