Southern food in DC is tough to find
Our server, Khandanker was a delight. He remembered us from drinks the night before. Made us feel welcome. Explained menu items well and checked in with us frequently. Couldn't of been a better night. Food was delicious, presented well and was coursed properly timing wise.
When I arrived at 5:30 for my reservation, dining room was closed and a sign said to go to Lobbibar. I ordered off Cinnabar menu and food came promptly. Manager called, I'm not sure what the mix up was but he came to Lobbibar, apologized that I was inconvenienced (it wasn't a big deal to me), and insisted on buying my dessert.
I have since eaten breakfast and lunch in Cinnabar which is light, comfortable, spacious. Food is good but staff are superb. Kind, attentive and care that you are satisfied.
BTW, if you order for room delivery, they are fast and even the packaging is done with care. Recommended!

This place is a hidden gem. It had delicious food and decor was beautiful. I think because it's in the Hyatt and it was a Friday night that many people are out in the city site seeing. I would definitely go again. The steak was so tender and flavorful. The oysters divine, chicken juicy and brined. We really enjoy our food and it was quiet.
We chose this restaurant for a pre-theater dinner. We ordered the duck and it was prepared perfectly. The service was outstanding.
The service was slow and the restaurant was nowhere near full. They were out of some of the menu items and we didn't find out until we ordered. We didn't get bread until after our entrees arrived. Bread did come with a unique cherry butter that was good. Steak was thin and overcooked, not a $40 steak. Crab cakes were ok, but go to Maryland instead. Recommend this as a convenient option if you are staying in the hotel.
I took my Dad and my husband here for father's day. We had a reservation for 5pm. The restaurant opens for dinner at 5pm and we had the restaurant to ourselves for about 30 minutes. We were seated next to the rails looking over the Atrium and although the Atrium was crowded you did not hear the noise. The server was just OK; however the food was delicious. I definitely will be coming back! The prices were reasonable, although the prices on the menu was higher than the prices online. Overall it was a great Father's day for my dad and husband. I would recommend to family and friends. You do get 2 hours free valet parking . But be aware of the parking attendants, they tried to scam us for money for parking.
My son Issa, best friend Linda, and I visited Cinnabar for their Mother's Day brunch! The service team was warm and very welcoming! Our brunch started with mimosas from the mimosa bar! Juices includes orange, mango, blueberry, cranberry, and pineapple! I think we had one of each! The buffet included an omelette station, beef carving station, hash browns, bacon, chicken sausage, ham, mahi mahi, salad bar, mini waffles, grilled vegetables, and I'm sure a number of other items that I'm leaving off the list but all were delicious! But it didn't end there. The dessert bar was full of single serving treats - and the sugar cookies were to die for! We felt the most responsible thing to do would be to try everything! Salted caramel cookie cups, Nutella mousse, blueberry cheesecake, strawberry short cake, cherry cheesecake, fruit tarts, key lime pie, black cherry chocolate cheesecake! YUMMO! We were then presented with a take away gift that included the cutest brown bag with a seeded heart!We were also given white carnations! The bag included lavender macarons and seeds which I planted in a flower pot the same day! Much love to the team at Cinnabar - we had a wonderful time! We felt genuinely welcomed and cared for!
Food selections were limited but we'll prepared and presented. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Even the manager (we assumed he is one of the manager) comes around and checks up on your experience. Our waiter Hamid is very attentive and all smiles every time he comes and checks on us. He even offered us coffee to go when we settled our bill. Most amazing is when Hamid came back and gave me a mother's day gift. It a goodie bag with a seed heart and French macarons. And my husband was so delighted with the free valet parking it's a treat for him.
A serviceable hotel restaurant in a servicable restaurant. Enough said.

The food is interesting and worth the visit. I had the Caesar Salad with actual anchovies on the side. The Romaine was grilled and just amazing house dressing. For the main dish I had a tomato pasta dish with garlic and cherry tomatoes. Very nice combination.
