We were told that the corkage fee was $8, but our bill had a $15 charge. We would not have minded the amount, except that it was not correctly told to us when we came in. Also, we reside at EDGE and I told the hostess that. She said she would convey that information to our server, but she did not and we did not get the10% discount. We paid anyway without saying anything but honestly, I think the only reason we may go back is that it is close to where we live, but we would not go there again with friends or plan a get together. The food was ok, but not great.
Made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday dinner recently. The experience was wonderful and the food was FANTASTIC! I cannot say enough good things about the staff and venue. The cigar bar was also great, and has a huge selection of top shelf liquor, as well. We will be back!
I came here on a Saturday night and sat at the bar for dinner. My husband and I had a gift card so we didn’t have any expectations.
Service: I asked the bartender for a dry red wine and he didn’t know what I meant by dry so instead I asked to try two different red wines. After trying both and making my decision, he almost poured the wine into the wrong glass with other wine in it. For opening wine prices of $12-18 per glass, I expect for the bartender to know what dry means and to remember which glass he poured what into.
Food: We had the wedge salad, papardelle, and Cioppino. The wedge salad was straight forward. No complaints. The papardelle had exactly 4 pasta noodles. I hoped for more pasta noodles as this dish is a pasta dish. The Cioppino had a good variety of seafood but the sauce was very very liquid and not as thick as I’ve had before.
The food and service was average to me and is not worth the high price points.
Food is reliably excellent. Terrific wine selection, but more than a bit pricey on the wines. Noise mounts with the live music on Fridays.
We had not been to Cioppino's in a few years, and we are so glad we came back. The cocktails, the food, the service -- everything was great. Without a doubt, the best meal we have had all summer. Already discussing planning a holiday event there since we were so happy with our meal and the service.
Hadn’t been there for awhile. Glad we tried it again. Crab cakes were very good.
My wife ordered the beet salad it was horribly over salted. Manager stated it would be removed from the bill. When the check came it was not and they had to scramble to correct it. We both ordered the cioppino which we've had before and it's always been wonderful, but this time the halibut was dry. Just wasn't their best effort this time.
We went for restaurant week, so I know the choices were different than the regular menu. First course, shrimp and grits, was so tasty. Second course, soft shell chili crab, was not good at all - deep fried in what tasted like old oil and topped with a sauce that tasted like ketchup . Desserts were delicious. I would definitely have to come back to try the regular menu before deciding on this restaurant, but I feel like the restaurant week menu should highlight what they are really good at making.
My mom and I went for restaurant week. The food was appetizing and filling and our waiter was great. I got the yellow tail, salmon and the strawberry dessert. The ambiance wasn’t my favorite. A little too much corporate feel than I would want.
Great food good service. Hadn’t been in awhile glad I stopped in. Took two guys from Amsterdam. They were happy with their dinner as well.
We brought a friend from out of town, who had never been there before, and we all loved it.
Excellent menu with so many choices. Good prep is outstanding
Service was incredible and the food was great
The food, ambiance, etc were exceptional. I’m glad we were put in an adjoined room though because the main room was much too loud for me on account of live music. Very pricey, so while I’ll be going back, it will have to wait for a particularly special occasion.
I took my gentleman friend there for his birthday. Everything was right on spot. Lovely ambiance, great food, great service. It was a all around wonderful experience.
This was the second time visiting Cioppino. Both were very consistent. The food and service were very good to above average. There was a Jazz band playing in the bar area and the atmosphere was very cool.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Food was incredible and served promptly.
We went there with a group of 6 for my friends bachelor party. We were look for a quiet evening and Cioppino's was perfect! The servers in the restaurant and then the cigar bar were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I will defiantly be returning! Overall we had a great experience and everyone really enjoyed their experience.
The food was absolutely phenomenal! Your dining experience opens with an assortment of fresh bread and the best basil and garlic infused dipping oil. So delicious that I could have just ate bread for my meal! The house salad with balsamic vinaigrette was to die for! The scallops were done to perfection! I can’t wait to go back!
This was a nearly perfect experience. Top notch food offerings, professional service but a comfortable, unpretentious atmosphere. I found the drinks to be a little pricier than I would have liked but the food was outstanding. Cigar lounge was perfection.
