The restaurant had a very good menu, there was something for everyone. The place was spacious. The bar is spectacular and Jazz on Saturday terrific.
We ordered the Calamari appetizer. Wasn't ready for the tentacles of the squid that showed up on the plate. The waitress said a lot of people were grossed out by them including her. I ate a few but they're just not appetizing to see. The calamari appetizer at the Olive Garden is way better (for perspective).
Happy hour prices don't include bottled beers, the only beers on tap were craft beers.
My wife had the Scallops and lobster risotto. She enjoyed it.
I had the "Cioppino". I didn't find any lobster at all in the dish. Was a medium size portion but small for the price. Wouldn't order it again.
We stopped for some ohio valley pizza on the way home.
The layout of the place is pretty cool, but I don't see how on earth it could be voted "best guys night out" in Pittsburgh.
Lovely music, great food, just a little bit too pricey. Definitely fine dining!
My first time to this restaurant. Wanted to listen to music in the bar area. We ate in the restaurant
and then moved to the bar.
The salad w radicchio, spinach, dates, almonds was excellent. My friend had the carpaccio and said it too was excellent. The red snapper was dry/over cooked and flavors were fine but not exceptional. The oscar fish was good. The prices are high so I want to love my food. There are many items on the menu so perhaps this is not the place for fish, but I wanted lighter fare.
Service was pleasant and attentive.
The entire dinner package was spectacular. The food was delightful, the service stellar, and the assistant GM made time twice, to talk with us at our table. I look forward to returning in the near future.
My family thoroughly enjoyed their experience at cioppino. I will definitely refer friends.
We went to Cioppino for our anniversary dinner. Our table wasn’t ready, but we were early. We took a table in the bar to listen to the live jazz. That was mistake one, as it was extremely loud. But this wasn’t the restaurant’s fault. Our waitress was so-so, adequate, but truly nothing more than someone who brought us the menu and food. My biggest complaint was the flavor of the food, or lack thereof, and the cost. I expected higher prices as I checked the menu in advance. But for the price, I was expecting so much more. I had the cioppino, which I have had at other restaurants. Bland. No salt, little spice, no salt on the table even. The bread was greasy and had no flavor. My wife had the filet, which was over cooked and still lacked flavor. We didn’t complain, but our night was ruined. We collected our check and exited disappointed. I will not likely return.
Our food was awesome, and Tom (our waiter) was superb! We enjoyed our experience!
We chose this restaurant for our 20th anniversary. It was a fantastic experience from beginning to the end. The service was impeccable. We will visit this establishment again.
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere. The cigar bar is relaxing for a night out.
The cioppino was the best that I have had. Seafood was perfectly cooked, not over cooked which is easy to do with cioppino. My wife had the papardelle and it was excellent. Great jazz band playing in the bar on a Friday night. Excellent experience all around.
Very good food and service. Good music and hospitality will go back if ever in the area again!
One of the best meals I've had from start to finish. The service was impeccable, the food was simply amazing, and we never felt rushed. We had just enough time in between courses which was a treat as most places serve courses back to back. This allowed us to enjoy our drinks and conversation. We will definitely be back!
The halibut was amazing and the two of us enjoyed sharing the polenta with mushrooms and carmelized onions as a side dish along with the roasted beet salad. Nice jazz musician singing in bar area but added to Friday evening date night ambience.
They did a great job serving us for Mom’s special birthday dinner. Our waiter did everything perfectly! Great job!
Although the food was good, they do need to add to the spices a bit (blackened tuna was a bit too plain for “blackened”, the lamb also needed more spices). The sea bass was excellent!
Thank you for making for a nice evening!
Excellent food and service. Best restaurant in Pittsburgh.
Food was delicious! We weren’t aware that we were being seated in bar area and it was a live band, but the band was great and everyone seemed super excited. Service was great. I wish the Brussels sprouts were fried or oven roasted but they were still good!
The service was extremely slow not enough servers working the dining area on a Saturday evening, the house cab was $9 a glass, I chose the only other offered cab and it was $19 a glass, it certainly was not worth $19 per glass. Our food was good we both order Cioppinno Entrée.
The food is very good. The ambiance is great. The price is a little too much for what they offer.
My wife took me for my birthday! I’m a big cigar smoker! Nice place, good food! Service in restaurant and cigar bar was excellent!! Carrie our waitress in the restaurant was fabulous! Don’t lose her!! We will be back!!
It was fantastic. Kristen G. Was an excellent server. Music was loud but we picked the lounge for that reason. Lamb chops were super tender and the chicken confit was amazing. Love the smoking room. Can’t wait to come back.
Can’t say enough. Food was excellent, service excellent, thank you! It was my son’s 22nd birthday and it was an unforgettable experience.
I always love it here. A late dinner that has live music is perfect. Extensive wine list. Lots of seasfood options. The cigar room is nice even if your not big into cigars.
Taylor was an excellent server, food was incredible as always. My favorite meal in Pittsburgh, Chilean sea bass Oscar.
I wanted to try somewhere different. I heard about it on the radio and let me tell you, it was amazing! Took my girlfriend there for her birthday. The food was un real! It was quiet, relaxing, and the staff was so kind and professional. Can't wait to go again!
This was our first time and everything was way about what I expected. The service was really good and the food if anyone leaves hungry it is there own fault. I will be back ...thank you for a great experience...
Not a bad thing to say! The food was AWESOME
Excellent evening. Great food and the cigar bar was perfect.
Great food, service, and environment. Can’t wait to go back!
Love Cioppino. Always great food. Presentations were beautiful. Portions were perfect. The pesto dipping sauce with homemade bread was delightful. The menu options were all mouth watering selections, but Carrie, our server, made some 'spot on' suggestions. Her service was exceptional. We were celebrating a few birthdays and Carrie arranged for complimentary desserts. Cioppino is truly a special place in Pittsburgh for making each dining adventure a memorable one.
The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable. A lovely spot for dinner.
Very nice lounge w/ jazz music. Would definitely return for a drink. Dinner, however, was very mediocre and the lobster bisque was quite poor.
With so many good restaurants in Pittsburgh, won't dine here again.
We ordered the one of the specials: 2-4 oz filets. We ordered "medium" , however, they were cooked closer to well. The quality was good, but they were slight overdone. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed sitting in the back room, nice atmosphere there!
What an amazing experience! All my husband wanted for his birthday was to try cioppino and it did not disappoint. Amazing from start to finish! Try the tasting menu with wine pairings- it's a great way to experience a little bit (actually a lot) of everything. We went to the cigar bar after to watch a hockey game and it was equally impressive. The bar tender was so knowledgeable and made recommendations on whiskeys and cigar pairings.
Fist time here. Loved it. Our food was very good. Our server, Carrie, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was laid back. Music in the bar was enjoyable.
Ambiance was wonderful. Service was wonderful. Food was okay. My filet was chewy.
Bit pricey, but nice place to go for a special occasion. Drink prices are reasonable. We were celebrating my birthday and I had heard that they give you a menu with your name on it, my menu didn't, but my husband and the other gentleman with us both had menus with "Happy birthday Joey", we laughed... no Joey in our party..
Food was good. Lobster bisque soup wasn't hot. I had the crab cakes, they were delicious.
Overall it was good
our food was excellent and our waiter was excellent!
Everything old is new again.
Fantastic fish place by the railroad tracks.
If you have been here before but forgot about it, come back. It was worth it! Also, ask for an absolutely fantastic server named Drew C, and tell him Kendra sent you. He’ll be glad you did.
Just remember that there are railroad tracks in the back. You don’t want to get stuck like we did. Pretty scary. All’s well that ends well though.
