Tyler, our server, was amazing as was each person who tended to our table. He made a few suggestions that were perfect. Started the meal with an antipasto loaded with the freshest cheeses, meats, veggies that were delightful. Our server brought homemade bread with pesto dipping oil making that dinner opening magnificent. Things just got better from there. The lamb was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the crab cakes also delicious loaded with crab. Portions were enough for take home to enjoy the next day. Cioppino is one of my favorite places to dine in the city.
Nice wine list, live entertainment in bar area, good food. The place isn't cheap, but they do offer free valet parking. Bar area is a good place for louder more casual dining off of same menu. Nice selection of bourbons as well.
My boyfriend and I ate here for New Year's Eve, and it was an unforgettable experience! I wish I could recall our servers name because he was so energetic, knowledgable, and provided for a great experience for the entirety of our dining time. The food was incredible, and the environment allowed for personal conversation with a slight murmur amongst guests which made the dining experience enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and definitely go back!
Big fan. Would go back again. Good service. Good food. Nice wine. The desert is AMAZING. Try the Smoked Chocolate Mousse. Tremendous
Been here many times my husband smokes cigar and we have had dinner, apps and drinks many times. This was not a good experience with our dinners, my steak salad which I’ve had several times was half the normal size and my husband’s salmon dinner was barely a 4oz portion three bites and it was gone, no bread or rolls were brought no manager checking on guest. ☹️
server was awesome (Drew) and very accomodating! Breads are tasty and unique. Fish dishes are quite good and desserts are a must!
New Year’s Eve dinner with husband, brother and sister-in-law. Delicious food, very pleasant staff; our specific waitstaff (Imani, I believe)was wonderful, very engaging without being intrusive. Did not feel rushed to vacate our seats.
Enjoyed starting with a drink in the bar and listening to a jazz trio. The dinner was wonderful; both the service and the meal was great. We ended our evening in the separate cigar bar with after dinner drinks and an excellent cigar! My husband and I enjoyed our experience from beginning to end!
Outstanding in every way.
Cioppino is a great restaurant with great food and a great ambience. However, our server screwed up just about everything. Pretty certain he was stoned. If not for that it would have been an “A” experience.
My favorite place, smoked pork belly was outstanding!
it was very chilly by the windows and the Halibut was not great. Cioppino, short ribs and sea bass were wonderful. The scallop special had 3 scallops - somewhat short on scallops
Food was pretty good, oddly my steak lacked flavor, but everything else was great. Service was better than excellent. The restaurant itself was so cold the food was chilled almost as soon as it came to the table.
I enjoyed it, but it was just a notch under really good. Ambiance was off (in dining room), food was good not great, and the servers tried to pick up our plates a few times before we were done. It felt like we were being rushed.
The appetizer was supposed to be warm it was cold The lobster bisque was very salty Was out of the entrie that I ordered Service was outstanding the waiter was very attentive apologized and took the lobster bisque off the bill
Scallops with lobster risotto was rich, creamy, and decadent. Cioppino broth was rich, with well developed deep flavors. Recommend a “Polar Express” drink...one of a kind and oh so yummy. The only negative, our waiter was distracted and not very attentive. We saw other waiters at other tables who were providing excellent service. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was cold and service was slow despite restaurant not being very crowded
Had an amazing waiter. Couldn't ask for better service from all!
The food literally was not edible.
Our waiter Tyler was excellent. Very attentive and knew the menu and what to suggest when we had questions.
Food was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly.
Only complaint is their wine list. Yes it is massive but if you want just a glass there’s only one option per kind of red or white.
We went here for my husband's birthday and forgot how wonderful it was. The drinks and wine are fabulous. The ambiance is like being transported back in time. The decor is classic but comfortable with leather and dark tones that make you feel warm and cozy on a cold winter night. There was live christmas music with a jazz theme that really topped the night off. Our food was incredible and then we headed to the Cigar bar where we enjoyed a fine cigar and a classy environment to finish our celebration. Highly recommended and we will be back soon!
this is our first return trip back to this restaurant in quite some time. In the past, we have had amazing food and service and a very wonderful experience. This time was a different experience. the food was average at best, my steak was overcooked, my child's sliders were undercooked ( we sent those back and nobody offered to even take those off the bill, which was well over $300. I thought was classless), and my wife's crab cakes were so average that she only ate one. The service was pretty good until a large party took the attention of our waiter. He did his best after but overall was disappointed with the experience, which is sad because they have beautiful decor, nice atmosphere, and good location. Hope they get it back together
Lucarelli jazz plays the first Saturday of every month and are amazing! I highly Recommend booking a table in the bar area to see them play. Great food/drinks in the bar area, nice ambiance, lively, also nice that full restaurant menu is available as well.
