My wife took me for my birthday! I’m a big cigar smoker! Nice place, good food! Service in restaurant and cigar bar was excellent!! Carrie our waitress in the restaurant was fabulous! Don’t lose her!! We will be back!!
It was fantastic. Kristen G. Was an excellent server. Music was loud but we picked the lounge for that reason. Lamb chops were super tender and the chicken confit was amazing. Love the smoking room. Can’t wait to come back.
Can’t say enough. Food was excellent, service excellent, thank you! It was my son’s 22nd birthday and it was an unforgettable experience.
I always love it here. A late dinner that has live music is perfect. Extensive wine list. Lots of seasfood options. The cigar room is nice even if your not big into cigars.
Taylor was an excellent server, food was incredible as always. My favorite meal in Pittsburgh, Chilean sea bass Oscar.
I wanted to try somewhere different. I heard about it on the radio and let me tell you, it was amazing! Took my girlfriend there for her birthday. The food was un real! It was quiet, relaxing, and the staff was so kind and professional. Can't wait to go again!
This was our first time and everything was way about what I expected. The service was really good and the food if anyone leaves hungry it is there own fault. I will be back ...thank you for a great experience...
Not a bad thing to say! The food was AWESOME
Excellent evening. Great food and the cigar bar was perfect.
Great food, service, and environment. Can’t wait to go back!
Love Cioppino. Always great food. Presentations were beautiful. Portions were perfect. The pesto dipping sauce with homemade bread was delightful. The menu options were all mouth watering selections, but Carrie, our server, made some 'spot on' suggestions. Her service was exceptional. We were celebrating a few birthdays and Carrie arranged for complimentary desserts. Cioppino is truly a special place in Pittsburgh for making each dining adventure a memorable one.
The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable. A lovely spot for dinner.
Very nice lounge w/ jazz music. Would definitely return for a drink. Dinner, however, was very mediocre and the lobster bisque was quite poor.
With so many good restaurants in Pittsburgh, won't dine here again.
We ordered the one of the specials: 2-4 oz filets. We ordered "medium" , however, they were cooked closer to well. The quality was good, but they were slight overdone. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed sitting in the back room, nice atmosphere there!
What an amazing experience! All my husband wanted for his birthday was to try cioppino and it did not disappoint. Amazing from start to finish! Try the tasting menu with wine pairings- it's a great way to experience a little bit (actually a lot) of everything. We went to the cigar bar after to watch a hockey game and it was equally impressive. The bar tender was so knowledgeable and made recommendations on whiskeys and cigar pairings.
Fist time here. Loved it. Our food was very good. Our server, Carrie, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was laid back. Music in the bar was enjoyable.
Ambiance was wonderful. Service was wonderful. Food was okay. My filet was chewy.
Bit pricey, but nice place to go for a special occasion. Drink prices are reasonable. We were celebrating my birthday and I had heard that they give you a menu with your name on it, my menu didn't, but my husband and the other gentleman with us both had menus with "Happy birthday Joey", we laughed... no Joey in our party..
Food was good. Lobster bisque soup wasn't hot. I had the crab cakes, they were delicious.
Overall it was good
our food was excellent and our waiter was excellent!
Everything old is new again.
Fantastic fish place by the railroad tracks.
If you have been here before but forgot about it, come back. It was worth it! Also, ask for an absolutely fantastic server named Drew C, and tell him Kendra sent you. He’ll be glad you did.
Just remember that there are railroad tracks in the back. You don’t want to get stuck like we did. Pretty scary. All’s well that ends well though.
We like to eat in the bar before going to a show downtown. We made reservations, not thinking about Valentines Day , and only the dinner menu was available. We both ordered the filet with creamed spinach. This was one of the best, perfectly grilled filets I have ever had! I was surprised at how good it was, because I usually get seafood!
The food was delicious, the service was outstanding. Our server, Drew, was amazing and so helpful. I would highly recommend Cioppino, we can’t wait to go back.
We had a very good experience! The server was attentive and knowledgeable! We would go back!
It is an upper-scale restaurant. The food was great, and the service was first rate. All of the staff was friendly and very professional. We originally went there because of the cigar lounge, which is exceptional in it’s own right. I guess I just wasn’t figuring on it being a first rate restaurant as well...but it is! Definitely would recommend this spot to any and all that ask for a recommendation.