My husband took me to Cioppino for an early birthday dinner and it was probably the best birthday dining experience I've ever had! I was surprised with Zuchinni blossoms also a birthday surprise treat and even a personalized "Happy Birthday Kristen" on both of our menus. The food was phenomenal I had the sea scallops with lobster risotto and my husband the strip steak both portions were generous and perfectly cooked and presented. Tom was our server and his service was top notch, he knows his stuff and was attentive with our timing since we had a show to attend that evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and would return and recommend to friends and family. My expectations are far exceeded and made for an amazing early birthday. Thanks so much to Tom who made it enjoyable as well :)
Cioppino is one of our favorite restaurants to go to. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We love when they have live music playing too. The food is always amazing and delicious!
Crab bisque was very bland,
Two food dishes took over 1 hour to be served.
Sea Bass Oscar was bad, fish was over cooked, lobster not fresh, & asparagus was great.
Sea Scallops were very good, seared well, & very good sized. Truly Jumbo Scallops
Serving of dinner was so slow, couldn’t risk having a birthday dessert. Had to rush out, due to how slow dinner was.
Happy Birthday customizes menu was a nice touch.
Tom was a good waiter, not sure if he can move quicker. But overall a good waiter, lots of experience.
Conclusion, would not recommend this place. There are other similar places with better quality food, at least from my one Time there. Most likely would not return if visiting Pittsburgh again.
Great service from our server Tom. Delicious food and a great atmosphere!
We been there many times and this was the worst experience we had. The food was good but not as good as times before. Pork belly wasn't as tender. The drink I wanted to try, they couldn't make. The live music was just way too loud. Hopefully next time it won't disappoint.
Favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh! Always great service and food! A destination every time we are in town!
Always a great atmosphere when sit and eating at the bar.
Wonderful staff and service
Great 5 piece meal with wine pairings! Staff was very helpful, attentive and pleasant. Comfortable atmosphere. Jazz band in lounge was the perfect way to top off this visit. We will be back.
We went here for dinner on a Friday night at 5 pm. The appetizers were okay but the main course was awful. My wife had the special of “wagyu” beef and I had the pork chop. The wagyu was not a cut of wagyu beef. It lacked any flavor or seasoning and was full of fat. The beef was also not cooked to our specification. The pork chop was overcooked and had no flavor and no seasoning. We were at the restaurant until 6 pm and the dining room was completely empty. The bar was not much better with maybe 5 people the entire time. We have eaten at the restaurant before but it has gone downhill since. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Our server was Drew. Overall, superb service to compliment the excellent food.
Amazing experience. Great food, staff and overall atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The whole experience was super! Our server was very friendly and helpful and the food was great. Most of our party got one of the daily specials and they were fantastic. It was a pricey dinner, but perfect for a special occasion. Thanks Cioppino!
The place has a great cigar bar, is in a good location and is a nice restaurant. My problem is half with the service and half with the food. The service was good with the exception that they did not bring the sides with the meal. By the time they did, we were done with our meal. They did comp a dessert to make up for their error. So they made good. We had the crab cakes, tuna, sea scallops, and salmon. The salmon and scallops were great. The risotto with the scallops was underdone. The tuna was cooked well, but was bland. The crab cakes were supposed to be lump crab, but it was shredded. They tasted good, but not what we were expecting.
The food was excellent!! Everything came out perfect. The drinks were delicious as well. I love the location and atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.
In Pittsburgh for the weekend, this is a great place. Great food and atmosphere. We ate in the bar area and listened to a great Jazz band. We would come back when in Pittsburgh again!
The restaurant had a very good menu, there was something for everyone. The place was spacious. The bar is spectacular and Jazz on Saturday terrific.
We ordered the Calamari appetizer. Wasn't ready for the tentacles of the squid that showed up on the plate. The waitress said a lot of people were grossed out by them including her. I ate a few but they're just not appetizing to see. The calamari appetizer at the Olive Garden is way better (for perspective).
Happy hour prices don't include bottled beers, the only beers on tap were craft beers.
My wife had the Scallops and lobster risotto. She enjoyed it.
I had the "Cioppino". I didn't find any lobster at all in the dish. Was a medium size portion but small for the price. Wouldn't order it again.
We stopped for some ohio valley pizza on the way home.
The layout of the place is pretty cool, but I don't see how on earth it could be voted "best guys night out" in Pittsburgh.
Lovely music, great food, just a little bit too pricey. Definitely fine dining!
My first time to this restaurant. Wanted to listen to music in the bar area. We ate in the restaurant
and then moved to the bar.
The salad w radicchio, spinach, dates, almonds was excellent. My friend had the carpaccio and said it too was excellent. The red snapper was dry/over cooked and flavors were fine but not exceptional. The oscar fish was good. The prices are high so I want to love my food. There are many items on the menu so perhaps this is not the place for fish, but I wanted lighter fare.
Service was pleasant and attentive.
