Delicious. We'll be back. 50 characters? It doesn't take 50 characters to say it was DELICIOUS. But it was. So here, I'll type it again. Cool, Open Table seems to think I've done an acceptable review now.
Absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing, everything from the appetizers to the entrees. The dessert sampler was phenomenal. On top of it, a live jazz band plays through dinner, which adds to the mood. In a room off the bar, is a cigar bar, with many cigars to choose from.
We recently dined at Cioppino to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Presumably since we were there on a Wednesday evening, the restaurant was uncrowded and thus eminently quiet. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but not intrusive, and quickly introduced us to the unexpectedly extensive wine list and the dinner menu. Our pre-prandial prosecco was a sparkling introduction to our meal, which comprised an excellent crab bowl, watermelon gazpacho (simultaneously sweet and piquant), & crab cakes for me and scallops for my wife. The food was excellently prepared and presented and altogether most enjoyable. A highpoint of the evening was the surprise presentation by our gracious & thoughtful server of a small but sublime (and gratis) anniversary cake, which we consumed with élan. This was not our first visit to Cioppino, whose menu features steaks and an array of seafood dishes, to the latter of which we are invariably attracted. On the basis of our experience at Cioppino I recommend it with enthusiasm.
This was our first visit! It was a delightful evening! From the first taste of wine and appetizer our taste buds were excitedly activated! We savored every bite of our entrees that was full of flavors and prepared with perfection! Tom, our waiter, was very helpful in explaining the menu and answering our questions and made our experience special! We will definitely be back and spread the word of how amazing it was!
The atmosphere was enjoyable. The service was very good. Our waitress was attentive. We went as a group of 4. My husband and his friend ordered the same steak but different temperatures. I think the staff mixed up their plates - it appeared that their steak temperatures were opposite. My husband did not like his steak - he felt there was too much oil on it. My friend & I enjoyed our meals. It was a bit pricey for what it was. With all of the options out there, I'm not sure I would be quick to return.
It was our first time dining at this restaurant and we were very pleased with everything. The Cioppino was wonderful (we had eaten at 2 other very upscale places and their Cioppino was very mediocre). The service was fantastic and the Jazz Band played music perfect for dinner. The cookie dough egg rolls were unique and delicious! Thank you for such a high quality restaurant.
We had been eager to try Cioppinos for a long time..back when I called and had a two week wait. Finally got our chance last night and after reading great reviews, for the most part, was very disappointed. A Saturday night at 7pm and it was empty..kind of cold atmosphere and with all the empty tables, we were seated at a table awkwardly in the middle of the room. Our server was very kind, attentive and informative..so I held my breath on the food..going by the empty dining room, it didn’t look good. I got the special of the day, the lemon sole..so-so and a little mushy. My husband got the rib eye and, when I saw 1/3 of his steak sent away, not a good sign from a guy that s connoisseur of steaks. We finished and moved to the bar area to hear the jazz band, which were good..but when given the option to eat in the bar area when booking, I’m glad I didn’t because the menu is different. Would I go back? Maybe and give it one more chance.
Love the live music!
Great experience all around. Been here several times and always impressed.
Food was good... did take a while to get our main course but overall our waiter was excellent and all staff was very friendly.
Everything about this meal was fantastic. Bobby our server took great care of us, even when we had a small incident with a glass of water. The service was fantastic, and every dish and drink served was exactly as described and enjoyed by all from the Cioppino and scallops to the oysters and charcuterie/cheese boards. Only suggestion I would have is the martinis were poured a little short to allow the server to carry them, similar restaurants I have been to have sent the shaker along to the table to be topped off once delivered but that hardly took away from the meal.
The food was okay, nothing great. My spouse had a bland pasta dish and I had an okay piece of fish. Nothing to complain about but for the prices, nothing to rave about either. Same with the service - perfectly unobjectionable but hardly a stand out since the server did not return to the table while we were having our entrees to see if there was anything else we needed. The hostess had an attitude of being inconvenienced to greet her guests even though the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. And for the price point, it would be nice if people actually dressed for dinner. The dining room was full of men in baseball caps and tank tops - way more chest hair and armpit hair than I wanted to be looking at while I'm eating a $33 dollar entree. The jazz in the bar is a nice touch, though, so we'll return to listen to jazz and have a cocktail or perhaps limit food selections to the less expensive bar menu.
What more can I say about Cioppino other than it is outstanding. We come here every year for my boyfriend's birthday, and it never disappoints. The food is spectacular, the service is amazing... and the cigar bar INCREDIBLE!
Food was good. A little over priced.
