Cinquecento Roman Trattoria
The Private Dining Room at Cinquecento is a warm and welcoming space that looks out onto one of the most pleasant outdoor dining spaces in the city. Versatile and inviting, the room comes complete with a dedicated staff, a full private bar and is audio-visually compatible for program events.View Private Dining Details
Love this place, but they were not on their game this time. Our waitress looked like she could have cared less about anything. Asked for tea- they didn’t have any. It was brunch!! There were 4 of us so we ordered 4 ricotta fritters- she didn’t bother telling us that each order came with 2 so we had too many. Then when we asked to wrap the remaining fritters they forgot to bring them back to the table until we asked and our waitress blamed it on someone else even though she had the bag with her at the computer. Very odd. Disappointed because this is one of our favorite spots, but don’t think we’ll be rushing back for brunch.
Very impressed with our dinner tonight. Great service, they have a lot of staff and are well trained. A watchful eye is kept on the table from management, bussers, waitstaff. Dishes cleared properly, utensils replaced when used. The private parking lot, offered complimentary, is a welcome perk of choosing to dine here... a real luxury. I hope that never changes.
Everyting we ordered... perfectly cooked, served hot, delicious. The charred beef carpaccio, veal saltimboca, pasta bolognese, roast salmon... and panna cotta for dessert.
Our waitress, Natalia, was awesome.
Love it here!
The food and atmosphere was AMAZING. I can’t recommend this place enough and will most def be coming back. Also they provide parking tickets which is INCREDIBLE
Past visits have been wonderful and we especially love the patio dining. Maybe we hit a bad night because the service was poor. Two out of the 4 entrees were average. We spoke to the manager and hope that our next visit will be more enjoyable since this is usually a neighborhood favorite.
This use to be one of our favorite restaurant but the food has become so so , service has declined and night manager appears indifferent. We will not be back .
Really great food. The bread, burrata, and polenta were amazing. My only problem was that it smelled like paint when we walked in, but it did seem to go away. Our server was okay in the beginning, but improved as our marathon meal progressed. Nice wine list, would have liked more choices for bubbly. The bolognese sauce was a highlight as well. Definitely worth a visit!
Overall a nice atmosphere and friendly service. We had fettuccine with mushrooms that was very underwhelming. But others had delicious risotto and other friend had the branding that was first rate- crispy skin yet moist flesh. Our appetizers of artichokes and peach burrata were very average. The baratta did not ooze cream at all and peaches had sweet balsamic reduction that we did not care for
Well done meal at reasonable prices. The service was stellar. The amari list was great.
Cheese board flames! The octopus is 🔥! Drinks wavy
Cinquecento is always so good. I especially want to call out the staff. This was our 3rd time there, and as always our server was friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable, and warm. We've been helped by a different person on each of our visits, and each has been great. I wish I could remember the names of each of them to thank them personally! Then of course the food is terrific too, as are the cocktails. Very nice wine list as well, with a fine selection and reasonable prices. We've dined outside on the patio which is beautiful, but the dining room, where we sat on this last visit, is very handsome too. Just a terrific place, and we will be back!
I was taken there for my birthday. I didn’t want to make a big deal, but the artichoke hearts were terrible. When I mentioned it, all I got was a polite “I’m sorry”. Not fun for dinner...the waiter seemed to get slammed with too many tables, too quickly. Still, would like to try their brunch.
My favorite brunch place. Go early (10AM) on a Sunday and have the place to ur self. Then visit the SOWA market next door. Menu offers the usual breakfast items and some new ones plus assorted pastries.
There’s a charming outdoor space that’s pleasant when the weather is warm enough.
Inside or out, you will be well pleased.
lovely food, great staff! been meaning to come for a while, was not disappointed.
Very disappointed with food quality and portion size
Music way too loud for a Sunday brunch. Ugh. How about some light jazz/standards?
Attention: Prix fixe menu only available until 11:00.
Chatty Cathy waitstaff a bit over the top. Did bring us all we requested however.
Pepper mill on tables? Would be nice and save waitstaff the extra trip.
Enjoyed evening dinner for two more than the brunch. Would go for that again.
Wonderful outdoor space, weather cooperate, server was attentive, food and drinks yummy.
Gorgeous outdoor patio. Unique decor. Excellent food. A treat in Boston.
Really nice dining experience. It felt like Italy on the outdoor patio with creative lighting around. Food and drinks were great as well.
excellent food and service. A bit noisy and crowded but we asked for a corner table and got it and after that it was perfect. The outside patio was gorgeous, though we ate inside. totally worth it. pasta was great and everything was fresh.
Ended up here since there was no place for eight people in the place we wanted near by. We were pleasantly surprised. Food was nice, service great, plates a little small but well priced. Will recommend and come again.
It was my birthday dinner - and my second year doing it at Cinquecento. I absolutely love the food and service as well as the environment! The wine was flowing and I loved my bday dessert!
