Cinara is a great place for a really good meal in a room with great ambience and first-class service. The food is exceptionally well prepared.
Everything was fantastic about the meal and experience except for the ventilation. The kitchen smells/smoke permeated the restaurant and our clothes. In fact there were moments when the air was smoky. We were thankful to be seated beside an open door.
Great food and good service, with creative food options and excellent value. But the noise level was so high we could not hear one another. A creative solution is needed
Outstanding experience - every time! Service is exceptional and food always unique!
Always welcoming and helpful, service is always great and food was spectacular
Amazing meal from start to finish. I highly recommend trying the Pork Neck and the Agnolotti.
We love Cinara -- fabulous food and friendly but not obsequious service, lovely atmosphere. But the wine prices -- yikes!!!
Loved the food it was outstandingly delicious. Dont care for the round tables that much, would be difficult ( too small) for 3..Servers had good knowledge of the dishes and the wines by the glass
An absolutely beautiful evening. Stellar service and thoughtfully created food. Loved the 6 course tasting menu. Looking forward to our return!
We were looking for a good Italian meal at a moderate price when visiting Vancouver, Canada. We were welcomed, including my guide dog.
Fantastic as always! Third time there in the last month.
We had an excellent evening. Wonderful food - so fresh and creative. The pork neck tonnato was divine as was the baccala on crostini, freshest asparagus and the bistecca fiorentino with delicious contorni shared by the 4 of us (loved the grilled cabbage dish!). Knowledgeable and amusingly friendly service that played well to our foursome. We'll be back!
I felt the portions were extremely small, the service was good and the room lovely, however I would not hurry back.
We had a wonderful dining experience thanks to Scott.
Phenomenal food, great service and a very warm and cozy atmosphere. One of Vancouver's hidden gems.
Fantastic food - authentic Italian, amazing flavours. Clearly created by an expert chef. Service top notch as well. Highly recommend to all!
Wonderful server who was accommodating and had great recommendations. The food quality and presentation were excellent!
Great staff...simple as that.
Great food and service
Delicious food in a hip downtown atmosphere. Conveniently located near the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for a pre show meal.
Service was friendly, attentive and ready with knowledge about the menu and advice about what to order. Food was delicious, everything was presented really well. The restaurant is cool, nice atmosphere and we found it perfect for a meal before heading to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre which is just a short walk away. All 6 of us said we would recommend and would visit again!
Nice room, great people watching, server was fantastic and the food was delish! The side stripe shrimp risotto was SO SO SO good. Plate presentation was lovely, everything well executed and perfectly seasoned. thinking of an excuse to head downtown for dinner again soon! Lots of hard surfaces so it does get quite noisy..... better out with friends then on a romantic night!
Great room, great vibe and great food - already told my pals to add to their lists
We have eaten at Cinara many times since it first opened. Two weeks ago, we ate at Autostrada for the first time and enjoyed it very much. Based on that good experience and good memories of Cinara, we decided to return to Cinara to celebrate a birthday. We made the reservation through Open Table, specifically mentioning that we were celebrating a birthday. We arrived to find the restaurant rather busy and were offered a table away from the draughty entrance.
So far, so good. We were presented with menus and a wine list and brought sparkling water , as we requested. Then, the waiter offered to explain the entire menu to us. We explained that wasn't necessary as we had encountered most of the dishes before. We did order a bottle of wine, which was brought to the table promptly. Unfortunately, the wine was corked. Knowing that a corked bottle is not the restaurant's fault, we ordered a second bottle of the same wine: it was perfect. The waiter then attempted once again to explain the menu to us. We again responded that it wasn't necessary and ordered. The first courses came out in good time. The baccala was irreproachable. The snails however were gritty and not hot enough. As we were celebrating, we didn't make a fuss and anticipated better things with the next dishes, the risotto and the tagliatelle. The risotto was very flavourful and a good portion. The tagliatelle was disappointing. I would have preferred an egg noodle and a more generous serving of reggiano. We next had a cheese course that was generous and served at just the right temperature. For dessert we had a very tasty salted caramel tart. We finished with espresso, paid and said good night. At no point, did anyone enquiry about the birthday we were celebrating. What is the point if a restaurant asks for that information through Open Table and doesn't act on it? We will return to Autostrada but it will be some time before we go back to Cinara.
Excellent service, informed and attentive. Creative, well prepared and well presented dishes.
Trendy spot with a good energy. Our server was very good and there were some creative and interesting options on the menu. The chicken liver appetizer was outstanding however some of our other choices did not work as well for us.
The wine list is somewhat limited but adequate.
-I always pass by while walking through the city and was curious but never really taken the time to go inside and see what the scene was like inside.
-Love how you can smell the scent of something really good cooking up while around West Pender.
-Looking for where to head to next, give this place a shot! You won't be disappointed.
-Menu changes daily like their sister restaurants.
-Interiors are rustic yet contemporary in design
My favorite Restaurant in Vancouver- never disappoints!!!
Cinara mixed up our online reservation, so we had to wait for our table, but the staff handled it VERY well - they seated our party of 4 at the bar with complimentary appetizers & bubbly for all. The wait was about 30minutes, but given the treatment, we did not feel hugely inconvenienced. We were quite happy with the food and the service was very good as well. Our only 'complaint' is that it was SO loud in the restaurant and we found ourselves yelling at times and not always hearing the person sitting right next to us! We asked for the music to be turned down and it was done right away. We understand that the restaurant was at full capacity, and not very large, so it was bound to be noisy. We just didn't expect it to be THAT noisy! Don't think it would deter us from returning though as the food was very tasty!
Excellent menu, compact but delicious cocktails and an excellent recommendation for a wine paired with the Agnolotti. Nice room, excellent ambiance. The only negative we noticed was that our clothes smelled like food when we left. It is an older building so I am sure that the restaurant struggles with adequate venting.
Absolutely delicious pasta with one of the best rose wines I have had! Will definitely go again.
Had the 6 course meal. The escargot soup was fantastic, fish course was done just right although we didn't care for the sour sauce, pasta was really tasty! Wish there were less sour courses but we don't really like sour food to begin with.
Really great service and nice atmosphere.
Cinara was incredible - the food was amazing, especially their starters and pasta. Their service was so warm and friendly. We were absolutely blown away, thanks for a great dinner!
The food was very good . We shared a braised cabbage dish for starters, and had the roast duck breast with duck confit and leeks for the main course. The sauce was excellent. For dessert we had the lemon curd and the salted caramel tart--both carefully prepared. Portions are quite small. the restaurant is not too noisy. They actually turned the music down as the volume of people talking increased.
We took friends there for their anniversary. We were greeted with a complimentary celebratory glass of sparkling. The service was gracious, friendly and attentive. The food amazing. Our friends were completely awed and felt very spoiled. Cinara is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver and it never fails to exceed expectations.
Decent food but portions WAY too small. Especially for the price you pay. $25 for vegetarian pasta that leaves you hungry?? Yikes. Main server was knowledgeable and kept refilling our water, which was nice. Asked about floating server or manager (whoever she was) for pepper and she acted insulted and unfriendly when she dropped it off. I expect - and you can get - better service for this price.
They do an amazing job with the food. Creative, innovative and amazingly good.
Food cold ,Fish under cooked , Too salty. Service is not too bad,
