Cimo Mediterranean Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were very excited to return to Cimos for our favorites, angel hair pasta and spicy chorizo penne. The hosted seated us in a small sitting area with 2 small tables for 2. My bench seat was located in a specific area where one portion ended and another started so I was sitting on a crack the entire time. The edges of the crack were very sharp on the legs even through my leggings which was uncomfortable so I sat on my coat.
We ordered the calamari to start which was good and the sauces were delicious however, the calamari itself needed more flavour.
My angel hair pasta was quite dry with not a lot of flavour. I had ordered chicken as an addition with my dish. For an upcharge of $6.50 i anticipated a full breast (perhaps my fault for not asking). When the dish arrived it looked like there was a small can of flaked tuna mixed in with the angel hair pasta. Not a great value, would not recommend this addition.
My husband's spicy chorizo penne was delicious, piping hot, saucy and very flavorful.
We finished our meal off with creme brulè. Matcha was the flavour of the day. It was good however, the perceived value for $7.50 was a bit of a miss. The container was the size of a hockey puck which was enough for a taste each for my husband and I.
Overall the service was good. Our server was friendly and quick. The food was not as good as I remembered it and the perceived value could have been better.
Generally we have enjoyed going to Cimo's but didn't so much this time. Even though it wasn't busy, the noise level was uncomfortable. The food was ok, but a bit too salty. Two entrees, an appetizer, a beer and a tip was 80 bucks which is getting to the price point for an "OK" meal. Service was fine, and staff were welcoming.
We had difficulty getting what we ordered, half the pasta with all the sauce. Had no idea how difficult our simple request was for the chef or management. We were grateful to get our dishes, as desired. The initial rejection dulled the joy of our special luncheon. I thought our young host managed the awkwardness well. Your food is great. We loved the private intimate area we were able to nestle in. Cheers
The biggest disappointment was they did not have our reservation!! A bit embrassing. Had to sit at bar for twenty minutes while they figured things out. Open Table confirmed reservation and send to restaurant but because of poor internet service didn’t register.
Maybe they should not take internet reservations until internet is improved. Apparently if you check by kitchen it works vs at check in.
That was the biggest problem. Once finally settled- It was a great evening and meal. Service was good.
This was a date night for my wife and I, we're pretty busy and don't go out much. The service, food and overall feel was ok, but where we were seated was ridiculous. To be honest, my first thought when I saw where we were seated was " You gotta be friggin kidding me". We were seated at a table just big enough for two, which was fine, but it was directly next to another table for two, close enough that we could hear the other people chew. They have an area with partitions that looks like it's the perfect size for a private 4 person table, except they squish two separate tables into this partitioned area. My wife and I came into town, spent decent money and tried to have a nice night out only to go on a date with two strangers, and we ruined their date night just as much, I imagine. We weren't able to have a private conversation, share any real laughs or really enjoy ourselves at all because we were so uncomfortably close to these other people. It just blows me away that any restaurant would even consider seating two different couples so close to each other, I expect that sort of thing from mcdonalds. Not impressed.
The waitress we had was not interested in us at all. She was more interested in the table full of guys (I guess for a tip). When we asked for the bill, she grabbed it, tossed it on our table while she was walking passed, did not say a word to us. Our food was awesome, my boyfriend is a second generation immigrant from Italy and was able to pick out more faults, like too much garlic. Besides that the food was good, and the atmosphere was wonderul. Just wish the waitress hadn't given a rude unwanted vibe.
Went with my 14 year old son, for a mother and son date, he specifically requested Cimo's because he loves their chicken fingers and fries. Its nice that they accomodate kids/picky teenagers, and with plenty of higher end choices for adults! The service was top notch, couldn't have asked for better. The food is excellent and overall a great local place to eat for anyone!
Our group enjoyed the food and general ambience of the restaurant and the service we received was not intrusive. I do wish wait people would not ask if one is "still working on that".Eating food is not a job. When I lay my fork down and sit back it generally means I am ready to be asked if the wait person may take my plate.
Have enjoyed Cimo pasta plates in the past and saw a 'pasta night' advertisement on Facebook. Booked a reservation and arrived 5 min early. Front of house hostess seated us promptly and would arrange water for the table. Service was pretty much downhill from there. Our table had at least 5 different servers and while the water was topped up regularly when it eventually arrived, there was no additional inquiry after our initial drinks were served. There didn't seem to be enough servers on a very busy night and/or service was not well organized. Tables next to us were NOT happy either and were hosting out-of-town guests.
On the upside: appies and mains were very tasty (deep fried risotto balls and bruschetta with goat cheese and balsamic reduction to start and spaghetti carbonara as mains). Did not stay for dessert or coffees, though offered by 5th (or 6th?) server.
Recommendation: good pasta dishes - go on a non-promo night and make an early reservation
Pretty nice place to eat, first time dining here in the ten years we lived here, not a big pasta fan but we had an Italian friend come into town so decided he should be the judge. I had the pasta special at the waitresses recommendation, chipotle rose sauce, very good but very spicy, any spicier and it really would have ruined the dish. But for not a pasta fan the spaghetti was good. The waitress took forever to bring the bill, 40 mins, it wasn't busy at all for a Friday night so you definitely did not feel rushed leaving, so that can go both ways, I had a long day and wanted to get out but if your there for a relaxing time and not pushed out the door good to go!
I went here with my husband over a year ago as we are only in Prince George about once per year. We absolutely loved our experience last time (so please keep that in mind with this review) so we were super excited to go back. The pasta is fresh which is great, the food was good - we had bruschetta for an appetizer and the Arabiatta pasta and the seafood ravioli. The food was good but I can't feel as good about the value for money as last time.
The staff were friendly, but we must have had 4 or 5 people come by for different things so I don't feel we built a relationship with anyone. The server gave both my partner and I some wine to taste for corking which was strange. We never had anyone come by to charge our glasses from the bottle we bought (which we don't mind in a cheaper restaurant, but expected it here as this is the service we received last time ).
The table next to us order a full 15 minutes after us but got their meals long before us, my partner's meal was delicious but not nearly as hot as it should have been because his food arrived almost 10 minutes before mine so he waited until we both had food to start eating. We were never checked on although we could see it was slow and there were many people on staff and chatting. Again, friendly and nice staff - just not the level of service or gratitude for our patronage that we would expect at this price point.
I recommend for the food, and I hope you don't experience an 'off' night as we did.