The special four course valentines menu included excellent quality at a bargain, keeping it simple. Service was slow, not enough wait staff. The upside we were finished with each course before the next was brought. Wait staff was very polite and provided all that we asked. Management should have staffed up for weekend surge Valentine's weekend, Presidents Day Federal holiday, extremely cold weather. Valet parking was a painfully slow experience took over half hour to retrieve car, mass confusion.
We had a wonderful, quiet dinner here. I did not expect that much since it was a hotel restaurant, but the food and service were both outstanding. We will definitely go back.
We came to DC for the Marine Corps Marathon and were staying in the hotel so we thought we would give the special pasta buffet a shot for dinner. As we walked in, everything seemed chaotic which was odd because the restaurant wasn't especially full. After being seated, no one came over to our table for almost 20 minutes and when they did, they poured water and left without a word.
So, we got up and just went to the buffet. The food was very good and everything was fresh and flavorful. There was a good selection of salads and pastas and even dessert.
When we were done, someone immediately brought over a check which we decided to just add to our room bill, thankfully, because after waiting 10 minutes no one came back to get it.
Overall, the food was great and the menu sounded amazing; however, the service was very chaotic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at this wonderful Hyatt Regency Crystal City restaurant. Hamid is an outstanding waiter and he's all about providing outstanding service. Every service need, want and desire was handled with aplomb. Job well done.
I was looking for the ideal place for Mother's Day brunch, without the massive buffet and high price and the Cinnabar was the perfect choice. The size of the buffet was just right, the service was very cordial and efficient, and the price was reasonable.
Service was great. Food was particularly delicious this morning. Everyone on their "A" game for Mother's Day. Overall, job well done.
Limited menu. Nevertheless, had delicious waffle chicken appetizer, which was prepared nicely. Onion soup and Caesar salads tasty, but what was truly outstanding, once again, with this restaurant is the amazing service. Tonight, the unsung hero was Sheyla, who was extremely kind, friendly, professional and a true gem. She made the evening, consistently checking in with us and ensuring our dining experience was truly memorable. Job well done.
The service is the best thing about this Hyatt Regency Crystal City Restaurant. Hamid is incredible, sensational and a real asset to the smooth operation of this establishment. Buffet items were cold - eggs, bacon and sausage. Otherwise, nice assortment of breakfast items. Special kudos for Hamid for a job well done.
The ambience was great and service wonderful. The array of food for Easter Brunch was very limited for the price.
The food was outstanding, everything was tasty and artfully arranged. The best part was the impeccable service. The staff was SUPER attentive and outstanding. Starting with the Valet team, we had stellar encounters from beginning to end. We had a baby with us and, at one point, someone stopped to help my husband choose his dessert so that he could hold the baby with both hands & not juggle a plate. The server was prompt and kind, we felt like we were his only table- even at a busy Easter Brunch. I'm definitely happy with everything, and we will certainly be back.
I went here on a double date valentine's day 2015. They had a special for a prefix menu which included 3 courses and a glass of champagne. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely come here again. The only thing I didn't like was they wouldn't allow us to order anything from the regular menu. We had no choice but to choose between the two items on the prefix menu. Had it not been so limited it wouldn't have been a problem. Also, I didn't find this to be a problem but there's a bit of noise from the hotel lobby and downstairs bar because the restaurant is open and over those areas. Again, didn't bother me though.
Update - I went back another night and was pretty disappointed with the service and the food. Nice selection but the food just want prepared well and our waiter was never around when we needed him.
The restaurant was not busy but our server could have been more available.
We dined here on a quiet weekday for lunch. The food was awesome. Great portions. Will definitely dine again, but hopefully there will be a more lively atmosphere; perhaps we'll try this place in the evening for dinner next.
It's a great pity when a restaurant like Cinnabar which offers good food is undermined by poor service. While everyone in my group said their meals were delicious, we were all also in agreement about the poor service. We were part of a large convention and reports from other attendees confirmed this. No one could determine if the waitstaff was simply overwhelmed or if Cinnabar was understaffed, just that every aspect of dinner took much too long.
If you do dine here, go during off hours or when the place is fairly empty or when you have a lot of free time.
