Cibo Wine Bar Yonge Street Ratings and Reviews
Well, this is my favorite restaurant but this time a was let down. My wife and I always go here for our special dates because is always consistent and the menu is not altered by the chef on duty... Until this visit when we ordered what we always order (Burrata) and we found out that it doesn’t come with the usual ingredients and sides (sun dried tomatoes and artichokes) any more because the chef switched!!!...... I just hope things don’t start going downhill from here I have seen this kind of things in many restaurants and is always a bad sign... I don’t know it was just diferent this time.
I've been here for brunch 2 other times and had a good experience, but this visit was disappointing. Our reservation was for 2pm (brunch is served 11.30-3.30) which is later than we've been before, and we really felt like we were late to the party. The service wasn't attentive or particularly helpful/ friendly, with the exception of the really awesome woman who attends the waffles/cannoli station and deserves gold stars for friendliness and customer service. The fruit, pasty and cheese stations were very picked over, and many of the kitchen and food service staff (pizza station, pasta station etc) were not to be found or were busy clearing up in the back rather than serving customers, as if we were arriving right at closing (which we weren't). Our water glasses were topped up pretty regularly but we had to flag our server down to ask for other refills. We were also unimpressed with the additional row of glass top tables that were added between the two rows of permanent bench seating as it made it very crowded and difficult to manoeuvre, which is important for a buffet since guests are getting up and down to get food.
I also find it tacky that the servers always ask if you have a Groupon when you ask for the bill. We haven't ever used a Groupon to go, and it makes us feel like we are getting ripped off if everyone else is paying half price
We may go back eventually because it's in our neighbourhood and we have had better experiences before, but only if we go for noon. Otherwise it's not worth it - it's an expensive brunch, so needs to be accompanied by better service and a more positive overall experience.
The appies were great, but the mains were a let down. I didn't enjoy the Fettuccine Alfredo, and the pasta wasn't fresh. For the price of the meal I would expect friendlier service and better flavours. The music was quite loud and couldn't hear people on the other side of the table.
We celebrated my Dad's birthday! My experience at Cibo is awesome! I love the ambiance especially the lighting of the restaurant it sets the great mood. They play jazz as well. I once celebrated my birthday on Cibo, and they never fail to give you a good service!
Service is a lost art form. Took 10 minutes to be noticed by our waitress. I had to get up and grab her in order to get the bill. Ironically the visa machine they use suggests 18-25% for the tip. I tip less when service is sub par so this is very presumptuous. Really weak service ruined a bland meal. Green salad with hardly any dressing or flavour. You want a great simple organic green salad - try terroni. The 'organic' salad comprised a bunch of bland leaves and a few cherry tomatoes. Lame. I didn't even bother eating it.
as a customer who dines at various Cibo locations fairly often, I was let down by the experience at Cibo Yonge street last night. While the service was great, I found the food to miss the bar a bit compared to what I am used to. -the starters were excellent yet the entrees (pasta and pizza) seemed to miss the mark. Our server was wonderful and accomodating, but the wine list seemed over priced compared to other locations and the pasta was a miss-plain, coolish, and underwhelming. While the server was gracious enough to take care of us, I simply found the overall experience to be somewhat lacking.
I love the place. Glad it's in my neighbourhood, and intend to go more frequently. A great place for a fun night out, or lunch with friends or colleagues. Love the atmosphere, and the food is equally delicious! The few times I've been there, I've always enjoyed it!
Holly was excellent, made sure we had a great time after a horrible experience at the beginning.
The hostess was absolutely rude and seemed we were inconveniencing her by coming in. We were about to walk out because of that experience but our server Holly made it up.
Would I return again, yes but only if that hostess isn’t on shift.
Honestly, it was extremely overrated and our waiter was very rude to not just us, but others as well. I understand he was under stress but that is no excuse to be rude. Also, the food was cold and tasted old. The sauce of my pizza was too chunky and way too burnt.
I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was completely cold. I told my server and he said they would make a new one. When it was returned it was obvious they just tried to re-heat the dish and I told the server it was the same dish. He said the kitchen wouldn't remake it and put it under the broiler. At this point my colleague was almost finished her meal and my server sheepishly asked if I wanted them to remake it. I was embarrassed to be difficult in front of my colleague and ate the dish. It was awful. If I wasn't at a work dinner I would have complained more - however, I shouldn't have had to. It should have been re-made the first time.
I had an event at the CIBO on King last year and the food was spectacular and the staff was wonderful to deal with. I was excited to go to the Yonge Street location and expected the same level of service and quality. I am very disappointed. Save yourself the time and effort - just go to the King Street location.
FYI - I did complain and was offered a free drink and appetizer on my next visit.
Unreal food, unreal place. We have quickly made this one of our top, go to restaurants in the city. We try to go once a month, and we are never disappointed with the pizza, pasta, apps or wine. Sometimes the upstairs can get a little hot, but still worth it...:
