Cinquecento Roman Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
We had the best time! The food was phenomenal as it always is, the drinks were perfectly made and our service including overall experience was spectacular. I celebrated my birthday that evening and they made me feel so special. Emily (our server) and Sandra (manager that evening) were particularly outstanding. Thank you!! Highly recommended!
A pre-Christmas diner was a wonderful celebration at Cinquecento. Having perrier jouet by the glass added a special sparkle to the evening. This Roman Trattoria is the real deal. The fried artichokes were truly ala Roma style, not breaded like others. The squid ink pasta, al dente, paired well with the clams and white wine sauce. The Bolognese was wonderful. To end the evening the salted Carmel Panna Cotta was a delightful modern twist on a classic. An added benefit is the attached parking lot....easy parking is rare in the city.
Hadn't been here for quite a while. That will change. I remember the food was excellent when I first tried it not that long after it opened. Thankfully, the chef has stayed... and he's firing on all cylinders!
The place was packed last night, a Thursday, with a nice crowd. It's very loud, so understand it's not a place for a romantic dinner. Most people just there for some great chow and seemed to be having a lot of fun.
My starter of Grilled Beef Carpaccio was perfect. My main course, FILETTO DI VITELLO CON CAVOLO described as Prosciutto Wrapped Veal Tenderloin, Marsala, Cabbage Fonduta is 3 medallions of Veal served with a few Brussels Sprouts. This dish is phenomenal... very highly recommended. My brother loved his dish... TROTA CON UVA E CAVOLFIORE, Trout, Cauliflower, Roasted Red Grapes & Capers. He loved his too. A side dish of roasted potatoes was a perfect accompaniment.
For dessert, the PANNA COTTA... Vanilla Panna Cotta, Salted Caramel, Almonds was excellent. Nice wines by the glass (like that you can select different sizes) allowed us to pick what each of us wanted. My Super Tuscan, Le Volte... perfect.
They care about service. We were seated by Sandra who was great and friendly... our waitress, Elizabeth, was attentive and professional. The manager keeps an attentive eye on the room and stopped by our table during our meal to make sure all was right.
This is on the large side and very busy... kind of place that I don't expect to have a meal on this high of a level. I can't wait to check out the pastas on my next visit... I'm sure they will impress... as does everything else.
The cocktails, food and wine were very good, including a kale salad, grilled octopus, gnocchi with rabbit and veal milanese. However, the service was spotty at best with one salad being delivered only after repeated requests and a considerable wait, and pepper being only offered after requests were made both at the salad course and the main course.
Everyone in my party was impressed by the ambiance and how cozy it was. Food was superb and excellently prepared, and the staff was very professional and timely with our service. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends for a nice date spot or birthday dinner where they will be sure that whatever wine and food they get will be top quality and served respectfully.
The food is excellent, the ambience really great, and two pro tips - FREE parking! And you can order half portions of the pasta. The service, however, was lackluster and the waiter took forever.. plus, when he gave us change, he gave it in large bills and never came back, forcing us to tip much more than we had planned - but we need to leave eventually. That felt kind of shady.
Fantastic experience. The for was outstanding and there is a reasonably priced and very high end wine list. The waiter was knowledgable and efficient. The food was superb with an extensive menu of familiar Italian items along with nuanced specials and appetizers. The room was packed and rather noisy which is a major issue and would strongly recommend reservations.
Second time here... They got us to a great table with short notice so that was much appreciated! The food was good, just a touch salty for my taste, but still pretty good. The tiramisu was EXCELLENT though, maybe the best I've ever had?! The service was outstanding though, our waiter was so friendly and hit the sweet spot of being attentive but not overbearing. We definitely will be coming back!
My wife and I were in town to celebrate our 45th anniversary. When I booked my reservation, I made note of the occasion. When we arrived, I mentioned to our server Phil of the occasion to which he replied, "I know". We started with complementary glasses of Proseco. After our starter, Phil brought us a special bite made by the chef for the occasion. We had two visits by the manager Jamie, who was so pleasant and welcoming. Our food was delicious, my wife had the chicken and I had the squid pasta with clams. As we left, we received another special gift from Jamie and Phil. The restaurant has been open for many years but there was no lessening in the quality of the service and food. Everything was great! Some reviews complained about the noise level, but we found the level to be consistent with any busy city restaurant, what you would call a "buzz". Thank you Jamie and Phil for making our special event very special.
My son lives nearby so we tried Cinquecento for the first time about a year ago and have been back several times since. The food is terrific, the menu changes seasonally and there are always delicious options. FREE parking right next to the restaurant is a wonderful bonus! This time we had Santiago as a server and he was fantastic: just the right amount of attention, very knowledgeable about the menu and a very nice guy. We will be back!
We were a group of 8 having dinner after an event on nearby Harrison Avenue. Cinquecento Roman Trattoria was packed with people having a good time, including a a group of ladies in the bar boisterously celebrating a birthday. The noise level was very high. The restaurant was very busy, and though we arrived promptly for our reservation we had to wait almost 20 minutes for our table. Luckily our table was in a back corner upstairs, where we could hear each other once we were seated. The waiter was very attentive, and handled our drink and meal orders with efficiency and attention. I ordered the Rigatoni with Italian Sausage with Fennel. It was absolutely delicious, the rigatoni al dente, the sauce very flavorful. I ate every piece, and I would order it again. Our table of 8 was served all at the same time, from big trays, which I really admired - old style service. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and small carafe of Montepulciano . The food is worth the visit, the service is top notch. Don't go if you don't like loud restaurant.
