The food is good, drinks are excellent, but go for the architecture and ambience. Beautifully decorated
Most remarkable and beautiful room in Los Angeles, an art deco wonder.
Great service and wonderful entertainment. Felt like I was eating dinner in the 1920s!
Birthday celebration, loved this wonderful find! Service was friendly and attentive, filet mignon was so delicious, the lobster linguine and fettuccine Ragu with lobster sauce was amazing! Loved the beautiful Art Deco decor. A true gem.will back for a Saturday night event for sure ❣️
Love the Cicada Club, didn't love the food. The ambiance is great! Super deep into the art deco era. Mostly everyone came dressed that dined there except for maybe a handful. The live band was so great & energetic! The service of the waiter was great! Constantly checking up, refilling drinks, & knowledgable about the menu. What wasn't so good was the food. My chocolate dessert even had a bug that may have been stuck to a mint leaf. Overall, I would come back again but to for the music & bar, I definently wouldn't dine here.
The reviews were right on. This place was special. I went on a Friday night with 5 people. Everyone reported that their food was excellent. The service was top notch. The water was constantly full, the waiter - very attentive. That alone would have made for a terrific rating. When you factor in the ambiance of the antique looking space (Great Gatsby was filmed here), it would be hard to beat this dining experience.
The staff were attentive & friendly; the decor was beautiful. We came on a spontaneous date night, but Cicada would be excellent for any special occasion.
Lizzy and Triggermen were fantastic, venue is unique and we had so much fun. Meal (pre-set menu with show) was ok. We plan on going back to check out the normal menu and to enjoy the ambience. Server had disappeared for an hour - we left thinking the meal was paid via CC provided at reservation - and then he re-appeared when we got to our car.
We dined at Cicada following my daughter’s college graduation. We made the reservation pretty late but we were happy to see they could take us. Very unique ambience. Worth dining there just to see the place but we were very happy with the food.
A beautiful 1920s Art Deco restaurant in the spirit of great fats by!
I'm been blessed to have dined at some of the finest restaurants in the world and Cicada Club rates with them and better with regards to ambience and decor. We will be having my wife's 50th year celebration at this venue.
It was a Saturday night and we were 1 of 3 tables in the whole place. The space is so big and having so few people inside made in uncomfortably quiet. No one came in after us and we were the last ones to leave after only an hour and a half. The room was cool, but sadly no one seems to go. The food and service were top notch though.
Amazing food amazing service. How have I never been there before? I will be back. I have significant food allergies and they were just fabulous.
Awesome evening! Special swing dance event. Chester Whitmore orchestra was spectacular! Ambiance was unbelievable. Service outstanding, waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable. All three courses were deliciously delectable! Now I can cross The Cicada Club off of my bucket list. I will be returning again.....sooner than later!
Great food. Excellent waiter so gave us a tour of the historic building.
Amazing place service ambience food vibe you named
What a lovely restaurant. The food was great, super, interesting! Drinks and Wine were great as well. But I must say in addition to the food the service was great. Waiter did not interrupt, was there when we needed him, and did not stick around to bother.
Very nice music and food. Highly recommend
Terrible service, over an hour to get a drink and food arrived with still no drinks. Left due to the shocking service levels although the performance was great the venue simply couldn’t manage and even the manager was at a loss as to the poor quality waiting staff. At least Uber made $100 dollars.
This place was awesome. Ambiance, service, food. Everything was amazing. Situated in an old nostalgic building with the art deco decor. I highly recommend this fine restaurant.
The service was excellent but other than that we were disappointed with the experience. I was here 20 years ago and loved everything about it. I realize that was a long time ago, but the venue looks very, very tired and in dire need of a refresh. It feels as if it could close down any day. For the price (over $200 for two people for dinner) the food was adequate at best. I am not a picky diner or complainer and it is very unusual for me to leave a negative review. I would not recommend Cicada for anything other than a very quiet place to have a drink.
It was a solid experience with a few odd moments...server pressured me to have an appetizer ‘because everyone else was..” (2 of 4 others?) he highlighted drinks ‘the ladies liked because they hid the alcohol taste.” To my 23 year old. Weird.
Wonderful Art Deco ambiance. Service was very good and food was above average but a little pricey.
We had a reservation but the hostess kept trying to seat us at bad tables when there were plenty of nicer tables available.
Also, the short ribs on the prix fixe menu were dry and bland.
What a great spot with absolutely fantastic service. The food was amazing and the ambience was perfect for our Valentine’s Day date. It is rather pricey, but a fun dinner. Again, the service was fantastic!
Nice venue. Average food. Drinks are very good. Lots of history to the building but I wouldn’t go back to dine again if all they had was the food.
Overall nice ambience service was good too but a little disappointed by the food. Could have been better .
I thought I’d take the wife out for a nice Valentines dinner:
The food started out ok, the appetizers were actually quite decent (not $95 per person good bit, it was a first course) and then we waited for 20+ minutes for cold risotto, again that was semi-decent....then we waited at least 35 min for our main course- my wife had the Sea Bass and I had the super disappointing Short Ribs. The staff were very nice and friendly but, took way to long to get anything out of the kitchen. I went through 2 baskets of bread and an entire liter of water- I got to know the water guy, he was very cool; practically coming by our table every time I took a sip! The waiter, although he seemed nice, was absent most of the night and hardly said more than a few words the entire time.
That said, once the food made its way out, it looked pretty good on the plate. However, as good as it looked; it tasted rancid, the veggies were over cooked, and half the plate was cold. My wife’s plate, also looked good but, the vegetables were also over cooked, and the fish had more of a jerky texture than we’ve ever experienced.
I had been here a few tunes, the last time was about 2 years ago (because it’s a bit out of our normal date night budget) and expected the food would be the same. maybe there was a new chef that night ? or something awfully cruel happened. Sorely disappointed and very much dissatisfied considering the reputation of the restaurant & the price of the meal.
$95 per person pre-fix Valentine’s dinner - waited nearly an hour for main course after the previous plate. Too late to eat by the time it arrived and I sent mine back. Manager credited the plate since I didn’t eat it. My opinion is that $95 per person for food only is at the top level of cost for a food only meal in LA and the restaurant charging that price should be operating at that level, always. Here, it was amateurish at best. Nevermind making for a bad finish to the holiday dinner.
This is a beautiful location with mediocre food, drinks, and service. For the price point everything was bad. It feels like this venue rides on the beautiful historic location as an excuse to overcharge for what is effectively hotel food and hotel bar cocktails. I won't be going back.
Wish it was a regular menu but great !!!
The experience at Cicada was amazing. The server was very attentive and courteous. We were a party of eight and yet all of our dishes came out at the exact same time, which was exceptional because we all began dining at the same time. The food was delicious. We all loved our dishes. I will definetly recommend Cicada to others!
I loved my experience with Cicada! I wish they had music playing
Unless you go on a night when a band is playing prepare for an evening of awkward silence. Background music was too low
We went for our one year anniversary and they took such great care of us. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. We are so happy we went there and can not wait to go back soon. You will not regret dining here.
Was sooo hot, probably 80 degrees. Food was average
Food is great, but a little pricey for the amount you get. Everything was delicious though.
The food was decent, but our main waiter was so RUDE! The secondary wait was great but the main waiter was rude and unfriendly and was a grey cloud for my birthday..
I came here to celebrate my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend and it was amazing. The atmosphere was great and the music was very good. Our server was extremely nice and the food was very fulfilling and tasteful. We are actually looking into having our wedding here because it was that good! I’d highly recommend this venue for a special occasion.
Extremely Romantic! Had a great time!