We wanted to take a friend out for a classy, upscale guys’ night out while his fiancée was in Vegas for her bachelorette party. Cioppino was the perfect place. Met for drinks in the bar and listened to the live music while we waited for our table. The food was excellent, with plenty of great steak and seafood options. Then we adjourned to the cigar bar where we sampled some selections from the very respectable bourbon menu, enjoyed a smoke, and watched a little of the game. I definitely recommend Cioppino if you’re planning a nice night out with the boys and want to step your game up a notch or two.
Our waiter was an older gentleman and he was phenomenal. Great evening and highly recommend it.
Liked the atmosphere of the location. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. Both the food and the entertainment were excellent.
Chilean Bass should be a delicacy, mine was way overcooked. Ambience, service all excellent, A pity marred my occasion. My partners meal was excellent.
One of the guests had dietary restrictions that the wait staff and kitchen handled superbly! The meat was prepared as requested and the vegetables were excellent.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
I loved everything about our visit, I would absolutely dine here again.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and loved it! We got there early to watch the Kentucky Derby and had delicious drinks from the bar before we moved to our table in the bar. I booked a table in the bar so we could hear the live music - which was great! Our appetizer, salads, and seafood were delicious. When we go back, we will likely sit in the main dining area which seemed to be more cozy and romantic. We sat right next to the music which was nice since we wanted to enjoy the live music. It may have been a bit loud for some people as we had a difficult time conversing but not an issue for us.
There were six in our party and we were seated at a round table which added to the comfortable, cozy setting. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was spectacular. We will be back.
We sat at the Bar, we were impressed by the Selection of Whiskey and Scotch available to us, particularly the Scotch. I would however, had more than one station to mix drinks as sometimes they were a little behind. Overall would go back again.
Meal was fantastic braised short ribs were outstanding... Bobby took great care of our table... and my girlfriend loved her Chilean sea bass.
We will definitely be back!!
Jazz band at bar was also fun... for after dinner drinks!
Everything was wonderful.
The people (wait staff, host) were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the sound of jazz from the bar area was great--a good group and right level for having music while being able to converse. I spilled my drink (clumsy not drunk!) while it was 2/3 full and a waitress immediately came over to help me wipe it up and then comped me a replacement drink! The cigar bar is always comfortable and fun too although we didn't try it this time.
Our first visit exceeded our expectations. We will be back!
Really enjoyed the live music from the bar area. Food and service were very good. The furnishings are tired, the place could use an update. This was the coldest restaurant I've ever been in. We were initially seated by the window under a vent and it was unbearably cold. The staff did accommodate our request to change tables and we were much more comfortable then and were able to enjoy our meal.
We enjoyed our dinner, and hope to return soon. We started with a charcuterie platter, one cheese and one meat. Also the calamari, all very good. The ladies had salads, with beets, delicious. The King Salmon and Scallops were highlights of the dinners. And tiramisu and chocolate ball, were amazing.
The salmon with white beans was absolutely bland, served skin side up? The a mahi was extremely salty. Not at all what we expected . Would not recommend nor will we go back.
The lamb mini sliders were not that good at all. I was expecting 1 piece of lamb with a bone not ground up lamb burgers that were undercooked. The brussel sprouts were soggy. I love brussel sprouts and they should be baked and broiled to get them crispy. I would not recommend Cioppino for my next business trip to Pittsburgh.
Went there for my husband's birthday. Had amazing food, extraordinary service and a great time. Will definitely be back!
Was able to bring my wine with me.
Cigar bar in back made the night.
Excellent service, excellent food and a lot of fun. Will go back.
Shrimp cocktail was as it should be followed up by a fantastic filet. Date got really nice large scallops. Great pick will go back!
It was good.
Tried Cioppinos after hearing about it on Mark Madden. Absolutely impressed. From the ambiance, to the service, to the food. Our waiter was wonderful. I believe his name was Tyler. He made some recommendations and he didn't disappoint. The food was delicious. The price was on point for what you would expect for the quality and quantity of food you are getting. We definitely will go back and will recommend Cioppinos to friends and family.
Great waitperson (Bobby) and very good food (and drink). Extremely pricey, and the floor in the dining room was a (painted) cement floor like you would find in a warehouse. There was a live band in the bar across the hall, which made our dinner a little too noisy. We will probably not go back -- mainly due the prices.
Cigar bar convenient but sealed off from restaurant. Service in both was excellent and knowledgeable, food was outstanding.
Restaurant was good, however the risotto was bland and cold when it came out with my scallops. Our friend also had the risotto and said the same thing. Server was great though!
We went into the Lounge/ bar after to listen to the band. Not very crowded, but it took forever to get drinks and waters.
Overall it was a good experience, but not sure I would eat there again... maybe just get drinks and some appetizers at the bar.
