We went for the price fixed Sunday brunch the eggs with ricotta was wonderful, my husband had the eggs with pulled pork and beans, which he really enjoyed. The pastries were nice, the beignets and the chocolate croissant were served warm.
We had a 8:45 reservation and sadly weren't sat until after 9:30. They did offer some extra cheese plates for the wait. Kitchen was super slow and took over an hour to get our meals. The server was good and the ambiance and food was tasty, but overall a tough dinner.
Very nice for lunch. Our waiter was ourstanding, no hurry to leave. Outside tables were not open yet but looks like a nice spot for when the weather is good
Food was blah for the price. Would not recommend. The linguini con vongole had very few clams and almost no clam flavor. And it was priced at $28!! The banana torte was very dry and was more of a muffin than a torte. The service was mediocre and abrupt. Overall it was a very disappointing experience.
I had dinner at Cinquecento with a friend on a Wednesday night. My friend ordered the branzino and I had the sole, which is a Wednesday night special. We tasted each other's, so I can write confidently that they both were wonderful. For dessert we had the panna cotta which was sweet, creamy, and delicious. The sound level was moderate, but perhaps on a weekend night it might be louder. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The only issue is that the restaurant is on the 2nd floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. My friend is handicapped and this made it difficult for her. There is an elevator, but one has to find an employee to bring the elevator up and down. We did love the food and the ambience, and enjoyed our evening very much.
Although the restaurant is open until 11:00 pm, there was only one table still there when we arrived. Our waiter wes very polite and friendly, but had “checked ou” already. He was quite inattentive. The servers clearly did not want to be there. They pushed the asparagus and egg appetizers on the table. The appetizer was bland and almost tasteless. We had to ask for bread and it didn’nt taste that fresh. One person’s cocktail was not at all what had been described. our waiter took it back but did not offer to replace it until he overheard us saying it should have been replaced. We asked that the cacio de pepe be doubled to an entree size and that was fine...and delicious. We have been to Cinquecento quite a few times and have been very happy with our dining experience, but not this time.
Very good Italian food but nothing extraordinary.
Had spaghetti with white clam sauce, spaghetti carbonara, and roasted chicken.
All very good.
Easy parking which is big plus in Boston.
I went for Mother’s Day brunch with my mom. We got there early and they weren’t able to seat us at our table, so we just grabbed seats at the bar. It was great! She loved it!
We love this place, but they struggled to handle the volume on Mother’s Day. Food was worst it’s ever been. Polenta had clearly been sitting around for a bit (it was congealed together). We will definitely come back bc we’ve had so many good experiences, but this one wasn’t great.
I’ve been to Cinquecento many times and always had a great experience. This time - Mother’s Day - was a big let down. The food and wait service was excellent. The ambiance was dreadful. The hostess stuck us at a table right next to the crowded bar. People at the bar where looming over us speaking in a loud voice. At times, they were within inches of our seats. This particular table never should have been placed in this area. It seemed clear that it was jammed in there to accommodate the Mother’s Day crowd. The music was blaring at a deafening volume level. We asked twice to have the music turn down, but could barely notice any difference. It’s Mother’s Day! Families want to sit at their table and talk with one another. Why would you see a need to have any music whatsoever that competes with a family’s ability to speak with one another on a very special day?
I’ve been to Cinquecento a few times, and every time I am disappointed with the service. The wait staff in general is unfriendly and inattentive.
Was not busy but service was painfully slow. Items missing from dishes, dirty plates.
Ravioli was way too salty
The food is always delicious and presented so well. The staff is professional, friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is terrific! A very fun vibe!
Amazing - perfect experience for an intimate and fancy meal. xo
I've been to Cinquecento several times recently and I usually give 5 stars. This time around though I felt like the food was not as good as usual.
Great food but slow service much too noisy at 8pm on first Friday
Food was great, however it took over standard time to be delivered
They put up with me and my friends for nearly five hours for my birthday!
They advertised breakfast for $11.99.
