Cinghiale Ratings and Reviews
We went to Chinghiale for my birthday dinner, as one of the last nights out we expect to have before our second child arrives. It was absolutely wonderful. As we have come to expect with any of the establishments run by Cindy Wolf and Tony Foreman, the food was outstanding, and the service exceptional. We will gladly return again, as this was our first visit, and will recommend it to friends. We both had the 4-course prix fixe menu, and were very full and satisfied with all the variety we were able to have.
What a disppointment, We thought about going there for Valentine's but were given a 5:30 time, so we changed it to the day after, and the restaurant was relatively empty. We used valet parking which was convenient. After we got seated, our waitress asked us if it was our first time at this place, and we told her it was. What a mistake that was, for she took us through the menu as if we werte country bumpkins and had never dined in a restaurant prior to that evening. I had hoped that they would still have some bronzino which I had seen on their Valentine's menu, but they did not, so I decided to go for the buffalo mozzarella as a starter and a New York strip as a main course. There was no olive oil with the salad so I had to ask for some. I had ordered the steak to be medium, not dry and well done and not raw. It was not served on the bone as is the case in my entire prior experience, and the meat was tough and dry and almost inedible. My wife would not allow me to complain so I left a lot of two small round pieces that looked more like tournedos. Then I ordered cheese cake for dessert---this was the only cheese cake in my life I did not like. This is a good restaurant to go to if one wants to start a diet as the food was not all good, the coffee was weak and watery, and the price was too high for such fare. I could not wait to get the check and leave. My wife's food was also unappetizing, and she ordered a main course of scallops that might have satisfied a seven year old girl it was so insubstantial. Well, it is too bad, as we have been looking for new places to add to our regulars and the prices were no off putting, it was just the food. The bread was great, but they never asked if we wanted any more. I would not go back there. The maitre d' or manager who served me my steak said she wanted to make sure I was happy with it----she never returned to see if it was satisfactory.
We came for Valentines Day and weren’t sure what to expect on a day like this. They did a great job of not overbooking and the pre-set menu was excellent. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding!! We are still talking about how good our meals were. This was our second time here and we will definitely be back for a third very soon!
Cinghiale has always been a good eating experience for us. This night was no different. Chris, our waiter, was knowledgeable, attentive, and generous. The food was prepared with panache and served with style--as usual. We especially enjoyed the gnocchi on this occasion.
We had our choice of seating for a late Thursday evening dinner in Cinghiale's enoteca (wine bar). Fun and comfortable atmosphere with warm tones. The perimeter and bar area is surrounded by empty autographed wine bottles marking special occasions and/or a celebration of a good meal. We enjoyed the bread selection with olive oil for dipping; the escarole salad; and a light and tasty squid ink spaghetti served with grilled calamari, razor clams, and just the right amount of lemon zest. My daughter loved the scallops with braised artichokes, and carrot puree. Excellent wine selection. Our meals were backed up due to a large party, however I was comped with a delicious white wine.
When in Baltimore and looking for great Italian food Cinghiale is top of the pyramid!
Started with my date an I each consuming to expertly crafted very dry vodka martinis at the bar. The bar features ornate wood carvings, marble top and superb bar tenders. Our entrees were perfect and I particularly enjoyed the cod fish with polenta. Soup of the day, mushroom, was warm and filling and salad, crisp and expertly dressed. Our waitress was responsive but never had to be beckoned for the next course. She was aware of our style of dining and was timely with each course. Cinghiale is lively and spacious but not noisy and boring. Truly a gem in Charm City!
Second time at this restaurant, this time in the wine bar. The waiter was nice but a little disorganized - had to ask 2 or 3 times for something. Perhaps he was new. Despite that, he was very professional. Food was lovely and the restaurant simply has a great vibe.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The service was amazing and the general feel to the restaurant is very pleasing. The lighting level is perfect and the tables are spaced so you feel that you have your own space and you can have a conversation with your own party. I will definitely be returning!
In the past, this was one of our favorite restaurants in Baltimore. I am sorry to say that the food was not as good as our previous experiences. The service from the moment we walked in the door was awful. They seemed disorganized and overwhelm the entire night. Worst of all, they were not even particularly busy for a Saturday evening. My wife waited 30 minutes for her cocktail!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening out, even the friend who confided before the meal that she's not a big fan of Italian cuisine in general. I tried to explain that this isn't the kind of pasta and red sauce place she was thinking of, and she said afterward that she loved the meal. Wonderful food, great ambiance, and good service.
Our dinner was no less than outstanding. Bronzino is one of my favorite fish and was perfectly filleted and cooked. Accompanied by a light blood orange and fennel pistachio pesto lemon butter it may well be it is the best I have eaten. Our waitress Jimi was perfect; professional friendly but not overly chatty and most helpful in guiding our selections as she was asked. Both the service and the food make us look forward to a return visit.
My husband and I were extremely disappointed with our experience at Cinghiale. The food was just OK for the price. The service was EXCEEDINGLY poor. It was difficult to get our waitress' attention to order a drink or our dinner. I would not recommend to a friend and will not go back.
This was our first time at Cinghiale and it was great. The service was very good as was every dish we tried. We tried the grilled calamari and it was delicious. I think I could eat it everyday. My husband ordered the Prosciutto wrapped Chicken and I ordered the roasted pork lion , we each got the wine suggestions from the menu with each dish, and both dishes were delicious. Our server Jasmine was very good as was the server that fills the water glasses, I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. It was Restaurant week so it was probably more crowded and noisier than normal. We will definitely try it again soon.
We went to participate in Baltimore Winter 2018 Restaurant Week and enjoyed ourselves. The service was prompt and professional and that ambiance pleasant. We had requested to dine in the Enoteca as we had not before. We enjoyed it though we felt as though we were stuck off in a corner a bit but since this was a date with my wife we were not terribly disappointed. All in all we have been many times and will go back for the occasional special events.
Service was excellent - attentive, but not rushed. Matt answered all our questions, made excellent food and wine recommendations, and paced the meal exactly how we wanted it. Food was exceptional. We kept thinking the next dish couldn’t possibly be as good as the last, but everything we tried was delicious - the lamb tortellini, the trout, the ricotta cheesecake - all perfect! Portion size was just right for us, enough, but not too much. We will definitely eat here again, the next time we’re in Baltimore!