Main course took forever. Meal was average. Pasta that came with special was bland, boring, cheeseless. Sunday special was simply dull and mediocre. Beef was unevenly cooked and tough. Good salads. Over all a disappointing meal.
The food was scrumptious. Top notch. The service is a little slow. We didn’t order our entree until after we ate our appetizer. It seemed like the waiter forgot. I don’t mind dining at a slow pace but the menus are big and heavy and taking up space on the table. Finally we moved them to a bench and then had to call the waiter to take our order. But he was very nice.
Food and atmosphere were amazing! Hidden gem in the South End!
We went for Sunday lunch and we had a great experience.
The food was delicious and they have a great wine list. Willy was our waiter and he was fabulous, super friendly and very informative. We were not disappointed!
Server was both extremely attentive and pleasant. Food was delicious. Interior design and patio area are quite lovely. Prix fixe brunch menu is a good value.
We went for our very first visit to Cinquecento during Restaurant Week/Dine Out Boston and the special promotion did exactly what it should do: introduce us to a new favorite at a lower price point for the night. We had scrolled through the various offerings by Boston restaurants, and Cinquecento’s Restaurant Week offerings stood out for their creativity.
We were also tremendously impressed with the execution — the appetizers we chose were a very flavorful corn and crab soup and a salad featuring wine roasted peaches, perfectly ripe and juicy. Likewise, the generous swordfish and bavette (flank) steaks accompanied by in season veggies were perfect for summer dining. Another side dish we ordered off the regular menu, polenta with gorgonzola, was plenty for 2 to split, although it was so creamy and appealing, it was hard to share. Dessert – a delicious lemon zucchini cake with crackle crust, and a feather light chocolate panna cotta that was the best version of this Italian pudding that I have ever had.
Service was both professional and relaxed, our waiter knowledgeable about the wine list. The free parking directly adjacent to the restaurant is a rare benefit in the South End.
Another reason to visit -the outdoor patio in it’s own courtyard, away from the street, is elegant and comfortable, surrounded by sculpture, greenery, and flower beds - an oasis in the city. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the interior takes full advantage of the building’s old brick factory architecture, with huge windows at each end of the room overlooking either the streetscape or the beautifully lit courtyard. The result is warmly rustic, a well finished space (no exposed duct work on the ceiling, etc.). I’m sure the finishing helps the acoustics - you can actually hear your dining companions speak!
We wish we’d discovered Cinquecento years ago, and are looking forward to returning very soon ...
Pleasant outdoor space. Curious that server did not give us Restaurant Week menu until we asked. The RW menu was good value.
I LOVE this restaurant - one of my favorite spots in Boston. Service is always great, and and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend!
Always great brunch options. Right next to SOWA market and studios.
An industrial type decor and the outside patio and entrance was charming but stairs to go into the dining area was a bit daunting especially in heels however.
The charcuterie plate was generous and their old fashion specialty cocktail was a nice start to the meal.My daughters ordered pasta dishes which were so flavorful
and my branzino was seared to perfection. The molten chocolate lava cake was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal! I highly recommend this very quaint little find.
This is a nice restaurant to look at and we thought eating in the garden looked wonderful and quiet. Unfortunately, it was a rainy night. The inside was extremely loud with several tables of shouting people. Very shrill! The pasta was delicious but other food not so good and it has a limited menu. The wine list wasn’t very interesting in the medium price range. I actually don’t plan on going back.
Pretty good. Food is nice and service is awesome.
It took us a long time to put in drink orders but we waited one hour to order our food because our waiter just forgot about us. By the time that we paid for our food, we had been there for almost 3 hours and in my opinion, that’s rather slow service. Yes, we were a large group and needed some time in the beginning to catch up but still, no one should have to wait one hour prior to being able to order food. The food, however, was delicious.
The food was excellent. Great service.
As per our request, seated at a quite table.
Outstanding food and service. Will be back!
The service was friendly and efficient. The pasta dish was excellent; the swordfish was a bit thin and dry; in general the taste combinations were thoughtful and worked well. The ambiance was a bit noisy. We were there early and were seated in a corner, so it was not unpleasant (as I have found it to be in another restaurant with the same owners); later, or seated with other diners on all sides, I fear that we would not have enjoyed the evening nearly as much.
Great place, nice menu, good quality ingredients are especially apparent in mushrooms, fish and salad. Good wine list. The service is ok but not as good as the food.
Food was amazing, service was great and the energy and vibe was great especially on a Tuesday night!
Service was awful. The place was not crowded and our entrees took longer an hour. Either our server or the manager lied to use about the holdup repeatedly. Even if there was a kitchen issue, after the first discussion with our server, it still took more than 30 minutes. They had every opportunity to say that our second drinks would be on the house, but they offered nothing. They ruined a nice evening.