*UPDATE* Within 3 days the Director of Sales and Marketing contacted us and was extremely apologetic. We made another reservation this Friday to give them another opportunity, which I think everyone deserves. I will re-evaluate them after this Friday and amend my review accordingly.*
We showed up about 10 minutes early for our reservation and within 10 minutes we were seated at our table. In about 5 minutes the first person to approach our table brought us our water and told us our server would be right over. About 10 minutes later the manager came over and took our wine order (we ordered a bottle) and he brought it right over to our table. We had a glass, and then a second, aaannnddd still no server! We are now at 35 minutes and the original girl that brought us our water came over and took our order, NOT the server! Within about 15 minutes we had our food which is when we finally met our server! We were in the restaurant business (my wife and I have a combined 60 years of management experience in the industry) the server would have been reprimanded and possibly fired if he was a repeat offender! We were hoping by making the reservation would get through the evening quicker so we could go over to the cigar bar, sit, relax, and enjoy a good stick which we did but unfortunately last call came before we we're halfway completed with our cigars! This is by far and extremely poor experience! We will be back because we do believe everybody deserves a second or possibly third opportunity.
Great meal followed my good cigar and after dinner drink in cigar bar. Love this place!
Always good food and service. Music in the bar is a nice added bonus.
We had made plans to have dinner and instead atw in the cigar bar. Drink pricea are steep... food was ok and not over priced. Cigar selection was limitrd. service? We had to seek it out having to walk to the bar for service... two working with a limited # of drinkers they stood behind the bar and talked to one patron ignoring us and others.... final eval? Not worthy of a return
Birthday .. service was excellent!
Food was good..
The Cioppino was delicious!! Wonderful menu. The food is fresh and prepared expertly.
My husband had the pork chop, and it was succulent. We have some dietary concerns and the kitchen was very cooperative in making substitutions.
Thanks to the staff for expert service and attention to detail.
We live in Ohio, and we drove in and met up with an old friend on Friday night of restaurant week. She'd never been to Cioppino, but it's one of my favorite spots. We had an early reservation at 5pm so we could talk when it's still quiet (live music starts at 7pm in the bar). We started with a cheese board, which is always beautifully presented. We also had Calimari. For our first course, I had a warm spinach salad, and my husband had Shrimp & Grits from the restaurant week prix fixe. My friend had a greens & goat salad with spinach instead of the regular greens. I had balsamic on the side instead of the bacon vinaigrette because we don't eat pork. The salads were crisp and fresh. For our entrees, I had the 4 oz filet, medium, and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the duck confit with lamb sausage cassoulet. My friend had the sea bass. We were a little surprised that the sea bass came out quite lukewarm, so the kitchen staff's timing must have been off a little. My steak was piping hot, but my husband's duck wasn't that warm, either. They promptly refired the sea bass, and my husband had them pack up his duck to take home. The desserts were creative and fun. I had the poached pear, and it had some grilled french toast on the side. The pear was absolutely delicious, but I didn't really need the toast, which was a little too done on the edges. My friend said her apple cheesecake was fantastic, and my husband, who isn't that big on dessert, loved his milk chocolate panna cotta. Overall, the experience was lovely. The service, from the coat check to our darling server, who called everyone "love" the entire night, was amazing as usual. We'll definitely be back again.
Outstanding restaurant with a blend of tremendous offerings - a great bar to start, with a fantastic happy hour, incredible food, wonderful service, and a top of the line cigar bar to close out the evening. No matter what you are looking for you can find it here. Highly recommended!
Great restaurant! Enjoyed selections for restaurant week. Waiter was attentive and helpful with menu
Tyler, our server, was amazing as was each person who tended to our table. He made a few suggestions that were perfect. Started the meal with an antipasto loaded with the freshest cheeses, meats, veggies that were delightful. Our server brought homemade bread with pesto dipping oil making that dinner opening magnificent. Things just got better from there. The lamb was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the crab cakes also delicious loaded with crab. Portions were enough for take home to enjoy the next day. Cioppino is one of my favorite places to dine in the city.
Nice wine list, live entertainment in bar area, good food. The place isn't cheap, but they do offer free valet parking. Bar area is a good place for louder more casual dining off of same menu. Nice selection of bourbons as well.
My boyfriend and I ate here for New Year's Eve, and it was an unforgettable experience! I wish I could recall our servers name because he was so energetic, knowledgable, and provided for a great experience for the entirety of our dining time. The food was incredible, and the environment allowed for personal conversation with a slight murmur amongst guests which made the dining experience enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and definitely go back!
Big fan. Would go back again. Good service. Good food. Nice wine. The desert is AMAZING. Try the Smoked Chocolate Mousse. Tremendous
Been here many times my husband smokes cigar and we have had dinner, apps and drinks many times. This was not a good experience with our dinners, my steak salad which I’ve had several times was half the normal size and my husband’s salmon dinner was barely a 4oz portion three bites and it was gone, no bread or rolls were brought no manager checking on guest. ☹️
server was awesome (Drew) and very accomodating! Breads are tasty and unique. Fish dishes are quite good and desserts are a must!
