I LOVE this restaurant - one of my favorite spots in Boston. Service is always great, and and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend!
An industrial type decor and the outside patio and entrance was charming but stairs to go into the dining area was a bit daunting especially in heels however.
The charcuterie plate was generous and their old fashion specialty cocktail was a nice start to the meal.My daughters ordered pasta dishes which were so flavorful
and my branzino was seared to perfection. The molten chocolate lava cake was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal! I highly recommend this very quaint little find.
This is a nice restaurant to look at and we thought eating in the garden looked wonderful and quiet. Unfortunately, it was a rainy night. The inside was extremely loud with several tables of shouting people. Very shrill! The pasta was delicious but other food not so good and it has a limited menu. The wine list wasn’t very interesting in the medium price range. I actually don’t plan on going back.
Pretty good. Food is nice and service is awesome.
It took us a long time to put in drink orders but we waited one hour to order our food because our waiter just forgot about us. By the time that we paid for our food, we had been there for almost 3 hours and in my opinion, that’s rather slow service. Yes, we were a large group and needed some time in the beginning to catch up but still, no one should have to wait one hour prior to being able to order food. The food, however, was delicious.
The food was excellent. Great service.
As per our request, seated at a quite table.
Outstanding food and service. Will be back!
The service was friendly and efficient. The pasta dish was excellent; the swordfish was a bit thin and dry; in general the taste combinations were thoughtful and worked well. The ambiance was a bit noisy. We were there early and were seated in a corner, so it was not unpleasant (as I have found it to be in another restaurant with the same owners); later, or seated with other diners on all sides, I fear that we would not have enjoyed the evening nearly as much.
Great place, nice menu, good quality ingredients are especially apparent in mushrooms, fish and salad. Good wine list. The service is ok but not as good as the food.
Food was amazing, service was great and the energy and vibe was great especially on a Tuesday night!
Service was awful. The place was not crowded and our entrees took longer an hour. Either our server or the manager lied to use about the holdup repeatedly. Even if there was a kitchen issue, after the first discussion with our server, it still took more than 30 minutes. They had every opportunity to say that our second drinks would be on the house, but they offered nothing. They ruined a nice evening.
Excellent brunch -- I was worried the restaurant would be too loud based on what I had heard about its popularity. However, the atmosphere was perfect and my friend and I were able to catch-up easily over a long brunch.
The service here was pretty bad, even for sitting on the outdoor patio...we waited about 10 minutes for someone to come over to our table at which point we went over to the hostess stand to ask, so they sent a manager over to fill our water glasses. Service was bad throughout the course of the meal. At one point both glasses of water and 1 of our beverages was sitting empty for another 10 minutes before we saw our waiter again to ask for refills. The pasta dish with the mussels that we ordered was flavorless. Good ambiance and cocktails.
the waitress looked unhappy to be there. she hardly smiled.
the man who served the food, was very friendly.
the food itself was good.
Perfect night to sit outside and enjoy the company of friends and a nice meal!
WE HAD A FABULOUS GIRLS NIGHT OUT AND REQUESTED A TABLE ON THE BEAUTIFUL PATIO. IT WAS A GORGEOUS EVENING THE FOOD AND WINE AND SERVICE WAS AMAZING!
Beautiful alfresco dining in a secluded, verdant courtyard . Quiet. Great food. Really good.
Attentive wait staff.
I keep trying this place because the food is decent and I like the free parking in the south as well as private off street patio. Unfortunately the service is consistently terrible and the food is mediocre to good. Not great. I mean their service is ALWAYS bad no matter who your server is.
This was birthday party. We loved the food by entrees too over an hour. No one checked in with us to let us know it would be 1:20 before we got out food. When we mentioned something to the manager, he said it would be right out and was being plated. It was another 5 minutes.
No one comped any of our food. No one apologized for the delay. And we were polite the whole time....not what you want for a birthday. We ordered a lot of food and drinks.
