I met a friend for lunch. She had never been to cilantro before, She loved it. Especially since we had a table on the patio in the sunshine.
Great cozy atmosphere and very nice private patio with tall walls to block out 17th ave traffic. Mussels, elk salami pizza and beet salad were great and service was excellent.
Lovely 5-course dinner for mothers Day
The incredible food, the attentiveness of the staff, and the comfortable atmosphere of Cilantro will definitely make us come back again and again
The food is ok but no more! We had a reservation booked a week ahead but there is no possibility to reserve patio table so we had no advantage by booking a week ahead over the people just walking in!
No bread was offered which is a trend becoming more and more common, but I think in that price range it should be complimentary.
They have a classic popular dish which they made as well at their other restaurant Divino which recently closed...too bad as it was so much better at the other restaurant. The dish is black pepper linguini. The pasta was presented in a darkly peppered tinged white sauce( made it unappealing) with pieces of chicken and a few (2-3) small strands of wilted spinach! I can make better pasta at home, very disappointing! Dessert, crème brûlée, had nothing that you can’t purchase premise anywhere!
Four friends on a gorgeous spring night. We happily sipped and nibbled our way through an evening of lively conversation. The service was perfect - attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious. We'll be back.
Excellent service from the moment we arrived. Loved the patio, perfect ambiance for dinner. Delicious food, the appetizer of house made ricotta and warm olives was a stand out, bison ribs were so tender, lemon pasta worth coming back for. Free parking (if you can get it) was a bonus. Not surprising in business 30 years.
Always great! Food, service, wine, welcoming environment, cozy bar!
Very good restaurant. Seafood Pasta was awesome. Banana Cheesecake
Family birthday celebration-thank you for the sparkler in bday boy’s dessert and the restaurant also took care of the bday dessert-very nice!
Fantastic, melt in mouth beef carpaccio(so much so we ordered the second) and the rack of lamb was delicious-the clear winners at our table. Close runner up would be the Arctic char. The bison short ribs were braised and so very tender, but didn’t have as much flavor as compared to lamb. The carrots and parsnips were lovely side vegetable choices-I enjoy parsnips but they could have been cooked more-they were really too hard. The wine list is wonderful and the Mosel Riesling(Nahe) we ordered-excellent! Our round booth table by the window was comfortable with a great view of bustling 17th Ave. For most of our party, the high energy and noise level was okay, however, too noisy for our 83 year old Mom/Nana. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, pleasant service and food! Thank you!
The server was not engaging. Did not talk to us about specials or anything else for that matter. Not the feel good experience we are used to.
Took first date to Cilantro was busy and noisy but helped keep our conversation to only between us. Interesting wine selection and the food was just right for sharing. Our waitress was great prompt and attentive but not bothersome.
The service was slow, I ordered a soup and gnocchi. Maybe, I am too spoiled being raised in NYC around the best restaurants and service in the world. Food was taste however is was heavily salted. As I always say a cook cook never put too much salt on the food. I would prefer that lack of it so I could add it to my own taste...
This is one of our favourite restaurants in Calgary. The ingredients are always very fresh. The combinations are as local as you can get, with amazing, deep flavours from well-crafted, proven, creative dishes that are filling and appropriately priced for a special evening.
The service is attentive without being intrusive.
Renovations look great downstairs. Thursday night charcuterie board could have two pieces of cheese instead of one. Bison tartare is delicious but looks much bigger on their Instagram photo. Upstairs is cozy and romantic. Overall a lovely evening.
Amazing as always!
We were very happy with the restaurant unfortunately when we arrived our reservation was not in their system. We still got a table but question if they were really busy if we would have gotten one or what happened as we had email open table confirmation
No words, so good.
Service was excellent - food was very good - impression overall we would come back .
food was just okay, I have a beet salad and gluten free pizza, hubby had a beef entree and
pasta for dinner. Not sure I would be back as there are some other very healthy/tasty restaurants these days.
ordered and shared appies - delicious. Service was outstanding.
I took my girlfriend for her B day lunch and she was really pleased with the restaurant ! This is first time she went to Cilantro and she will be back do that is a very good review for your restaurant !
This is and always has been my favourite restaurant in the city which makes me sad to write this review. For the first time ever we had our first bad experience tonight. After sitting for over half an hour before even being acknowledged to waiting over an hour before calling someone who wasn't even our server over to ask if we could put our orders in. This isn't like cilantro and the typical dining experience we are used to here.
Beautiful place. Staff is friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.
Everything was amazing!
Like new renovations/upgrades . Overall great place all year - especially comforting in winter . Background music was great but seemed a little loud this time . One of my favorite places .
I was hoping for a bigger refresh with the renovations. New tile, some new furniture... not much of a renovation! Food was good, we tried a few new dishes.
It was my first time visiting Cilantro and I had a wonderful time! The server helped with suggesting a bottle of wine from their large wine list that pairs well with our entire meal. All the staff was extremely friendly and efficient which must be a necessity due to the fact that the restaurant was packed all night!
Food is always fantastic, service awesome and the ambiance warm and inviting!
My favourite place for a friend gathering...
Everything was so good on the 6 course Valentine’s Day menu except the short rib. It was way too salty. It won’t prevent me from coming back .
My wife and I had a wonder Valentine’s Day dinner. Great food and reasonably priced. Very happy with the new renovation and menu. Most definitely will be back in the near future.
As always it never disappoints. New renovations look great! Great service as always and an amazing meal. Hands down my favourite restaurant in this city!
It was opening night after renovation of restaurant and restaurant was running smoothly ! We we’re celebrating my niece B day and she really like the restaurant and she will be back
Excellent beet salad. Smiling service. Bit on the noisy side.
My family and I we spend New Year eve at Cilantro and dinner was awesome
This is my favourite restaurant and I’m waiting for special opening after the renovations in January and February 2018
Such good service, weather was super cold so we almost had the restaurant to ourself!! Food and wine was amazing
We loved the restaurant, especially the upper level was cosy. Service forgot to tell us that they had run out of one of the ingredients on the specialties platter, which was kind of annoying since we were so looking forward to it. No special apologies, no reduction in price or other effort I make it up.
Atmosphere was ruined by jersey wearing patrons talking loudly about restroom gender bylaws.... what a let down.
It is ideal place for business lunch although I enjoyed having dinner with my family in the evening couple times. The food is great, wine list endless, overall nice, cozy spot in convenience location.
