Wish the OpenTable software had alerted us that this restaurant was closed. Fortunately we discovered this through other means and we're able to make alternative arrangements.
I would definitely recommend but, alas, now they are closed forever :(
As a most beloved and favorite dining spot that led the way in our city, thank you for such elegant ambience, lovely, creative dishes and superb wine choices over the years....
So sad to be losing this Calgary treasure.. goodby Cilantros and thank you for so many years of amazing food!
Upon arriving for our reservation, the staff seemed surprised to see us and proceeded to figure out where they could seat a table for 6. They ended up pulling a couple of tables together by the door, but it really felt like they had not planned in advance. Food and service were alright, but didn’t really live up to the reviews.
We had a wonderful evening and are so sorry that this great Calgary establishment will be closing. Thank you for all of the great meals over the years.
Dustin Miller is amazing and makes we want to live a better life.
Great restaurant, even sitting at the bar, sad to see it go.
Sorry to hear that this lovely restaurant will be closing soon. Great experience.
I had a very tasty pasta dish, except for the scallops, they were firm and lacking in taste, my partner had a different pasta dish, her scallops had the same problem. Our friend enjoyed his steak, although the sides were very small portions. The service was good, staff were polite, the outdoor courtyard seating was comfortable, lots of traffic noise though.
Sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The server was excellent and personable!
We lived the lasagna!!
Fantastic food service and space. The pizza oven baked flatbread was spectacular!
Appetizers and fish main course were very good, pizzas and breads not good, expected more from food bake in a firewood oven...
It was a grand experience to be eating at your Restaurant and I have been a royal customer for years. I celebrated my 40th. Birthday at Cilantro's when I moved back to Calgary 30 years ago!! Thank you for being one of the best places to eat in Calgary. The food has always been just delicious and I and my friends are going to miss you.
Thank you for your Service!
52 & 4 year Anniversaries
I have been dining at Cilantro for more than 20 years. It's always been our go-to place for special dinners. It simply breaks my heart that it's closing soon!
I just moved here from Toronto and I thoroughly enjoy going out and trying new food and have hit most of the recommenced places in Calgary but by far this is my Favourite place in Calgary. I’m gutted that this place is closing down. The staff will know me by the time they close, there’s no doubt about it
Cilantro has been my favourite restaurant for many years, and after hearing at was closing we decided we should go one last time. In the past the service and food have been top notch. Our last visit wasn’t great. The service was very slow - server seemed very overwhelmed. The charcuterie board was lacking and the girl that brought it to us didn’t even know what meats were on it. They were out of the mussels, which is the past have been our absolute favourite. The mains didn’t come with the sides that were on the menu. My filet mignon was to be medium rare, it was definitely blue rare. After we received our dessert menus, it took a long time for the server to come back, so we skipped dessert and got the bill. I was hoping our last visit the Cilantro would be a memorable one, but now I’m just not very sad that it’s closing as it wasn’t a great experience. RIP Cilantro.
As I am struggling with a medical situation which has made dining out a constant challenge, I approached last Friday evening with some trepidation. However, I very much wanted to experience Cilantro once more before its doors close for the last time, and both because of my having learned to better manage my own circumstances and the quality of the cuisine at Cilantro, the evening was a great success, meeting our expectations in every way. The mushroom bisque was superb and the mussels were delicious although the cream sauce was somewhat salty. My companion's Arctic char was generously proportioned and provided ample amounts for the following day.
There is no restaurant in Calgary with Cilantro's ambience, and it is indeed a very sad day for the dining out scene in Calgary that Cilantro is nearing the end of its run. The physical space is unique and will never be replicated. The service has always been exemplary, and the quality of its cuisine predictably reliable.
Very sad to see this gem go, sometime late September? Will try to go often, until then. Our waiter was terrific
Love the food always. The patio is the nicest place to sit in the Beltline. Service was professional and personable.
So sorry to hear Cilantro will close in September. My wife and I really hope you reopen in a new location because it has been her favourite place for many, many years.
Thank you, Erin and Maura
It was a perfect birthday dinner
Lovely location, delicious food, attentive server. We had a really memorable get-together - thanks, Cilantro!
Cilantro has been a perennial favourite for many years. I love the courtyard best with its festive ambience. Alas it was too cold to sit out but our inside table was great too. Wine list is extensive with an excellent range of options. We both had the seafood pasta which was very flavourful if a little light on the seafood. Sorry to see them close in September but wish them well.
Thanks Chef, for the appetizer! This is our favorite “go to” restaurant...especially for birthdays. Consistently excellent food and service...we will miss you (and the wonderful romantic patio). Rita and Maxwell Lawrence
They are closing in September! Go visit this gem before it closes.
Will miss it when it’s gone!
We came in for a final send off since cilantro is closing. The food and wine was delicious however our service was sub par at best. Our server was slow to greet us and and didn’t tell us it was wine Wednesday, one of us had to go inside to let her know we wanted another round of wine. She was quick to drop our bills and veeeeeery slow to collect any sort of payment. We love cilantro and the atmosphere was great but the service was not. So sad they are closing, we wish we had a second chance :(
Excellent meal at what might be our last visit to Cilantro. We are very sad that they will be closing their doors in September 2019. It has been a great ride but sad that it has come to an end.
We had a nice visit requesting a patio table when arriving the patio area was fully occupied .
We were placed into the restaurant as a result . We are sorry to hear Cilantro will be closing
At the end of August . Such a long standing restaurant for well over 30 years and serving Calgarians
consistently good food . We will miss this landmark !
It was a beautiful day and our lunch on the patio was perfect. Server was lovely.
Most definitely! Great food, service and ambience.
I've been a patron of Cilantro for the past 30 years and I am saddened to hear that you are closing your doors. Cilantro is a staple in our city and always our go-to-place!
Definitely a long time favorite. Thanks for the memories!
The food was good. However, the service and lack of organization was a bit shocking for a restaurant of this caliber on 17 Ave. We were seated and had to ask 3 times if we had a server. We were finally tired of no one taking our drink order that we asked the host if she would assist us- she said no, that it was not her job. I also had requested a patio table when I made reservations as it was a special occasion and no effort was made to try to fit us in. We offered to wait, the host said no. Not an impressive experience.
Beautiiful patio with prompt, efficient service. Found prices too high... $19 for a glass of wine and $17 for a pretty small spinach salad. But a lovely space.
Lunch was just lovely
Had a great time, good atmosphere and great cocktails. We sat outside on the patio and loved the space. The only complaint is that it took ages for anyone to greet me when I initially arrived which I thought was a bit odd, I felt ignored by a couple of the staff while I was standing there for at least five minutes, but it was very busy. Apart from that it was great.
Only disappointment was we were not seated outside. Having made a reservation I assumed table outside would have been reserved. There was no opportunity on the app to request outside. Initially we were seated next to the oven fire. Very hot in a 30 degree day. Bad decision by hostess. We were moved to the lower area when we requested it. Should not have had to make that request. It was so obviously too hot by the oven.
Delicious as always!!