Food is good but the waiter was inattentive and the manager was rude
Delicious brunch options and our waitress was great and accommodating. My ding on this experience is that one of the women who was clearing tables was incredibly overly aggressive. It was pre-11am so not busy at all, tons of empty tables. I was done eating but my friend was not, so I clearly had my knife and fork in a position that indicated I was still eating so as not to make my friend feel rushed. The female busser came over and tried to take my plate, grabbing it and asking in the same breath “you are done?” and I stopped her and said “No, please leave it.” My friend thanked me for not making her feel rushed.
Unfortunately, my friend was still eating and yet less than ten minutes later the same woman came back and grabbed my plate without asking and took it back. I didn’t even have time to protest, she sniped it from the side and left. It felt like an Easter Egg Hunt and she “won”. It put a damper on the brunch because it just made us feel rushed when we didn’t want to be, and I had specifically told her not to take my plate. And in that ten minutes nothing had changed - the restaurant STILL was not even remotely busy and my friend was still eating. I was annoyed. I just wish the staff was better trained by management that the rule is if people are still eating, you don’t clear other peoples’ plates at the same table (unless they specifically ask you to) as it is improper etiquette. I don’t get this need to “turn the tables” - we are paying to relax, not have our plates “sniped”, especially when IT IS NOT BUSY.
I honestly love this place and the management co but the bussers in particular need better training.
Food was hot and the Bolognese was great. Jason was also delightful and friendly.
It was a beautiful day so the outdoor patio was packed. We came inside to have dinner. It was nice and quiet. We sat a couple tables down from a couple who had net eaten here before. Their food comes out and all I hear is gushing about how great this food is. Over and over. They ended taking some home - even the bread. We chatted afterwards and they were blown away by the food. That’s what you want to see when someone comes here for the first time. They loved it. And that’s why we come here regularly.
Excellent food ... we sampled 3 appetizers and 5 entrees. The bolognese was delicious, veal melted in your mouth., branzino a little dry though. The service by Willie was outstanding in every way. We dined on the patio and it was delightful. We will go back soon and I highly recommend.
The food is delicious especially the polenta with wild mushrooms and eggs. It is amazing! When you sit outdoors on the patio to eat you will feel like you are in Italy! They also have creative drinks.
Great outdoor seating! Wonderfully relaxing leisure lunch with friends.
Lovely food. Servers seemed overwhelmed
Had a great dinner, food was delicious. We highly recommend the bolognese. And the staff was very nice with the kids as well!
Best octopus appetizer, amazing branzino and a delicious bolognese.
The food was delicious. I do like the way they cook their pastas. I was disappointed for the table. Table was not level and kept rocking from one side to the other. Also, they sat us in a corner where one of our chair/seat of the table obstructed the pathway for the table behind us. Waiter always kept asking for permission to access. In a high-end restaurant I do not expect these kind of issues.
Very fun and cool spot. Great food and ambiance. Food is always consistent. Would highly recommend.
Outdoor seating is beautiful.
Great waiter from Italy who enhanced our experience. Very good food and moderate pricing. Best of all free on site parking.
Set out on the patio. Very nice setting. Too few servers working that area. Our table and the tables around us all seemed to be being waited on by the same server. He needed more help.
We selected Cinquecento because it was at the end of our wine tour & they offer free 5-hour parking. It's a good location in SOWA. The high-point was the serving staff. It was shortly after 5 PM on a Saturday; early, not busy-- but picked-up in the next hour. The hostess and servers were very polite, helpful and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable, when asked about vegetarian options. The salads were generous and good. The pasta with crab meat entrée was very good. My Veal Chop with polenta (Saturday special) was OK & perhaps a bit too pricey. The chop was smallish, but well-cooked; the sweetness of the polenta detracted from the veal -- for me. This is probably just a matter of personal taste, but that combo resulted in a very bland dish. They have an extensive menu & we will probably return for more experimentation. Give it a try.
Our server sent out our entrees 5 minutes after our appetizers were on the table. They said they would prepare fresh meals but it was obvious they sent out the same cold ones.
Excellent as always.
always a gem! had a great mean and great service... hope to see you again soon.
Great food; wonderful garden; wait person/Alec was excellent
It’s yesterday s pasta