Being from New York I have dined in a lot of the best restaurants in Manhattan. Cioppino is on par with most of them for the menu with appetizers such as Oysters, Smoked Pork Belly, Octopus, and a nice selection of Entrees (we both had T-bone steaks which were seasoned and cooked to perfection (I am ridiculously picky about meat quality) and but what really sets this above and beyond is the cigar/whiskey bar.
The scotch selection is fabulous. The cigar selection, if you do not bring your own is limited, but you will find something to enjoy no matter how refined your taste. You can find anything from everyday bourbon to very nice top end single malt scotch (I really enjoy MacCallan Rare Cask with a Leaf by Oscar). The cigar bar also has a terrific ventilation system so you do not get overwhelmed in a cloud as you walk in the door.
I don't know where to put this for price point comparison as everything in New York is expensive compared to Pittsburgh, but i will say that the entire meal (cigars and scotches also) was probably less than half of a Manhattan Steakhouse.
If you are in Pittsburgh and want an awesome experience to remember, this needs to be on your "To Do" list.
Our second time to Cioppino's restaurant in the last 6 weeks. Took friends this time. Food, atmosphere and service was great! Will definitely request Tom as a waiter going forward!
My wife and I really enjoy the atmosphere, food, live music and professionalism of the staff.
We enjoy the music of the Roger Barbour Group.
We had a very good experience.
Everything was perfect, the only thing I would improve is the temperature in the restaurant.. it was chilly and we could tell more than just us were chilly. Other than that - don’t change a thing. Great service by Drew in the restaurant and D in the cigar bar!
We were visiting from out of town to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff was very friendly and the food was outstanding. I chose this restaurant because other reviewers commented on the high end steakhouse experience without the pretentiousness. I would agree 100%. My wife and I had a fabulous dinner and overall experience and will look forward to dining here again the next time we are in town.
Went here for dinner with another couple. It was bad from the start. The service was very slow and poor. There were many open tables, so being busy was not the issue. The waiter told us how delicious a particular seasonal cocktail was, so we ordered it. He came back and said the bar can’t make it and he doesn’t know why. One of our friends then ordered a bourbon. It was not a 2oz pour. We were offered a shot glass if we want errs to measure it. Really? My husbands salmon was ordered medium well and exceptionally undercooked. We weren’t able to send it back as our waiter didn’t resurface until it was time to clear the plates. After one bite, the salmon was thrown away and my husband was still hungry. Also, my husband ordered a side of the fingerling potatoes. We never got them. My friend then asked if the bar could make us a chocolate martini but split it into 2 glasses as an after dinner drink...we had each already had 2 glasses of wine each. We were told that would be fine...one martini glass came with two straws. Once the bill came, I noticed we were charged for the martini, but there was an add on charge for Grey Goose. We didn’t request Grey Goose. This $400+ dinner for four people was a huge disappointment. We will not be back.
Tyler was amazing! Great food and drinks love this place!
I brought my parents here to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The menu looked great online, but I was slightly disappointed in the food. There were a few items that were very salty, some where surprisingly spicy, and others lacked flavor. The beet salad and the creamed spinach were by far the best dishes. However, the service was amazing, our waiter and the staff took great care of us and compensated for the hit or miss food. After dinner, we enjoyed dessert and cocktails in the cigar bar. The dessert sampler was to die for. It was delicious! It was a nice experience for a special occasion, but not sure if I will go back.
We came here for my husband's birthday this weekend, and they did a fantastic job of making him feel special... Happy Birthday on our menu, a birthday card, and Happy Birthday on his dessert. Our waitress, Carrie, was outstanding and very knowledgeable. All of our food was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I had the scallops and lobster risotto from our waitress's recommendation, and I'm so glad I went with that! All 4 of us would highly recommend it. I can't wait to come back to try something else on their menu! Cigar bar was a little smokier than other cigar bars we've been to, but my husband and brother loved it.
I love this place. Whenever I arrive from Dallas, TX it's always one of my first stops. Staff is always pleasant and service is A-1. Great job guys!
This is our second time to Pittsburgh and found this gem last visit. We LOVE the ambience, service, and local bands. We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday with dinner and staff provided a complimentary dessert as well as a surprise birthday song from the saxophone player at table side! The food, cigar bar and experience is top notch! Our favorite place in Pittsburgh to visit!
Service and setting were perfect, great wine selection. Food was bland.
Everything was excellent. Food and service were fantastic!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, which I noted on the reservation. The service and food were superb. However, I was surprised that they did nothing special for his birthday. Not even a "Happy Birthday". The table behind me which was a group of men, they were celebrating a birthday as well and it was certainly taken into consideration and made known. I was a little disappointed and felt bad.
