Cinghiale Ratings and Reviews
We came for my sons 14th birthday. The food and service were fantastic. The gnocchi was spectacular and the strip loin was delicious. My sons dessert came with a candle and they also presented a plate of cookies that was especially nice. Overall an awesome experience. Thank you.
Service was a 10 from the minute our group of 7 walked in the door. We started with the Chef's selection plate and Antipasta Misti plater. Some had small pasta dishes with Entrees while others had the full portion pasta - no one left hungry. Every bite was perfect: the gnocchi, Casunsei, duck and Cinghiale strip were stand outs!
Great meal....again. I’ve dined at Cinghiale regularly since the week they opened and I’ve never been disappointed. Tonight I had a perfectly prepared simple dish of fresh pasta, butter and perfectly prepared shrimp. Dessert was lovely Italian cookies. Service was excellent. Great meal....again.
My all-time fave Italian restaurant in the city! It never disappoints; worth the drive from the county. Terrific food/service and great for people watching--mixed ages and lively clientele. Love, love, love their food. Far & away delightful place to dine; so much better than Balto.'s 'little Italy' offerings!
Birthday dinner. The food was outstanding. We had the prix fix, which at $62 was a bargain for this kind of dining: the quality of the food, the quantity and the service level. While these were allegedly ''small portions', they were just fine, at least for me. Salads were terrific - it was difficult to choose which one to order and they did not disappoint. On the server's recommendation, I had a "lasagna'' which other than being layered with thin terrific pasta, bore no resemblance to what most people think of with lasagna. It was sensational. I had rockfish (Maryland-ese for striped sea bass) - perfectly prepared. My wife had the short rib - fall off the bone delicious. Finished with shared sorbets - all wonderful and I am an ice cream/sorbet snob. This would have been 5's all around except for a few minor quibbles. There was one food miss, the Broccoli Mascarpone soup way too salty and uninteresting . The server had recommended the butternut squash soup and we should have taken her recommendation . Service was impeccable to start, but as the evening went on (and the restaurant was hopping) it slowed a bit too much. Out of town visitors - this is a treat.
It was our 27th wedding anniversary. We love Cinghale for no occasion but even more for a special. The service was A+. The server was so helpful and friendly and lovely. Everyone was wonderful and gracious. Our food selections were absolutely delectable! For years this has been a favorite spot of ours! Not just for special events. Just for Tuesday! Any time.
Had no preconceived ideas about this restaurant, but wanted to try a new restaurant that was a step up from everyday Italian. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant and were delighted with the warm welcome we got when we arrived. They were aware that we were there for a special occasion. The menu was a bit difficult to understand, but our server, Allessandro offered an explanation of each dish about which we had questions...the same for the wine. He was outstanding in every way!! The food was excellent with a beautiful presentation. The service was wonderful. We look forward to dining there again .
Well my wife and I really want to love this place. We try Cinghiale just about every year and this may in fact be our last.
We love the idea - a North Italian brasserie with an extensive wine list; the setting can’t be beat; and the physical restaurant is beautiful.
Our seating was great and comfortable.
Th service is simply outstanding.
The menu was varied and described in detail by what seemed the most knowledgeable server I’ve had in years.
So what’s the problem? There are two.
1) the food
For whatever reason the food does not correspond at all to the deliciousness of how it sounds on the the menu. While sauces and flavors are mentioned, they don’t translate onto the plate, or are there as whispers and droplets and reductions or tiny smears on the side or buried under the pasta, main course whatever.
Our pasta was warm and clumpy on cool plates, and no sauce or oil was there to keep it alive. Mine was good anyway my wife’s was a sad gray mass with sparse mushrooms meat in it.
I had the “special whole rabbit” as a main, and boy was I excited. What arrived was totally unacceptable and so depressing: my whole rabbit had been turned into a large rather dry sausage and cut into 4 slices, served over some forgettable polenta-like purée! While our server had mentioned I would not be getting the actual whole rabbit in one piece, she did NOT mention that it would be pressed and condensed into 4 dry pellets. Again, what a shame.
2) it’s always freezing cold in this place. A lady next to us had her wool coat on the whole meal. I had to zip up my wool 1/4 zip all the way, ugh... and there are huge windows and vents near them to blow cold air on you during the meal. Just be prepared for that if you decide to come. We won’t be back anymore, sadly.
Cinghiale should be on everyone’s list for a great bar and dinner spot. The bar is beautiful, the wine list full of interest, and the food has become spectacular. Rockfish crudo was delicate and brightly fresh; pumpkin mezzaluna was rich without heaviness and swordfish was just perfect. Definitely a gem.
The server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The house made bread was to die for and the small plates were also incredible. Unfortunately, we found our entrees to be just okay. The food may be a little overpriced, but we were pleasantly surprised with the wine prices.
Excellent meal and service. I could have eaten anything on the menu—very hard to decide! 5 stars for food and wait staff.
Wine and mixed drink prices were overpriced for oz. Way too much mixer in mixed drink. Felt cheated there.
The main dining room was too dark, we needed a flashlight to read the menu and we noticed other tables doing the same.
Cinghiale has to be the best restaurant in Baltimore!
In every dining experience we've had, the food is exceptional and creative, with a fine Italian undertone.
The wait staff is attentive yet unimposing. The bar staff knows how to make a good Negroni as well!
I was prepared to be wowed, based on first appearances. Having arrived early and right as they opened at 5:30pm, the opportunity to look around was welcomed. The charcuterie prep area, near the reception desk, was very inviting and I enjoyed listening to the review and education given the wait staff. I had the Rhode Island Rockfish, and it had little to no flavor - I had to salt it at the table (salt not on the table, had to be requested). Presentation was really nice, just no flavor. Based on what I saw walking in, for the first time (ever) I ordered a dessert wine and a three-cheese assortment for dessert. I specifically said I liked hard, strong cheese and to have the chef (?) choose for me. All three were good, but milder and semi-soft choices. To be clear, the overall meal was good, but I was expecting more based on the decor, ambiance and prices. There are a lot of choices in this Harbor East area; as an out-of-town business traveler I myself am unlikely to return.
We just had dinner there for our Anniversary. We have been to Charleston a few times and loved it so we wanted to try the other Cindy Wolf/Tony Foreman restaurant. The food was great, the service exceptional, and the wine list was one of the best we have ever seen. We will most definitely go back as soon as possible.
My absolute favorite in Baltimore
First class. Knowledgable wait staff
Sommelier present and fabulous
Ask for wine pairing with courses, they pick amazing ones you might not know exist . Broaden your pallet.
Charcuterie, fois gras, duck and lamb all freaking delicious and the service never wanting
Ty for a fab evening
I went to Cinghaile for my birthday and it was such a great experience. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. I opted for the 4 course menu with wine pairings and my fantastic waitress helped me choose from the many amazing-sounding options on the menu. I loved everything about my experience and hope to make this a new birthday tradition!
I was there to surprise my boyfriend with a one year anniversary dinner date. Every course was wonderful, even when it was something I would not normally order or try. I love Italian food and this place was perfect. And server was very knowledgeable of drink and food menu! Very helpful! We will be back.
We dined to celebrate my birthday and the meal was outstanding. The charcuterie was superior, the calamari is such a unique preparation that I must have each time we are there, and the pastas, chitarra with shrimp and gnocchi with ragu, were just plain out of this world. I was honored with a candle in our dessert and made to feel welcome. It was a splendid evening all around.
Amazing date night on the patio. We went with our dogs, and they must love fine dining because they were perfectly behaved.
The date night menu was perfect for us, and we enjoyed two $25 wine selections. Our server was kind and knowledgeable.
Overall a true win.