When we ordered they professed ignorance about this special and said we could only order from their breakfast menu, at a much higher price.
Classic bait and switch operation.
No positive recommendation regarding this restaurant
Best place for brunch in the south end because they have lunch options (the pasta dishes are amazing!) So great if you're like me and don't want breakfast but have to go to brunch with others. :)
Really great food, excellent service, couldn’t ask for more.
Great energetic vibe. Fun atmosphere. Service and food just ok the night we visited. Based on friends recommendations I would try again.
Amazing food. Fresh as it gets. Our server was awesome and polite
This is my second time at Cinquecento and I’ve been favorably impressed both times. The food is great, service terrific, ambiance is cool and trendy and theres parking which is a big deal in that area. Also, for a place that size, the noise levels were not bad at all. I’m sensitive to noise and being able to carry on a conversation is a huge plus that Cinquecento delivers on. I’d highly recommend it!
Cinquecento is an energetic restaurant. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and dinner. I ordered the salmon which was well-prepared but not very interesting. My husband ordered spaghetti with lobster which was lackluster. The spaghetti sauce was not great and the lobster was overcooked.
Excellent meal with phenomenal drinks and appetizers. We started with the cured meats and cheese plate I highly recommend that. Dessert very solid as well
Great local restaurant in the Southend with a lot of space.
Wonderful meal. Food was fantastic. Service excellent. I really enjoyed the two apps, burrata and bruschetta. The carbonara was excellent. My friend got the sausage pasta with cognac sauce and it was delicious. Will definitely go back. Oh and the atmosphere is gorgeous.
In a city known for Italian restaurants, this one stands out. Cinquecento is a beautiful restaurant. The hosts are warm and welcoming. The wait staff equally personable and knowledgeable of the cuisine and bar menu.
The food was outstanding. We will return
Slow service, dissapointing food. The bolegnese was the best dish of the lot, but overall the food was underwhelming. We'd definitely choose to eat elsewhere.
We like this restaurant very much- the only negative is that it can get noisy.
Great value for lunch. The interior is really nice, it's very accommodating for large groups, and the food was really good. Also really appreciated the service from our waiter. Definitely plan to return!
Food is always great ! Only one thing I got the polenta and eggs were perfect but polenta was cold
Overall we found the meal to be “ok”. The one major disappointment was that the linguini with clams had no real flavor. The tagliatelle bolognese was good and the chianti was very good. The waiter was polite, however seemed to be covering the entire back half of the restaurant alone on a Saturday night...which seems impossible.
Excellent! The food is delicious, the ambiance is lively. If you have Celiac they are extremely good at providing safe meals!
Great meal, and convenient parking right next to the restaurant. We had dinner with friends, left our car to see a show, and came back after for coffee and dessert.
Always looking for good Italian food without having to go into Boston's North End, so decided to try this based on reviews. The big plus is the free parking in the adjacent lot, as long as it's not full. We liked the ambience and the energy. Started with the warm ricotta app and a charcuterie board. Thought the ricotta was bland and the prosciutto was tough. The cheeses were ok but not spectacular. We decided to order 4 pasta dishes so we could sample the different tastes. Our favorite was the bolognese, followed by the fresh tomato sauce pasta. The carbonara was extremely garlicky and not to our liking. The rigatoni with the sausage and cream sauce was good but not great. The pasta itself was delicious and cooked perfectly al dente. Our server made us feel rushed and was not very accommodating. We had wanted to place our orders for apps, pastas, and mains, at different intervals so we could enjoy each course with our wine and decide what to order next. He told us we had to order everything at once because it would be too confusing for the kitchen. The food was not as good as that I've had in the North End, but it was a lot less stressful to get here.
The food, ambiance, and service was excellent!
Wonderful evening out. Food and drinks were fantastic. The only “knock” was the pace of service. Would have enjoyed a bit more relaxed dining experience as the food came out immediately after order and. Appetizers almost beat the drinks. Other than that - highly recommend the food, waitstaff and room. We will be back.
